While we wait (slightly impatiently) to be discharged from the hospital today, I figured I would put my time to good use and share some more pictures of our little cutie... the same cutie that kept us up half the night because he just wanted to nurse, nurse, nurse and Mama doesn't have much for him to eat yet!

Christmas Morning 2014
On Christmas morning Brian was up and out of the house before the rest of us were awake (typical work day), and I got up a few minutes early so I could get the camera ready to capture the Christmas magic. I forced the kids take a picture on the steps before they got to see if Santa came, but they were fairly cheerful about my request!
First up were the presents that Santa left - a box of chocolate Santa bars for each kid, a Spiderman Lego set and watch for Nathan, a castle and Minny Mouse doll for Sara, plus stockings stuffed full of other fun little toys!
Skipping straight to opening some family presents - Thomas sticker books and decks of cards from Aunt Karen, Uncle Joe and Kevin.
The fabulous scarfs that Aunt Karen crocheted for the kids!
Brian gave us a call on Facetime and we were glad to get to get to see and talk to him for a bit that day!
Nathan putting together his Lego Spiderman truck - this was and continues to be a HUGE hit with him. I had been trying to put off introducing Legos for as long as possible (thinking about choking hazards for the baby and delaying foot injuries for myself), but he was TOTALLY ready for them!
He was single-minded in his determination to put it all together. He REALLY loved following the instruction book and did a great job with looking at the instructions and figuring out exactly where each piece was supposed to go. I helped by searching out the pieces he would need for the next step.
I finally made him pause about halfway through so we could finish eating breakfast - up until that point all the kids had to eat was a Santa chocolate bar and I wanted to get some "real" food in them before they crashed from their sugar high! At that point I also decided I needed to start getting ready to leave since we were supposed to pick up Grandmother and Granddaddy around 10 and take them to the lake house for Christmas lunch and some family time.
I left Nathan to his own devices while I showered and did my make-up. What he ended up with by the time I was finished didn't quite match the drawing, but he was fine with that. Unfortunately he got to a point where each new piece he tried to stick on wold make the whole thing break apart - which led to tears of frustration! I assured him that we could pack up all the pieces (well, I left some of the tiniest pieces at home to try and prevent losing stuff) and take them with us to Pawpaw and Gran's and he could keep working on it there. Brian later informed us that putting the wheels on VERY LAST would have prevented most or all of our problems.
During much of this time, Sarah was busying herself by putting up window clings that Santa had left in her stocking.

Up next time - the rest of Christmas Day at the lake house!

Christmas Week Overview and Christmas Eve Pictures
I'm going to try and buckle down and get Christmas pictures up on the blog! T minus 3 days until my due date, but only God knows when Baby Boy is actually going to make his appearance, so I've got to hurry if I'm going to get December highlights documented before his arrival!
Christmas week was a rough one this year in terms of Brian's schedule. Brian was on call on Christmas Day as well at the "late doc" on the 23rd and the 24th, which left me and the kids lots of time by ourselves to fill that week. We ended up alternating days between the grandparents' houses, which worked out perfectly (at least from my point of view). Here's the overview of our week:
Opening presents on Christmas Eve morning with Granddad and Nana:
Nathan got a "Cranky the Crane" and "Thomas Wash Station" to add to his wooden train collection. They were both a BIG hit!
Sarah got a new baby doll named Sophie along with lots of accessories - her favorite being the rolling suitcase that has a special seat for her doll!
Nathan also got the game Qwerkle and Nana and I tried to play it with him after his quiet time. Nana's expression is pretty appropriate for how she and I both felt about the game - confused! And although Nana and I struggled to get one tile on the board during most of our turns, Nathan had no problem making amazing plays throughout most of the game.
After dinner we hurried home to squeeze in the opening of the Christmas pajamas and the family reading of "The Night Before Christmas" and the story of Jesus' birth from the Bible before bedtime.
For the first time, we all had our "stockings hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there"! (Gran and I spent the month passing supplies back and forth to get stockings made for Brian and the kids to match the one that my great-grandmother made for me when I was born. With good foresight, we also made Baby Boy's stocking with the exception of the embroidery, which is awaiting his birth and naming.)
We also left out a plate of cookies and milk for Santa (of course)!
All that was left was anticipation of the morning to come!!

- Monday Dec 22 - Brian off early. The kids spent the night at Gran and Pawpaw's house and Brian and I had a date night.
- Tuesday, Dec 23 - Brian "late doc". After my OB appointment and a last minute shopping trip for Christmas "jommies", the kids and I spent the rest of the morning dipping chocolates at Gran and Pawpaw's house.
- Wednesday, Dec 24 - The kids and I spent Christmas Eve with Nana and Granddad, where, to the kids' delight, they got to open the first of their presents! Brian was the "late doc" again, but thankfully was able to get off before 4pm so he could enjoy some family time with all of us!
- Thursday, Dec 25 - Christmas morning at home with me and the kids. Brian Facetimed us from the hospital, so that was nice. We opened Santa gifts and presents from Aunt Karen and family while eating sausage balls and chocolate Santa candy bars (part of their Santa gifts). Then we picked up Granddaddy and Grandmother and headed to the lake house for our first Christmas dinner and to spend the rest of the day with Pawpaw and Gran.
- Friday, Dec 26 - Brian off (finally!), so we had family Christmas gifts in the morning and a lazy day around the house. After naps, we took the kids' new balance bikes over the Granddad and Nana's house to ride, then had our second Christmas dinner with them, Uncle David, Aunt Bridget and Bridget's mom and brother.

A Preschool Christmas Performance
On their last day of preschool before Christmas break, Nathan and Sarah's school put on a Christmas show for all the kids' families. The classes had been practicing for weeks (months?), but neither of the kids had mentioned much to me about it.
On the way to school that morning, Sarah told me that her class (the 2s) was going to sing Jingle Bells. To which Nathan then responded, "No Sarah! The 1s are doing "Jingle Bells", YOUR class is doing "Jingle Bell (Something)" and the threes are doing "Jingle Bell (Something Else)"! And my class is doing TWO songs - "Feliz Navidad" with our maracas and then we are doing the hand motions for "Away in a Manger" but not singing it." Well, Nathan pretty much nailed it on the head as usual!
The three younger classes all got up on stage and rang their jingle bell instruments to some variation of the Jingle Bell song (which was of course adorable, except for the poor kid that cried the whole way through!). I had prepped Sarah that morning so we wouldn't have a repeat of the Halloween Parade, reminding her that she should stay up on stage so I could see her sing her song, NOT run to me. "Yes", she responded, "I'm supposed to stand on the tape until my teacher says to go!" She did great - she smiled almost the whole time and didn't get a bit of stage fright!
Here's Sarah-girl, ringing her bells.
Here's Sarah's whole class, though I think they're missing a few friends (she's second from the left).
And here's a short clip of the performance.
I know I'm biased, but I thought the stars of the whole show were the 4s and 5s! They all sang their hearts out to "Feliz Navidad" and then almost made me cry with their "Away In a Manger" signing!
Here's Nathan, thrilled that he got the BLUE maracas for the performance!
And Nathan's whole class (he's third from the right, with the bright red patch on his jeans!).
And the "Feliz Navidad" video.
And then came the sign-language "Away in a Manger". Nathan nailed the whole thing!
And the video.
Nanthan's class then lead everyone in prayer before we got to enjoy the treats. I loved peeking to see them so intent on their prayer!
And to make the day extra-special, both grandmothers came to enjoy the performance with me! The kids were thrilled to have their own dedicated fan section to congratulate and hug on them when they got done with the show.
