Things Cade Does I Love

  • This week Cade has been really into eating clementines.  It takes me a little time to peel and cut it so he can eat it and he gets impatient and yells.  I let him hold another oranges while I was getting his ready and he was all smiles.  He kept looking at the orange, then me.  He didn't want to put it down even when his food was ready.
  • Cade has learned to crawl backwards to get off the couch and bed.  Sometimes he just crawls backwards on the floor.  We call it the "moon-crawl."
  • When Kirk comes home, Cade gets super excited--as soon as he hears the key in the door.  He says "EEEEEE" and crawls over to Kirk as fast as he can.
Daddy's home.  Let's Dance!

  • Cade has recently started dancing.  When he hears music on the TV or radio he waves his arms around.  Sometimes he shakes his head back and forth really fast.  He dances when we sing songs too.  He also does this while he is eating if he really likes the food and wants more or if he gets excited.  He also really likes dancing with Kirk and I when we pick him up and flip him upside down or swing him around.  He just giggles and screams excitedly.
  • He shakes his sippy cup while he is drinking sometimes, just to make sure it's ready.
  • If I am eating something and sitting on the floor, Cade crawls over to me and helps me put it in my mouth.
  • He has an old cell phone we charged up for him.  He thinks it is the greatest thing ever.  The other day he kept putting it up to Kirk's head as if saying "its for you dad.  talk."
Love this little guy!

11 months

11 months seems to be kind of a forgotten age.  Maybe because they are so close to the ever-important 1 year mark.  Well, we made it to 11 months.
Physical changes
Cade now has 3 teeth on the bottom and 2 1/2 on top.  He got his first haircut a couple of weeks ago.  He is getting taller, but not too much heavier.  My guess is he weighs around 25 pounds.
Mobility
Cade is still not walking, but super close!  He loves to run/walk around the house holding onto one hand and will do it as long as you will.  He likes to chase balls and kick them too.  Cade's biggest accomplishment this month is learning to climb up on the couch.  Luckily, he learned to turn around and get off of the couch in just a couple of days without help.  He would love to be able to climb up on more things, but is still a little too short.  He is very good at crawing under things without bumping his head.  For a while, he even ducked to crawl under the dining table.
Eating
Not much has changed here.  Cade gets 4-4 ounce sippy cups of formula a day and has 3 meals.  He still loves yogurt and applesauce and get really excited for these.  He is getting more independent and wants to feed himself whenever possible.  He has also decided that Mom's food tastes better than his and often "asks" for the food I'm eating.  If you're going to have a snack during the day, you'd better be prepared to hide it or share, because Cade will ask for some (or all if you're not careful), even if he has just eaten!
Sleeping
Not much has changed here either.  Cade wakes up in the morning between 6 and 6:30, takes 2 naps (1.5-2hr each) and goes to be around 7 p.m.
Play
Favorite toys:  green ball, beach ball, books, cups (to build towers), and train.  He is starting to play "catch."  You roll a ball to him and he will either hand it back to you or throw it.  If he throws it though, you never know where it is going.  If it comes near you, you'd better pass it back!  Cade loves music and dancing around.  He likes singing songs and has just started dancing on his own.  He will play on his own for 10 min or so as long as I'm not doing anything interesting--then he wants to help.
Loves to pull the pillows off the couch--then put them back--then pull them off--you get the idea
Favorite non-toys (still): cell phones, lap top, remote
Other
Cade is getting better around strangers.  He used to cry everytime someone would talk to him.  Now, if Mom or Dad is holding him he is usually ok.
Cade isn't talking at all yet, but be understands a lot more words and phrases than I thought he would at this age.  For example:
Sit down.
Do you want a bath?
Do you want your drink?
Do you want more?  (he signs "more")
All done?
Are you ready for night night?
Go get it.
Where's your ball?  Where's your train?  Where's the books?
Turn around (as in, to get off the couch)
Where's your shoes?
Do you want to go?
Do you want to eat?
Go get in your chair.  (stands by high chair)
Put it in your mouth.
Can I have that?
Put your binky in bed.

Mommy's going to _______room, do you want to come?  (He knows where the bathroom, Cade's room and Mommy's room are.)
