Cade--21 months old
- Cade has a new favorite movie--Letter Factory by Leap Frog. If you have a toddler and have never seen this movie, get it! (A lot of libraries have it). Cade knows the sounds of 22 letters of the alphabet. We have some plastic letter magnets and we review the sounds with him, but he mostly learned them from the movie. He only knows 22 because the M and W and Z and N look the same, we lost the J and he just can't get Y. Anyway, he is a smart kid! He will also pick out letters from signs as we drive around.
- Cade is really good with directions. We were driving to church and he looked out the window and said "Aldi" (a grocery store we always go to). Later he pointed to the bank. He's only been to the bank once recently, but he got a sucker there and hasn't forgotten!
- Cade has also started learning colors. He can pick out green, blue and purple pom poms, but hasn't univeralized the concept. If you ask him what color something is, like a shirt, he always says blue.
- Cade has also adopted 2 care bears and a little Fisher Price man as his favorites. They join us for meals and him in bed. Sometimes we have to kiss them good night, brush their teeth or help them fold their arms for prayer. They are definitely the favorites right now.
- We asked my sister Melissa to cut out some vacuum pictures from the different ads they get with the paper. She mailed them to us and I laminated them. Cade loves to show off his vacuum pictures. He can point out the one with the mop in it too.
- We have a photo book with pictures of Cade with everyone in our families. In the one of him and my dad, they are vacuuming at my parents house. He looks at this page more than any other because of the vacuum.
- He loves to go to Wal-mart (or any store) and see the vacuum aisle.
- Cade likes to help. The other day we were bringing groceries up and Cade carried a 12-pack of toilet paper up the stairs. We live on the third floor and Kirk followed him up the whole way as he brought it.
- Some parents have a hard time getting toddlers to eat. We generally don't have this problem, but once in a while we have to play games. Cade will often play his own games and turn his bite of food into a train or plane, with the appropriate sound.
- Kirk likes to blow raspberries on Cades bare tummy. I saw Cade playing with his giraffe and trying to blow on its tummy. This is pretty funny because the giraffe is a stiff plastic and he can only get his face to the feet because the legs don't move.
- We have a picture on the wall of Jesus holding a sheep. Cade thought this was a cow for a while and would say "Jesus" and "moo." I kept telling him that it was a sheep. Now he knows, but he still says moo just to tease us.
- My dad has a thing he calls mom funnies, because we like to tease my mom. Well, Cade inherited this same trait. If I drop food on my lap or spill water or something at dinner, he laughs at me and keeps telling Kirk how mom was funny.
- Cade is getting more clingy to mom. He doesn't let me leave the room without following. He hates nursery unless Kirk or I are in there. He even gets upset if I leave home and he stays with Kirk (but calms down quickly). Hopefully this stage doesn't last too long.

Cami--3 months old
- Eating: Cami is nursing every 3-3.5 hours I try a bottle every few days and she plays around with it and chews on it. Today she drank an ounce in 20 min. I'm going to keep trying, hopefully she'll pick up on it someday.
- Sleeping: At 11 weeks, she slept 11 hours straight! Wow! Now she is almost 13 weeks and has slept at least 8 hours straight every night since then. I don't want to jinx it, but the last 3 nights have all been 11 hours! She goes to bed between 7 and 8 and wakes up between 6 and 7 am. She is still kind of all over the place with naps, but the last few days have been better. She usually takes at least one nap over 2 hours and a few shorter ones in a day. Some days are all short naps and I get pretty frustrated.
- She is falling alseep well too. I swaddle her and rock her for about 5 minutes and she starts getting those droopy eyelids so I stick her in bed and normally she is asleep quickly. YAY!! This makes my life so much better!
- Physical changes: at her 2-month check-up Cami was 13.5 lbs (90th percentile) and 25 inches long (95th). She looks really tall. She is wearing some 3 month clothes and some 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. Cami is getting much better at holding her head up when sitting or laying on her tummy.
- Play: Cami smiles all of the time and has recently started giggling and talking a lot. She is a really happy baby. She (mostly) only cries when I wrap her up to go to bed. She likes to watch our ceiling fans, rattly toys and Cade.
- She is starting to play peek-a-boo. I like to throw a blanket over her head and she will kick and wiggle until it comes off and give me a big smile.
- Cami loves her thumb. I can often hear here in bed making sucking noises and she will fall asleep with her thumb in her mouth sometimes. Other times she wiggles out of the swaddle when she wakes up and finds her thumb. She is always sucking on her hands.
Happy girl--sorry it is sideways
She sticks out her tongue all the time!
The girls. A rare one with me in it. Self-photo! 2 months
