Family Walk

The kids were getting a little restless one night, so we decided to walk to the park.  BEST IDEA EVER.  There were a bunch of gnats and bugs out but we tried to ignore them.  They loved it!!  On the way home Grace found a little toad on the sidewalk and that was a new adventure on its own.  The girls (mostly paige) weren't sure about holding him but after a while they warmed up.  Lincoln is PURE boy.  He grabbed that thing and squeezed it then dangled it by the legs, I was DYING.  It was adorable.  Here are a few shots of our outing.

How Lincoln stacks up!

My sweet boy is already 9 months and I can't believe it!!  He has been such a joy to have in our home and am so grateful to be his mother.  He had his well check today and he got a clean bill of health. I realize I posted my girls at this age and wanted to compare, so here is where Lincoln fits in the mix.

Lincoln: 22.5 pounds, 29 1/4 inches
Grace: 21.3 pounds. 29 1/2 inches
Paige: 20.4 pounds, 28 inches

So he is definitely our heftiest.  And our happiest.  He is always smiling.  We love this little man!  I mean look how handsome he is!!  How can you not!?

I love his blonde hair and big blue eyes. He is constantly smiling and adores his big sisters!  Also loves his blankey and eats anything he can get his hands on.  We love this chub a dub!

Who does he look like?  Any similarities??

Lincoln's Birth Story

This is only 4 1/2 months overdue but it is the least I can do for my sweet boy!!  I'll try to remember as many details as I can!!

Tuesday November 8th - I had a doctor's appt at 10am, I was at 1cm and only 10% effaced, got my membranes stripped and went on my way.  Went to the mall with the kids and walked around for a while.  I was feeling sore and tired so we left after a couple hours.  Took a nap when we got home, made dinner, went to Bunco and chatted with the girls and talked about all the ways I could get him here!!  Went home around 10pm.  Did some laundry, checked on the kids, ate some pineapple, a glass of raspberry leaf tea drops, black licorice, made love :), inserted primrose oil tablets, went to bed around midnight.  Seriously, I was doing it ALL!!

Wednesday November 9th, 2:30 am, sleep is not gonna happen.  Took some tums.  Was not feeling so "hot."  Went to the bathroom, had killer diarrhea and after that I went and did some dishes, swept the floor, packed the hospital bag, did some more laundry (procrastinated a lot of things, can you tell), called Jill to see if she could watch the sleeping girls, told Kimball it was "time" and Aunt Jill came right over.  So grateful for family.

Checked in the hospital around 7am.  Looked over the paperwork and made sure it was all good (I preregistered) and then went to see if they were gonna admit me.  Put on the gown, got vitals checked and was at a 3 1/2 and 75% effaced.  I was ecstatic because I never got past a 2 with either of the girls!  Such a tender mercy. I was having contractions this whole time by the way, since about the 2 am wake up.  Got admitted.  Found out MY doctor, the one I love and was hoping for, was on CALL that day!  Another tender mercy.  I was definitely in labor so they started my IV and got me all set up in a room.  And the waiting began.

I was having intense contractions and don't do that well with pain I guess, which I didnt realize till i had kids, so I got my epidural.  Life was good.  I watched tv w Kimball, chatted, talked about names (we couldnt agree on anything), tried to nap but got woken up by nurses and whoever else came in to bug me, so I just tried to get comfortable in those AWESOME beds and wait for my miracle.

Because Grace was such a big baby, and the fact that I was doing the VBAC route, they wanted to do a size/growth ultrasound to see what we were looking at.  There guess was around 8lb 7oz. and my Dr was pretty happy with that, as was I.  I said what does that mean, he said it means, game on, lets get you on pitocin!  FINALLY!  I was so excited because I was stalled at a 5 and it was already 1pm now.  They wont induce you or give you pit (only select doctors) with a VBAC so I was grateful he was willing.

I got checked again at 4pm at which was only 5 1/2.  I was really getting nervous that they were going to section me, so I prayed to our loving Heavenly Father for help in getting him here naturally and also received a priesthood blessing from my husband.  Immediate peace.  There is nothing better.  As many of us know that feeling.  The nurse called my Dr who was up in surgery and asked what he wanted to do.  He said as soon as he finished he would come and see how things were going.

Around 6pm he showed up, cranked up my pitocin and explained that he could not have done it sooner because he had to be available immediately if something were to happen w the increase (cuz of the VBAC).  That is why he couldnt do it while he was upstairs.  I understood.  The contraction monitor was going crazy around 7pm.  I got checked around 7:40 and was an 8.  I cried.  I was so excited to be past the 5 mark.  With Grace I stalled at an 8 and had already been in labor 29 hours, so I got sectioned.  I knew it wasn't gonna be the case this go around and that is why I was crying.  I knew my little miracle was on his way and our prayers had been answered!
(I had been on this "peanut ball" on and off for a few hours and it seems to help.  This is me right after I got checked and was an 8.  The baby was getting a little stressed so I had some oxygen to help us out.)

The nurse said it would probably be an hour or 2 before I got to 10 and that was fine.  She said to press the button if I felt pressure or the need to push.  Sounds good I said.  She walked out the door and I pressed the button not even 10 minutes later!  Game on.  I was a 10, 100% effaced and time to push.  I was ready.  I had to push for 45 mins with Paige and Heavenly Father knew I couldnt do it again.

2 and a half pushes later at 8:01 pm, our baby boy arrived.  8 pounds 10 ounces, 21 inches long.  Blond hair, blue eyes, beautiful skin and long fingers and toes.  We were in love.  After days of bouncing his name back and forth (Harrison, Lincoln, William were our top 3) we decided on Lincoln Djalmar (my grandpa jorgensen's name) Cody.  We were such proud parents and so were his sisters.  We love you sweet baby boy!  Welcome to our family!
