Full Time Position

Kris' internship with SRP did turn into a full time job. He started in May and was hired as a Rotational Engineer. It is a 2-3 year program designed to familiarize engineers with the company. So, our first rotation is here in St. Johns, where we will be through December. Then, we will probably head to the valley. He will be at a plant for 6 months at a time and then go to a different one. So, when we do move, we will try to see where he might end up and try to find something somewhat central to all the plants... Hopefully, then we won't have to move every 6 months. We are excited for the opportunity that this presents us. Kris is enjoying his job and doing well in it. He has been recognized a couple of times for his good work.

Kaylee is 4 and wants to start school right now. She is smart, loves learning, and knows quite a bit. So, we will just have to see. She is going to start a dance class in a couple of weeks. Ever since she saw the girls dancing at basketball games, she has been asking if she could dance with the girls. She is very excited and wants it to start right now. Maizy is 2 and is potty trained. Yeah! She follows Kaylee around and does everything that her sister does. We have 2 of several things because they have to have what the other one has. The girls love playing outside, pretending, getting into mischief, camping, being with family, singing, dancing, playing the piano, swimming, going for walks, swinging, and whatever else they can convince mom or someone else to do. We went camping for a couple of weeks and they were so upset that it was time to go home. They were outside, dirty, and only had to have an occasional bath! They were in heaven.

I did get some pictures taken of the girls and need to post them soon. They are so cute! I will try, but no promises of when I will get them on!

Job Opportunity

Kris was offered a job as a student intern in St. Johns at SRP, a power plant. We are hoping that this internship will lead to a full time job. We are excited! He still has to finish up his thesis, which he has until May to do. We will be living with Kris' parents, which will be fun... we only have to figure out where to put all of our things!

Maizy had tubes put in her ears on November 10th. Kaylee had surgery on the vesicoureteral reflux on December 6th. She is recovering well. We're just waiting to see how successful it was. Time will tell if she gets any further infections.

That's just a quick update for now. Maybe I will write once we're settled in St. Johns, but no promises!

Pictures

Kris' Aunt Julie took family pictures for us in March. Maizy was 9 months old and Kaylee wasn't quite 3 yet. They sure change quickly. I love these pictures though. Aunt Julie did a great job!
I love this picture of Kaylee in black and white. It just reminds me of an old black and white picture with how straight face she is.

Kris, Brittany, Kaylee, and Maizy.... It's nearly impossible to get smiles on both kid's faces, especially when Kaylee was being stubborn. Of course Kaylee would be smiling and then Maizy would have her hand in her mouth or something. Anyways, I love the pictures and my girls.

It's Been A While

I haven't posted in forever, I know...

We are living back in Flagstaff and Kris is working on his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Hopefully he will be done in December but that all depends on how quickly his thesis comes together. It has been quite the challenge with Kris in school and gone all the time. It's hard keeping up with the house and the girls. I love my girls. They keep me so busy! I love being a wife and mother. It's everything that I've ever wanted and more. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Kaylee is 3 now and Maizy is 1. I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. The girls have grown so quickly. Kaylee can be quite my little helper but she can also be quite the handful. She likes to play with Maizy and loves her too much sometimes. However, like every other siblings, they have their moments and don't like to share or be around each other. Kaylee loves being outside, learning, watching movies, helping, coloring, reading, playing with Play-Doh, and many other things that 3 years old enjoy. She loves being on the computer and will probably know how to work it better than me before too long. Maizy is busy and tries to keep up with Kaylee. She has been walking for a month and is talking a ton. She doesn't like baby food anymore and wants to eat whatever we are eating and whenever we eat. She loves food, baths, being outside, Kaylee, and so much more.

We finally sold our house in Payson. It was sad but also a great relief to have it off our hands. Heavenly Father truly has watched over us and guided us in our situation. Kris always wanted to get his masters degree so it was Heavenly Father's way to get us there. We were too hard-headed to listen so we had to get laid off to get us back to Flagstaff.

Also, we have found that Kaylee has Vesicoreteral Reflux. It is treatable and we have a few options. However, I don't think we would have found out had we stayed in Payson. Our pediatrician just didn't seem to listen to me. Basically the ureter, which connects the kidney and the bladder, is abnormal in size. It is allowing the urine to flow backwards. We can put her on an antibiotic for a year, do a Deflux where they make a bump in the ureter, or we can do a lapriscopic or a open surgery. We are still trying to make a decision. She was getting repeated urinary tract infections and kidney infections.

Although it's been almost 2 years since Kris was laid off, we really have been blessed and Heavenly Father has directed our paths to where we need to be.

Well, that's about all for now. I have know idea how often I will post but at least you all know we are alive and well!

You can look at a catalog on http://www.discoverytoysinc.com or come to the party at my parent's house on Wednesday, October 14th from 4- 6 pm. Let me know if you have any questions or want any toys.

Maizy 11 Weeks Old

This was the first time that I put shoes on Maizy so I figured I would get a few pictures.

Maizy loves this little bear. She is such a cuddler. In order to go to sleep, she has to be holding the bear or a blanket that is soft. Whatever works!

Maizy pulled her headband over her eyes and was just sitting there, not even crying. She reminded me of a little pirate, only cuter!

Maizy's Blessing Day

We blessed Maizy on September 6 and she was 9 1/2 weeks old. We were at a family reunion in August so we waited until September. We had already moved to Flagstaff but went back to our old ward in Payson to bless her. Her dress is beautiful and special dress... my mother-in-law made it from her wedding dress! What a special dress this will be to Maizy.

Photo Shoot- Maizy 9 Weeks Old

I know I'm skipping ahead from the time Maizy was born to more recent, but my sister will be here from Georgia in a week and she has to see some pictures before she comes. I was trying to get pictures of the girls together with them both looking, but it was near impossible, with a baby and a 2 year old... I'm not sure who was harder to get to look at the camera! I was surprised when we were done, that we did get a few cute ones.

Pictures at Last!

I was thinking the other day and realized that I really need to put some pictures on my blog. My sister that lives in Georgia hasn't even seen pictures of Maizy, except for when she was first born and she is 3 months old today. Oh, how the time flies! With having a new baby, moving, trying to get settled, trying to get our house up for sale, having a 2 year old, and doing everything else I have to do such as clean, cook, laundry, baths, bills... I haven't had much time to do anything other than day to day things. Here are a few to start... hopefully, more will follow tomorrow... but if not tomorrow, in the near future.

Dad and Maizy

Kaylee and Grandma Curtis see Maizy for the first time... and yes, the clock in the background is correct. It was after 11 pm before they came to the hospital. She was with my parents who had to meet my sister in Globe to trade her cars. However, Kaylee had to come see her new sister. We sent a text to my dad a picture and Kaylee just sat there holding the phone and looking at the picture. When the picture went away, Kaylee threw a fit until they put it back on the phone. Kaylee has loved Maizy from the very moment she saw her.

A friend in need

I'm not very good at putting my thoughts into words, but I will do my best...

On August 19, 2009, my friend from high school, Jamilyn Davies Haban, lost her husband and best friend of 5 years. Jami and Kameron got married 3 months after Kris and I and then had their son, Kason (who is now 2 1/2), 3 months before we had Kaylee. Jami and I have remained close friends and my heart aches for her. As I attended the funeral, the Spirit was so strong and you could feel the peace and comfort. Kameron is no longer suffering and in pain. He accomplished his mission on earth and is now serving our Heavenly Father. Even with this knowledge that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings, I cannot imagine how someone can cope with this. I cannot express to Jami how bad I feel and how much I wish that I could help her. The loss of you best friend, your eternal companion, the father to your child... It is more than I could bare, but Jami has handled it all so well... much better than I would expect or would handle if it were me. So, this is one way that I can try to help.

Kameron was diagnosed with Lupus about a year ago and recently passed away after being in the hospital for about 6 weeks. It was 6 weeks of a roller coaster ride for Jami and their families. Kameron was sedated and had to be on oxygen, breathing tubes, and feeding tubes. One day he seemed to be doing good and then the next day they weren't sure how long he was going to make it. I can't recall all the details, but if you would like to read more, you can visit their blog at http://kamandjami.blogspot.com.

Through this trial, Jami has remained strong and steadfast. She has handled the loss of her husband by relying on the Lord. Jami has a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She knows that families can be together forever. Seeing Jami struggle through all of this has strengthened my testimony of eternal families. It breaks my heart to see Jami suffer but when I talked to her at the funeral, she said, "It's going to be okay." From reading her blog, I can tell that she is going to be okay. She has family and friends that will help her where they can. She will make it through this trial, although it is going to take a lot of prayer and time. Please pray for Jami, Kason, and their families.

Jami is now faced with many decisions and a hard time. She now has to decide what to do with her life, how to take care of her little boy, and how to pay all the hospital bills that piled up; as if coping with the loss of her husband is not enough. So, in an effort to help Jami, there are several different fundraising events that are going on... a benefit concert, a photography raffle, donations at Bank of America and PayPal, photographs for sale by her brother, and much more. If you can help Jami in anyway, it would be appreciated. To find out more information, click on the button on the side "Support Kameron and Jami" or visit their fundraiser blog at http://www.habanfundraiser.blogspot.com/. Kameron touched many people's lives and now it's our turn to help his family and touch their lives. Jami is one of my dearest friends and I wish I could help her more. She is always thinking of others and what she can do for them. Now, I have an opportunity to try and help her. Please do what you can. Thanks!
