Freckled Laundry Tags

My Freckled Laundry clay tags arrived this week!! I have been busy finding the perfect little spots to add them. I am smitten with how they dress up my home's other accessories. Here are a few pics of where they have ended up.

The D.R. is Done!

The D.R. seems to be the one room that I have just never been sure how to decorate. The fact that we only use it once a year probably has something to do with it. I owe a big thanks to my mom who helped me finally pull it together and tweak it this past weekend. She has mad skills. The latest redo and hopefully the last for a long time started with this little beauty that I got from Sunshine and Lavender. Freckled Laundry's clay tags are too cute (stay tuned to my next post) and set in motion a shelf redo among other things.

I love this long PB shelf I got a while back. I love the linen damask fabric I chose a while back to adorn the windows in this room.
The pop outs make the curtain hang very nicely.

I am hoping these tulips last for a bit. They soften the room and make me want spring to never end. Texas summers are just way to hot.

And there you have it, the room we never use is finally done - go figure!

Thank You Romans

First, of I would like to thank the Romans (were they really the ones?) for coming up with their shade. Secondly, I'd like to thank my husband for doing all the math behind this here project. It took a few days and several discussions but we were finally able to do it. Third, I heart the fabric from Hobby Lobby, love the shade we made for $28 since we already had the fabric, and am smitten with how my bathroom is looking these days.

I love this sweet sign.

Mercury is one of my favs!

This is the sign that greets us outside of our shower. I like the gentle reminder. Starts my day off right.

Hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend. My house is still quietly sleeping hence the post.

Function Over Form

Check out these cute hooks we had been using in the guest/boys bathroom.

But...anytime you open/close the door - they did this. And if you know me you will know that this was driving me crazy. After seeing how much these puppies were scuffing up the wall not to mention the daily moving I finally threw in the towel.
My mom has a similar towel bar in her guest bath that I have always loved. I had her send me a pic and with the help of my handy hubby we were able to recreate it. After three coats of paint, brown, grey blue, and ivory, and along with a little measuring on the part of the hubs we have a new towel bar - that kinda looks a little old. I am loving our updated guest bath.
Can you see the grey blue in the channel?
Oh - the hooks & wood came from...Home Depot.
My sweet boys!
They were only 2 days old when this was taken. Hope you have a happy and productive week.

Four for $3

I have long been a lover of monograms. But when the hubs said I was starting to overuse P's I figured it was time to find something else to adorn the house with. Enter my love for the number 4 representing the 4 people in my lil family.

I totally stole this idea from my pal Alison at Sunshine and Lavender. We went antiquing one day and she found an old antique flash card that said - 3 on it which she later framed. It was precious! No such luck finding a 4 though. So thanks to Microsoft word, card stock, some leftover linen fabric and this cheapo $3 frame from WalMart I made my own rendition. And on that note I think I am finally done with my mantle...for now.

I am linking up to Freckled Laundy's Friday link party.

Margarita....Pizza

I have been craving pizza ever since I saw a Domino's commercial a few days back. I was really hoping they would go away - but oh no not a chance. In lieu of placing an order I decided to homemade (well semi homemade) was the way to go. I had most of the ingredients and in all honesty prefer homemade to the easily ordered take out pizza.

I used basil from the garden - love the way it smells! We didn't have any pizza/spaghetti sauce so I used diced tomatoes and pureed them using my new lil favorite gadget - Magic Bullet. I saved some of the tomatoes and spread them over the sauce. Oh and the semi homemade part is courtesy of Pillsbury via pre-made dough.
14 minutes later @ 450 degrees - here you go.
Just what I needed - and it didn't hurt the waist too bad considering I used low fat cheese to top it off and made a salad to go with.

Pictures & Pillows

Today has proved to be another productive Saturday. Not only did we get family pictures taken I also managed to do a little sewing. Below are a few pics of the boys after they returned from their photo shoot.

G is happy to be home with his toys.
M always wants to wear his hat. I think he is hinting that he wants to go outside - since mommy always makes him wear his hat whenever they go out.

And the pillows. I wanted something with a little texture. I am digging ruffles right now. So here you go. The red adds a punch of color to my mostly black dining room.

Clock Talk

With all of these clocks one would think I would never be late. And those of you that know me personally know that I am never late. Except today..

I woke up thinking "wow it's really light in here." My next thought was "HOLY FREAKING COW IT'S LIGHT IN HERE!!!"

I threw off the covers in a mad dash, looked at my phone/alarm clock to see that it was 7:00. I needed to be at work by 7:30. In the short few minutes I had to get ready along with the help of the hubs I was able to get fully dressed and clothed - including iron my pants, get lunch and coffee and managed to make it to work by 7:40. Success! Although I was little frazzled - I was there ready to work.

In honor of this little mishap here a few clocks around the house which will hopefully serve as reminders for me to remember to set my alarm or not to turn it off when it chimes (still not sure which of the two happened).
