We took the train to Lavander and walked to the Lavendar hawker centre.
We had some special pancake, beef noodles, prawn noodles and apple-orange juice for dinner.
Then we took a 15 minute walk to block 25 (not sure the road name)
So what was so special about block 25?
It was where he played block catching (estate catching), where he cycled, where he picked up hokkien and bad words, where he ran away from tuition.
Block 25 was where he grew up.
He showed me where his dad used to bring him.
He showed me where the yearly taoist rituals were held.
He showed me the Mama shop that he goes with his grandfather.
He remembered that the corridor was big and wide.
He remembered that the walkway to one of the bridges was long.
He remembered that his play area was huge.
But when we went there yesterday, everything seem small, narrow and short.
Simply because we're bigger, taller and older.
Then we walked to Selegie for famous (and expensive) tau huay, tau huay zhui and you tiao.
That was our first date night. Simple affair. But we liked it. It was nostalgic.
So what is date night? There'll be days where we meet our friends together, there'll be days we spend with our family, there'll be days we spend with our own group of friends. So we commit one day a week for date night, just to spend time with each other, do something meaningful and enjoy each other's company.
Looking forward to the weekly date nights from now on! YAY!
