Lions, Tigers, and Bears - Oh My!

We were so lucky to have spent this past weekend with Mason and Gavin's Nana and Grandy! We had a great weekend packed full of fun. Here are a few pics from our trip to the Ft. Worth Zoo.
Gearing Up!
Let the fun begin!
Up close and personal.
Mason was so cute, he said hi and bye to every animal.
They wanted to pet them.
At least I got one looking at the camera.
Feeding the birds.
Gavin was not so sure of the birds at first.
Go Mason!! What an animal lover!
The fam.
Thanks Nana and Grandy for an awesome weekend! We can't wait to see you again in a few weeks!!! We love you!

A Walk In The Park

A simple Sunday, a simple lunch with my family, and a simple walk in the park is all it took to remind me of how simply wonderful life can be. Today was a precious day. Nothing extraordinary happened, no mountains moved, but none the less I would repeat today over and over again.
And they're off!
Hmmm. That's a weird looking ball.
High five brother!
Squirrel.
Hamming it up!
Do you see the death grip he has?
Time to hydrate.
Snack time.
Me and G.
Playground fun.
Such innocence.
Really?? Why can't I go higher?
Having a blast.
As I type the boys are tucked in bed and I am about to turn in myself. I am so very grateful for this day. I will head off to work in the morning and remember how special this weekend was!

It's Fall Ya'll!

Well...not quite. But I just couldn't wait to decorate anymore. The temperature has dropped below 1oo degrees for several days now and it is September so I thought I'd roll the decorations on out. Here are a few pics of the front porch. I really don't jazz up the interior of our house for fall so the porch is really the only spot at our house that gets decked for the season.
Gotta love fake pumpkins! These bad boys have lasted several years.
P for Palmer or "please come in" or "pretty please don't ring the doorbell and wake up my sleeping babies."
An old SLAH piece. It has aged (unlike myself - lol) but I still like it!
Thank you Hobby Lobby for having such great leaf bunches.
Thanks to my hubby who power washed the porch this morning while the boys and I went to stroller class.
Still so glad I snagged this bench last spring. The pumpkins look uber cute on it!
Happy Fall - Almost!

My Waiting For Fall Mantel

Alright heat it is time for you to pack up and leaf. I am ready for there to be a chill in the air, I'm ready to eat soup/stew/chili, and I am ready for Thanksgiving break. Although I loved my first week of teaching Kindergarten, I sure miss my little ones and can't wait to have more snuggle time with them.
As I was cleaning this week I decided to start prepping the casa for fall. I spruced up the mantle.
My crow found a new home.
I changed out the picture for this sweet one. They are on the back of an old fire truck. They just get cuter by the day!

Kindergarten Crate Seat

Hi friends. I start school tomorrow. One week of in-service and then we get kiddos next Monday. I am so excited about teaching Kinder this year. I feel so very lucky to love my job and that my job allows me summers off. It definitely gave me time to rest and recuperate for the up coming year.
As the case with many of my friends, I too and becoming an avid Pinterester (not sure if that is a word - but going with it anyway). I am loving not only the decor and fashion side but the classroom side as well.
Enter the kindergarten crate seat. Storage and function - what more does a teacher need? I roped the hubby into helping me today while the boys napped. We made 5 fabulous little seats. Can't wait to start small groups so the kiddos can use em.
The after.
I have attacked my classroom with this fabric. Isn't is perfect for K?
Loving the lime green crate. I also picked up some high density foam from Joann Fabric.
The hubby ran to HD and snagged some wood and fiber board. The lumber guy even cut it down to size for us! He must have been having a slow day. The hubs was super excited that he didn't have to come home and cut anything. I decided to staple the fabric to the wood and then use the fiberboard as a bottom layer to hide all the fabric and staples.
I decided to put a ribbon across the top to make for easy opening.
And there you have it. A perfect little crate seat for a sweet lil K student.
I think my husband could be a hand model.
M & G were very impressed. Can you see how G is plotting to get into my SLAH bucket???
So sweet - still way to little for K thank goodness!
One more shot!

Bow Hanger/Hospital Door Hanger

My sweet friend is expecting a little girl in a few short weeks. I have been itching to make a bow hanger for some time, just for giggles. Luckily my friend was in need. I also told her I wanted to make her hospital door hanger, again just for giggles. Can you tell I have boys???
I racked my brain about how I could somehow combine the two in effort to make this lil project more sentimental. The idea came to me this morning. Viola! Here you have it. Currently it is a hospital door hanger, after you remove the cards my dear friend will have a hanger for her little ones bows.
I made letters which spell out her name to hang above her crib. This is one of the papers we used to decoupage the letters. Don't you kinda want to wear the big brown flower???
Sweet and simple!
I just love the name they have chosen!
Can't wait to meet her (along with everyone else and the mama to be I am sure - she is a month out, and you know how long that last month is).
A little closer view.
Hadley is one loved little lady! I had a blast with this project! I can't wait to see it all jazzed up with little girl bows.

The Heat Made Me Do It

We have had to spend a little more time indoors this past week due to the blazing temperatures here in Texas. Anytime I get to feeling cooped up I start to putz. This is how I can up with the idea to paint our master bedroom closet. Just to see how it would look I painted the backs of the shelving we have in there. The boys woke up from their nap so it was a great stopping point for today.
What do you think? Am I crazy, is it the heat, or just a great idea? Should I continue to paint the rest of the room (I already have the paint on hand)??
My hats got a new home.
Coach shoe boxes make nice storage! Oh and nice shoes - how I obtained the boxes in the first place. Gotta love a coach sale!
The hubs got me this jewelry box a few years ago. He's sweet like that.
The color is super subtle, the same blue grey I used to makeover the pantry and laundry room, so much better than just plain white.
We switched to these hangers a few years ago - just thought I'd throw in a picture of them. They really make my closet feel fancy.
Oh, and if you don't have this bad boy you need to get one. It is a huge time saver in the whole sorting laundry department.
