Cade right now

No pictures yet. . . Cami is awake in bed and all I got was the text.  I'll post pictures soon!
  • We were eating dinner the other night and I was talking about how I heard that bamboo cutting boards are good and last a long time.  Nothing too important.  Cade said "bamboo in neighbor book, Mommy."  It's true.  We have a Berenstein Bears book about neighbors and they plant a bamboo fence.  Crazy he made the connection though.
  • Cade got some golf clubs for Christmas.  So now he has to go golfing.  He gets out his clubs, then he has to put on his shoes and jacket, find his hat and get some water and a snack.  Once he is all ready, he hits the ball once or twice and then takes a break and drinks his water and eats.  He wants to be just like Kirk, getting all the stuff ready.  He calls it "I go bolfing Mommy."
  • Cade often watches a movie in the morning while I shower.  We have 4 movies:  Leapfrog Numberland, Leapfrog Letter Factory, Raffi and Cars.  When I ask Cade what he wants to watch, he says "I pick one." which means he wants me to get all the cases down, he studies them for a bit and the chooses one.  Usually it is the same movie 4 days in a row and he will then tell me if it is already in the DVD player or not.
  • Cade is in love with our iPod touch.  He likes to play music on it and calls it his iPhone.  He will pick a song and listen for about 10 seconds and then shuffle it to a new song.  He tells me that he likes it loud.
  • Cade hung up his jacket and hat in on his hooks in the laundry room.  The jacket was crooked and the hat inside out, but he was excited.  He came running out and said "Mommy see, it looks nice."
  • Cade likes to go to Sportsman's Warehouse with Kirk.  His favorite aisle has about a hundred plastic bottles full of plastic beads used to make lures and bobbers.  He likes to pull out each bottle and look at the beads.
  • Cade told me that Cami had cute pants on.
  • Cade can put his own shoes on now.  He can also get his jammies and night time diaper off by himself (he's been doing that for a while) and get his pants on.
  • We saw the mower truck last week.  They always park in front of our house.  We were already outside and Cade was pushing his lawnmower around.  He got so excited to see the truck.  The guys weren't mowing the grass (it is January) but they were just pulling weeds or something.  Cade waved to them and yelled "Hi mower guys!" because that is what we call them.  He kept telling me "I help mower guys."  He was so excited that they were there.  We kept listening for the mowers and the blowers, but they never used them.
  • Cade has an ABC toy that he calls his computer.  It sings songs and tells you letters when you push the buttons.  He likes to go do his "work" on the computer.  Usually this requires a snack and the iPod music as well.
  • Cade takes very good care of Cami.  He likes to lay next to her, hold her bottle, get her drinks and toys and tries to help her walk.  He does not like it when she comes close to any toy that he is using and starts yelling "Ani ani" as she comes closer.
  • He is a very nice, helpful guy.  We love having Cade in our family.  He's definitely not perfect and has breakdowns almost daily, but he is a good kid.

The rest of Christmas Break

We got to stay in Utah for a week and a half after Christmas.  Kirk flew out the night of the 25th and back in on New Year's day.  We had some fun while he was away though. On the 26th I went to the temple with Kirk's family and his cousin who is leaving on a mission this month.  I also went shopping with Melissa.  We had her name for Christmas and decided to give her a new dress or skirt and let her pick it out.  Melissa and I went to Downeast and found some great deals so she ended up getting a dress, a shirt and some leggings from us.  It was fun.  I found a pencil skirt and some leggings for me too.  The next day we hung out with my family and played.  My grandparents came over for dinner and we watched the BYU football game (not so fun).  Cade had lots of fun playing with Alan and Kristi.  They are living in my parents' basement right now and every day Cade asked if he could go visit them.  He helped them vacuum, ate their food and played on the iPad.  It was fun to see him enjoy it so much.

Cami really warmed up to my parents as well.  She was a little uncertain at first, but after we had been there a few days, she got so excited to see them, especially Grandma!
Saturday, the 27th, we went to Jump on It and invited Kirk's family.  We had a lot of fun playing on the trampolines.

Cade and Connor needed a break

Sunday we went to church and played a bunch of games while Cade and Cami were napping.  It was fun.  I took the kiddos and went to visit Kirk's parents that evening.  Monday we went up to Southtowne Mall and met up with some friends we knew in Mississippi who are living in Utah right now.  We got to ride the train and play at the indoor playground.  It was fun, but Cade was being a pill.  He loved the train but wouldn't go play and laid on the floor asking if we could go home.  The next day was New Year's Eve.  We stayed home pretty much all day and just played and hung out.  Melissa and I went to get frozen yogurt in the afternoon and we had a yummy dinner and watched Les Miserables that night.  We really enjoyed staying with my family.  Cade and Cami loved the attention and the new toys.  We ate yummy food and I was able to leave a few times without any babies!

Wednesday was January 1 and Kirk flew in at 9:30.  I picked him up and we went home for our New Year's party.  We had my family, including Alan and Kristi, Kirk's parents, Connor, and Aunt Marsha, Uncle Steve and Cody all there.  We played a few minute-to-win-it games, ate lunch and enjoyed being together.  I made a brownie-mint ice cream dessert that was really good too.  Definitely a keeper.  The next day Kirk wanted to go elk hunting but wasn't quite ready.  He went out spotting with a friend.  We took the afternoon and went exploring up in Pleasant Grove Canyon. I had a lot of fun hiking.  I haven't been out for a long time.  Kirk and Cody went back to the same canyon on Friday hunting.  They spotted a few elk, but nothing within range.  Maybe next time.
Saturday we stayed home most of the day while Kirk went fishing.  We got everything packed up.
Sunday we drove home.  It was a really smooth day.  We only had to stop twice and the kids were relatively happy the whole time.  Cade spent about 2 hours and looked at pictures on my tablet, we watched movies on the laptop and ate lots of snacks.  When we got home we got to open some more presents that Kirk had left under our tree and Cade and Cami got a new playhouse that I had made.

It was a fun trip and I am so glad that we got to spend so much time with family.  We love being able to stay at both grandparents houses and see them all the time.

Cami--10 Months

My little girl is getting to be a big baby!  It is hard to imagine life without her.  She is very friendly and makes everyone smile.

Physical changes:  Cami still has no teeth, but I think they are getting close.  She weighs 20 pounds now (50th percentile) and is 30 inches long (95th).  She loves to climb stairs and can now go backwards down them.  She loves to hold hands and walk around or push things and walk with them.

Eating:  Cami eats as much as Cade.  She still has 4 6-oz bottles a day.  She loves to sit in her high chair and shove food in her mouth as fast as possible.  She had a lot of fun while we were staying with Kirk's parents.  She would eat a bite or two and then give the dog some food and then eat some more.  She loves to torture the dog and climb all over him and pull his hair.  I think he puts up with it because of the food.

Sleeping:  Cami wakes up around 6:30 in the morning, naps around 9 for 1-1.5 hours and then again from about 1:30 to 3:30, then goes to bed by 7.  She is an excellent sleeper at night.  She likes to wave night-night to people.  I give her the binky in her room and sing a primary song or two and she starts reaching for her bed.  Yay!

Intellectual:  Cami has gotten so much smarter in the last month.  She can do the sign for "all done" and started doing "more" yesterday.  She loves to find a new toy or something cool and bring it over to me and shove it in my face until I tell her how neat it is.  When she is tired, hungry or poopy, she crawls over and climbs on my legs until I help her.  Cami is understanding words like "turn around" (on the stairs), "put it in your mouth" ( at the table) and "go get it."  When you ask her where someone is, she turns and looks at them.
Cami is very friendly and will walk down the bench at church or play with the person behind us.  Cade was way to shy for that.  She still loves her momma very much, but will smile and say hi to anyone.
