The last month!

This has been a long month so here are some Highlights and some stories for you to enjoy!

(* Stories worth telling!)

*Thanksgiving

BurgWear closed its “tent”!

We both passed all of our finals!

Painted our house

**Killed a mouse in our Kitchen

Went to Ashlynns Birthday party

***We visited California

Flew to Texas

We are now enjoying the warm weather in Houston!

*This thanksgiving was a good break for us. We were able to go home and enjoy not having as much homework to do and best of all no classes. We went home a few days before Thanksgiving so we could Help David’s Dad tear down some of the corals. This gave Kimberly the chance to drive the tractor. She enjoyed it.

We also went with Laurie and Zachary and Dad to the movies on Tuesday. Zach and Laurie wanted to see Twilight and so did Kimberly, so we all went and enjoyed a fun evening at the theatre.

We then ate too much on Thanksgiving Day with the Wilson’s. The food was great. The next day we woke up early to go shopping. This is a yearly tradition for Kimberly and her mother, but this year she had to settle with going with David. This was David’s first time shopping on a Black Friday. After we were done shopping we rushed back to Acequia to play soccer in the second annual “Turkey Cup”

**AHHHH! THE MOUSE! We noticed one day that David's rice bag had a whole in it and took a closer look and noticed several holes! So we figured we had a mouse. David picked up some mouse posion to put near a hole that our manager was suppose to fix. After the weekend Kimberly got up really early to study for a final and everything was so quiet the little mouse thought it was safe to scurry across the living room under the couch where she was. There were no more sightings until Saturday morning when we got up early to finish painting.David was painting so Kimberly decided to wash the dishes for a bit and looked in the drying sink and notcied something moving! So David bopped it on the head and took it outside up the stairs on ground level.About an hour later Kimberly opened the door to get around the edges and looked and saw the mouse on our welcome mat frozen to death.

***Kimberly’s old roommate got married in the Oakland temple on the 19th and so we went to California on a road trip. We took Gene Kyle, who is another old roommate of Kimberly. The three of us left Utah early Wednesday morning for an exciting 12 hour drive. We decided to take pictures at each border. As we stopped we just left the motor running so we could keep the car warm. The Nevada border was fun. We then drove across the exciting state until we got to Reno. We stopped there to visit one of Kimberly’s old elementary teachers. We visited with her for an hour or so, and then headed back to the open road.

When we stopped at the California border we had a small shoulder to park on so I unlocked the door for the girls to get out. Then I waited for a good break to get out of the car. I saw one so I jumped out and ran for the border. We then took pictures and headed back to get in the car. When I tried to open the door it wouldn’t work. I looked at the other door and realized it was locked. That was a little scary considering it was freezing cold in the Sierra Mountains.

A couple months before we got signed up for a motor club that we didn’t really want but we decided it might be nice since we were going on a road trip. Luckily I had my phone with me, and the motor club card. I called the number and after a 15-minute wait I finally got a hold of someone and they told me it would only be a two-hour wait, and asked if that would be okay. I told them that wouldn’t work, so they sent me to the next place who said they could be there in a half an hour. That was much better. 20 minutes later they came and broke into our car and we were off. I am sure glad we had our motor club because everything was covered for us and we were able to find someone in about 30-45 minutes.

OH yeah we went to Temple Sqaure!

We finally made it to California. The next day we went to San Francisco and saw Ghirardelli Square, Fishermen’s Warf, ate at In-N-Out Burger, and shopped in Chinatown! That was a fun day. The next day we saw Celeste’s wedding in the Oakland temple.

The Luncheon was at Celeste's favorite restaurant which is a Japanese place. Our table consisited of David,Kimberly and her two roommates Gene and Eryn, and three of Celeste's teenage brothers. We were the kids table and we acted like it trying to make everyone eat the seaweed salad and raw fish.

Good Times!

This week was kinda hectic and fun at the same time. On Tuesday we got a phone call from the second counselor in our ward asking us if we would speak. Of course we couldn't say no so we told him yes. We were asked to talk on Gratitude which was fun because every other week this month they have talked on gratitude. This just meant we had to be a little more creative. This was also the first time that Kimberly had given a talk longer then a 5 minute youth talk. we think there was supposed to be another speaker there who didn't show up, so it was just the two of us taking up the whole 45 minutes of Sacrament. I was grateful that Kimberly talked 25 minutes so I only had to talk for 20!!

On Friday we heard about a high school play out in Sugar-Salem High School that was supposed to be really good. They are performing Les Miserables. So when I was at work a friend said she wanted to go so we called and got four tickets, for her husband and her, and for Kimberly and I. So we went to the play on Saturday out in Sugar City. We doubled with this other couple and afterwards they came over to our house for hot chocolate and Ice Cream. It was really fun. We also really enjoyed the play. For such a small school they had an amazing production, with over 50 cast members. They must have had a tenth of their student body in the play!

BurgWear

As some of you have noticed I have recently added a link to a company called BurgWear.  This is because I thought I should support the company that I am working for.  I am taking a course that is called the integrated business core(IBC).  (Brian took it when he was here and I'm sure some others who have attended BYU-I or Ricks have heard of it.)  This course is worth 12 credits so we have 12 hours in class time, plus homework, plus we have to start and run a business.  Sounds easy right?!

As we started our business we all were separated into groups by our teacher, then we had to start brainstorming on ideas that would work as a business.  There were about 5-6 ideas thrown around, most of which were food related ideas.  Then we found out from the school that because of all the construction occurring on campus we were not allowed to sell food because of storage issues.  No big deal, we can always come up with new ideas.

Well we went on a three day camping trip in the mountains as a whole class and while we were there we were able to brain storm and come up with different ideas.  The idea that everyone agreed on and was thought to be the best, was winter apparel. (Probably just because we were in the mountains where it was colder then the rest of the world and we were all freezing.)  But this idea come with us when we came back and we pursued it.

We looked into many different options of clothing and apparel to sell, but as we asked people on campus on what they liked and how much they would spend we narrowed it down to scarves, Beanies, earmuffs with speakers in them and rice bags that you heat up in the microwave.
We then proceeded to write a business plan and prepare it for a loan committee.  The loan committee consisted of local bankers from three different banks.  The money really came from the school, but it had to be approved by these bankers and they decided how much to give us.

Well they like everything except the earmuffs with earphones.  They were too expensive and the wholesaler that we found was not trustworthy.  Therefore we received the money for everything else.  This was a little tricky though because most other IBC businesses have only done one product and the professors thought it was going to be a lot of work, but it is good for us.  We then ordered our products, bought a tent to put our stuff in outside, for the cold.  And proceeded to run our business.

Everything was going pretty dandy, not selling as much as we had hoped, but inside our projections for the most part.  We have learned a lot and are wishing it would be a colder winter then it has so we would sell more, but it just happens to work out that way.  So for the most part we have been really enjoying it.

Then out of the blue our teacher tells us that all the leaders are fired and we have to reorganize our company.  This was unexpected especially since our CEO, who is from Burley and his dad own Hogans in Rupert, was a really good leader and really helped us when we were confused at the beginning and help us stop and think things through.  Now we have to change thing up.
So we all got together as a company and voted a new CEO and new leaders for the Marketing group, the Operations group, and the Finance group.  After voting in the CEO I then went to the marketing group, which I am a part of, and voted for a new Chief Marketing Officer(CMO).  After voting who else would you think got stuck with the position.  Yep I did.  That just means I get to go to more meetings and help plan more things!  Fun!

I am actually excited for the chance to learn more and to be more involved.  It is really a fun company and we really get along so it should be fun to now be in leadership for a few more weeks.

If you have any ideas on marketing Beanies Scarves and rice packs I am open to outside advice.  And if you want to buy anything, go to our website and I would love to take your orders;)

New Adventures

So this week Kimberly had some firsts. Her first first was we went down to the BYU vs. San Diego game. She has never been to a college football game before. It was the last home game of the season and so we were able to see all the senior members recognized at the end too. We went down with the Garners and stayed at Kimberlys Uncles house in Provo. The next day when we went to buy our tickets we ended up getting free tickets and free T-shirts! What a great day! Afterwards we went out for Ice Cream with some of Kimberly's friends from home and headed back that night.
L to R Megan, Kimberly, Amelia

Us at the game.

Kimberly, David, Erin and Devin

Kimberly was giving an oral report on lemons for her culinary arts class this week and David had a great idea of making Lemon cheese. This was another first for Kimberly. David has always tried to get her to make Cheese with him, and she finally did. This was actually a first for David as well since he has never made Lemon Cheese before. It was way easy. If you like Lemons you should try it. Fun Times!

Things are great here in Rexburg! We had a week with some amazingly wonderful weather. The week was really hectic though.

Kimberly worked for the music department for the Halloween Concert everynight and is glad to now have a life to get other things done. We decided to dress up as scarecrow which turned out to be a bit more complicated than orginally planned but we did the best we could. Here is also a picture from the concert, I ran the spotlight.(For some reason this picture will not upload being turned!)

David played intermural socceron the leisure league and his team made it all the way to the championship and won! They get T-shirts at the awards assembly at the end of the semester.

Here are some real Fangs up fans. My old roomates, Eryn & Gene along with Derek's girlfriend Katie and Megan Luke.

David's IBC company is doing well. If anyone is looking for a great gift David would be happy to sell you a cashmere scarf, beanies or rice bags. He also made it out to Rupert to help his Dad pull out the fence. Then we went to see the theatre production of The Caucasion Chalk Circle.

Last weekend we were able to make it out to Rupert for the Halloween/Birthday party. Kimberlys work scheduled chnaged and we were both able to make it and suprise everyone. We missed the trunk or treat but made it for the party.

Fall Fun

Things are going well. We are approaching midterms and so excited to get them over with and get on with the holiday season. A couple of weekends ago we went and helped pick apples at Mel and Tom's house. It was fun and now I have lots of apples in my freezer to use one day. We stayed here for Conference Weekend and spent some times getting things done and relaxing. We went out Saturday and bought
materials for curtains. We also developed some of our wedding photos! And are now trying to figure out where to put them all. On Sunday in between sessions we went to Mesa Falls. It was really cold but SO BEAUTIFUL. That is my favorite part of Fall we hardly ever see colors in Texas. I had also never made it out to the sand dunes and Egin lake so he took me out there too. The weather got really cold and we even had snow this weekend. I had my practical exam this weekend for my basic skills class and our camp out was rescheduled due to the winter storm warnings. I was glad because I had been really worried about getting hypot
hermia or something. It was lucky though because it gave me more time to spend with the Wilsons! They were able to come down for Mothers Weekend. We went to David and Chanae's soccer game. The next night we went to Battle of the Dance and all ate crab chowder. David and I slipped away for a bit and went out for ice cream with Derek/ Katie and Chad/Annie . It was fun to catch up and eat Mill-Hollow ice cream.

Catch Up Time

Hey everyone it has been a while to say the least but lets just say things got a little crazy!

July was spent working our little tails off and finishing all the wedding plans. August is where all the fun really began. I flew out to California to visit my roommate Celeste Olsen who lives in the Bay Area. I had so much fun and her family was so wonderful! We went to the beach, saw the redwoods and went to San Fransisco. Then ,I flew out to see David in Rupert he was nice enough to pick me up down in Utah so we had a nice drive back to Rupert and saw some of the family along the way. The next few days were really busy getting things together and all packed up again. Then we went to Pocatello, ID to pick up my older brother Jason from his mission. The next day we headed out to Cooke City Montana for the Allred Family Reunion (It had been 6 years since the last one). That was fun to see all the family again, go horseback riding and ride the zip-line. We even had some exciting bear stories to share. I was stuck inside the house for a good part of it though so that I could get better for the big day the following week since I was under the weather. Sunday we went back to Rupert and spent Monday heading towards Rexburg. David and I were able to bring up a carload of stuff to move into our new apartment.

Then came THE BIG DAY! My grandpa was able to seal us in the Rexburg Idaho Temple. Everything went well with the ceremony and pictures (except for a little wind). Pictures took us a while but we tried to be quick. That night we had the Rupert reception. It was really nice and we had a great turnout considering it was a Tuesday night.

The next day we flew back to Houston to get things ready for that reception. All went well and we had a great turnout too even though it was in the middle of the afternoon. On Monday we took the Wilsons to do a bit of sight seeing before they left. We left the next day for our Disney World Honeymoon. It was a lot of fun since David had never been before. We went to the Magic Kingdom and traveled the world at Epcot. The lines weren't as bad as we had expected too. We highly recommend going the first week of public school. We ended up leaving a bit earlier than anticipated due to Hurricane Gustav who was coming straight for my grandparents in Lousisana. We had the honor of evacuating them and 25 hours later at 5:30 am we safely arrived in Houston , Texas with my family. This gave us a couple of extra days to pack and get other things finalized and spend time with family.

We flew back to Idaho on September 3rd and got things organized in Rupert and were on our way in a heavily packed suburban to Rexburg. We finally completely finished moving in this past weekend! It was so exciting finally throwing away boxes and hanging pictures on the wall.

The weekend before school started we made it to Pocatello for a family outing at Aunt Janice's place. They have a really fun gigantic waterside in their backyard!

School is in full gear, when you think about it we are 1/6 of the way through already due to the shortened semesters! David is in the Integrated Business Core class at 7:45 every morning , which helps us to get up early. It should be a fun semester for him because they have to create a business and run it for the semester. He is out in the Tetons right now actually with his group on a retreat. I am starting to get into my fun classes now. I have switched my major from business to recreation management and am loving the change. I am also taking Culinary Arts 160 (basic cooking), a nutrition class ( I always want a candy bar right before that class!) Philosophy , Wilderness 1st Aid and Old Testament. I love my classes! Thats about all for us now we are focusing on school work and finishing those thank you cards!

Big News!!

So and many of you know I went down to Houston this last week.  I went down there with the intentions of asking Kimberly Allred to marry me.  It was to be a surprise so I did all the planning with her mother!  She helped out so much.  We were able to plan everything and get it ready without Kimberly knowing a thing!  So Sister Allred asked Kimberly's friend Amelia to help us with our plan!  This is how it all worked out:

Amelia took Kimberly out to a fancy Italian restaurant for her birthday.  They made reservations at a restaurant called Leonardo's.  So they arrived at the restaurant and a few minutes later Sister Allred and I showed up.  We called Amelia's phone and she told Kimberly that she would take the call outside.  So she came out to where we were and then I went around the corner to where Kimberly was!  When I got there I said her name and she looked up at me and was in complete shock for a minute.  She didn't know what was going on.

After she got over the shock she then gave me a hug and we sat down for dinner.  For some reason she lost her appetite and so she only wanted to order an appetizer!  I had been excited all day so I wasn't really very hungry either.  After we ordered our appetizers the owner of the store came out and told we would not leave his store hungry so he told us he was going to bring out a dish for us to eat.  He brought out a dish of Shrimp Scampi that he split for us!  That was really good because when we got our appetizers we realized how small they really were.

After we ate our Dinner plates the owner came out again and asked if we wanted any dessert and I said yes, so he said he would bring it right out.  I thought it was funny that he didn't ask us what we wanted, instead he just said he would bring it out.  Then the waitress brought out a plate  with a small white box and a blue ribbon that had writing o
n the edge that said "Will you marry me?"  *As shown in the picture*

As she started opening the box there wasn't anything inside of it.  So I then pulled the ring out of my pocket and got on one knee next to her and asked her if she would marry me!  She told me yes and I proceeded to put the ring on her hand and then we hugged!  The waitress was taking pictures of the whole thing so we decided to stop and look at the camera for a picture.

During this whole thing there was one other table of a
bout 4 people.  Apparently they were watching us the whole time because they were kinda excited.  After I proposed and we were taking pictures a lady that was at the table came out of the bathroom and got upset.  She was like "you didn't wait for me?"  She said "I was waiting all night and you finally ask when I was in the bathroom!?!"  To tell you the truth I wasn't really paying attention to anyone else around!  Sorry!

After we took some pictures and sat back down for a second the owner came back out with the waitress and they said that they would like to name a dish after us so they told us to pick one out and put our names on a piece of paper.  We finally decided to go with the Shrimp Scampi that we ate.  So they named it the David and Kimberly Wilson dish!  So if any of you are in Houston and want to eat Italian you will have to go to Loenardo's and try out the David and Kimberly Wilson dish!!

After we left we went to Kimberly's work so she could get the next couple of days off and so we could go get some things done!  We took pictures on Thursday and registered on both Thursday and Friday.  We basically ran around for three days and got as much done as we could!  I will have to put the engagement pictures on here later.  On Saturday Kimberly had to work for part of the day so I hung out with her family for most of the morning and then we did some more stuff after her work.  One of her roommates was around so she came over to visit and when she left we were both exausted from running around for three days so we went to sleep pretty fast.

Sunday we made pumpkin Chocolate chip muffins so we could deliver them to some people after church.  Kimberly's calling in the ward is assistant nursery leader, so I went with her to nursery.  That was great, how come nobody ever told me that all they do is play with kids for two hours.  I really enjoyed church and it went by pretty quick! :)  After church we took muffins to a sister in the ward who took our pictures for us to thank her and we took some to Amelia and her family to thank them for helping us!  That was fun to visit them.

This was a really fun trip and I am glad that Kimberly's family helped me out so that we could pull it all off.  I wish I could have stayed down there longer, but that is how I feel after every visit.  And it just makes every visit so much better!
