We were so excited to have my parents and Melissa come visit in the beginning of June. They had not been to our house yet, even though we've lived here 10 months! We had a lot of fun and Cade and Cami loved having them here. Cade knew they were coming and he was so excited we ended up going outside and waiting for them. Luckily it was only a few minutes! Grandpa asked Cade to show him the house because they had never been here before. Cade took them inside and showed them our vacuum right off (in a closet in the entry way) and then was about done with the tour. At least he got the most important part. We mostly hung out that evening at home and played. Kirk had a super busy week and came home for dinner and then went back to work to do his notes.
The next day was Wednesday. We went up to my Aunt Darlene's neighborhood pool and went swimming. Cade was very happy walking around in the kiddy pool and jumped in a couple of times, as long as you kept his head out of the water. Cami was very nervous at first, but by the end was happy walking around too. Melissa had fun jumping in the big pool and we finally convinced her to dive off the board--then she made me do it. It was a lot of fun.
That afternoon we left the sleeping kids with my dad and went out shopping a bit. My mom wanted to get Cade a birthday present and I told her about a toy leaf blower we had seen at Target. So she and my dad took both Cade and Cami there and got the blower and a Minnie Mouse ball for Cami. They were so excited. Cade calls it his special blower and loves to play with it. We had a bbq for dinner with hamburgers and corn on the cob. Yumm.
Thursday is the day the mower truck comes to our house. Cade spent the morning convincing everyone to take him outside to see the truck, the push mower and the riding mower. He was outside for about 2 hours. We also took a quick trip to Home Depot to get a nut to fix a chair and see their mowers. We had Panda Express for lunch and spent the afternoon at home. I gave Cade and Cami a bunch of water to play with in bowls that afternoon and we all had popsicles. That evening Darlene came over for a couple of hours while Gary had a meeting at our church. Kirk and I went out for milkshakes with some friends at Sonic too. We haven't been out with another couple for about a year and it was a lot of fun.
Friday morning my parents went to the temple. While they were gone, Cade took a 3-foot fall onto cement trying to climb over a wall. He was pretty upset and needed some help. We watched a movie for a while and he laid down on my bed. Later that morning we went to the Richland Farmer's market, had a picnic at Howard Amon park by the Columbia River, went to see Kirk's office, and stopped by Winco for a few groceries. I thought it was fun to show my family around where we live. I think they enjoyed it too. We went to a new restrauant called Fiesta that night and it ended up being a very eventful dinner. Melissa left halfway through to meet Dar, Kirk came late and then got called into work, and Cami smashed black beans all over her face and head. The food was pretty good though :).
Saturday morning we all hiked badger mountain. It is a large brown hill about 1500 ft high, but it is a great view of the cities from the top. We played at the park at the trailhead for a while and then went home for lunch. Kirk went back to work to finish up some notes again that afternoon and then we all went to Darlene's house for dinner and games.
Sunday was a normal Sunday. Kirk and I both had meetings in the morning so it was nice to have some help. My mom and Cade made cookies. I ended up bringing both kids home with my mom in the middle of church and putting them to bed. We ate a yummy pork rib dinner that my dad made and played a lot. They left early Monday morning.
| Cami would do this all day! |
I think Cade's favorite things were playing with his new blower and his trimmers, floating around with a helium balloon with my dad and visiting Lindsey, riding his bike to the trails and getting lots of attention. Cami loved running away from my mom and reading stories and just eating. I always love having visitors. It is always fun to have more people to talk to and another reason to get out and do stuff. I am super glad that they could come. It was sad to watch them leave, but we will see them in Utah next month so it's not too far away.
| Of course, they loved the tablet! |
