another weekend

the family
We had another weekend filled with some of the same but also with some fun mixed in. Saturday morning was spent at the temple as usual. Saturday evening we met the Perschons in Kaysville for dinner and fun at Boondocks. We take turns planning a family event each month with Jake's siblings and parents so it gives us a chance to see each other. It's a lot of fun and it was so nice of Jake's family to meet us half way in Kaysville.

Jake and his sister Ashlee

of course we need one shot of us actually bowling:

We finished the weekend off on Sunday when we had some wonderful friends over for dinner and went to bed early to get started on another week.

a party in my head

Have you heard the song "Party in my Head"? It's fun and also funny at the same time.  But I can relate because it happens to me all the time. Especially when I'm lying in bed trying to fall asleep and I can't stop thinking about everything I need to do and I keep promising to myself that I will wake up early tomorrow so I can get a good start on it and the party just keeps on going until much later than I wanted and then I eventually fall asleep. The only problem is that since the party in my head went on for so long I'm exhausted in the morning and I don't end up getting early...

hopefully if you have a party in your head it's more fun than mine :)

But I did have a fun, actual "party" last night when I hosted book club. Most of the ladies in the club don't know me very well since I was just invited by my neighbor to join. However, they were all very kind and it was a good opportunity to invite them into our home since they all live nearby.  I made some fruit pizzas and also tried this recipe. It was very yummy.
I guess having two different parties in one night is a good thing. Just as long as I don't have a party in my head tonight. Waking up at 3am doesn't go well with a late night. :)

$2 steal

my blog hasn't been very exciting lately; and I have no guarantees that it will get better soon, but that's ok.

Last week was good, but fairly uneventful.  We were able to plant some of our garden and I had a craft night with some friends, which is always fun.
Other then that, I had a job interview, went to the gym and Jake and I enjoyed some time watching White Collar together.

Wednesday I went to Kohl's because I always do when I get the free $10 coupon on the mail. $10 off any purchase is great.  Sometimes I need something in particular so I  use it for that but otherwise I try to stay as close as I can to the $10 so I don't go over. At the same time I don't want to pick something that is only $7 because that means that there are $3 of free stuff I could be getting.  (I know I sound crazy).

This is what I ended up with.

It was on clearance for $11.99, which means that after my coupon and tax it was $2 and change.  I have no idea if I will use it often, but I will definitely be giving it a try.  I've heard that the cake pop version is great and makes perfectly round cake balls, but I haven't talked to anyone who has tried the pie pop one. I'm not even a big pie person.  But for $2, I figured it may be worth a try.

Easter weekend

We had a wonderful weekend, as it sounds like most of you did. Friday night we had date night with some wonderful neighbor friends. We played games, talked and had dessert. It was great.

Saturday we worked in the temple and, although it was extra crazy, we loved it as always. We came home, took a nap and then organized the garage. I also painted a few more items.

Jake made shelves for his workbench in the garage and in the process told me that I can't buy anymore paint until all of it is used. I'm not worried, because I'm pretty sure I'm done with paint for a few years.

We went to bed exhausted on Saturday night and looking forward to Easter morning.  Easter was a wonderful day- filled with the spirit and a great day of reflection.  I'm glad we didn't have to lead and play the music- that always makes my day less stressful.

Easter morning I listened to this wonderful talk on the Resurrection of our Savior.

These words bring me comfort and peace.

I think of how dark that Friday was when Christ was lifted up on the cross.
On that terrible Friday the earth shook and grew dark. Frightful storms lashed at the earth.
Those evil men who sought His life rejoiced. Now that Jesus was no more, surely those who followed Him would disperse. On that day they stood triumphant.
On that Friday the Apostles were devastated. Jesus, their Savior—the man who had walked on water and raised the dead—was Himself at the mercy of wicked men. They watched helplessly as He was overcome by His enemies.
On that Friday the Savior of mankind was humiliated and bruised, abused and reviled.
It was a Friday filled with devastating, consuming sorrow that gnawed at the souls of those who loved and honored the Son of God.
I think that of all the days since the beginning of this world's history, that Friday was the darkest.
But the doom of that day did not endure.
The despair did not linger because on Sunday, the resurrected Lord burst the bonds of death. He ascended from the grave and appeared gloriously triumphant as the Savior of all mankind.
And in an instant the eyes that had been filled with ever‐flowing tears dried. The lips that had whispered prayers of distress and grief now filled the air with wondrous praise, for Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God, stood before them as the firstfruits of the Resurrection, the proof that death is merely the beginning of a new and wondrous existence.
Each of us will have our own Fridays—those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays.
But I testify to you in the name of the One who conquered death—Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come.

The Resurrection transformed the lives of those who witnessed it. Should it not transform ours?

For personal reasons, I have felt recently like I have had some dark "Fridays". But, because of Christ's resurrection, I have hope that Sunday will come.

cheese and pepperoni dip

While in Idaho Falls last week, I spent quite a while at a doctor's office with Grandma and Mom.  While there, I flipped through some magazines and found some new recipes I wanted to try in Taste of Home.  Saturday, we tried cheese and pepperoni dip. It was very good, we used breadsticks for the dip and it was fun to try it.

I would recommend it.

Sunday update

This weekend we relaxed and enjoyed General Conference. It was amazing, as always and my spirit was nurtured by eternal truth.  We were also able to spend Saturday night with some great friends.  I finally got some baby gifts ready for 3 of my friends who recently have had or who are ready to have babies- all boys!

We also had some yummy popcorn- my new favorite treat.

Friday night we drove down to Salt Lake for a mission reunion in the Salt Lake City temple. It was wonderful and great to see such wonderful people.

Wednesday-Friday I was in Idaho Falls hanging out with my mom and Grandma. I was also able to see a brother and 2 nephews so it made for a great week.

while in Idaho Falls, we enjoyed some yummy frozen yogurt- have you ever had snicker doodle frozen yogurt? It was amazing!

I am excited for a new month, along with new goals and warmer weather.
