Daniel finished his 3rd quarter of his 3rd year of dental school a week ago! How crazy is that? I can't believe at this time next year he will be finishing up. Where does the time go? So proud of my almost-dentist husband.
For his week off, we took a little trip down south to visit some Ortho schools. Daniel will be applying for an orthodontics residency in June, and will hopefully have interviews this fall, ending with a "match day" in November which will determine where we live for the next 2-3 years of our lives. We are hoping and praying to end up somewhere different than LA..preferably somewhere in the south where it feels a little more familiar and the people are alot nicer. Ha! We flew down to Oklahoma on Monday. Daniel's older brother, Spencer, completed his orthodontics residency there about a year ago. Daniel really loved OU and we could easily picture ourselves living in the open fields of Edmund. While we were there, we had to drive up to Stillwater and visit OSU so that Evalyn could meet her Uncle Andrew! Drew was so great to give us the tour of OSU, and we even got to walk on the football turf after hours :) I loved seeing Andrew in his element, and Evalyn took to him right away! Lately she has been experiencing some intense "stranger danger", but that was non existent with Andrew. We love you Boo! Thanks for taking the time to show us around. If we end up down there, you'll have 3 more cheerleaders rooting for you at every home football game.

In front of Boone Pickens Stadium!
After Oklahoma, we drove down to Dallas to check out the Baylor program. It worked out so perfectly because my best friend Katie and her new husband Alan are now living in Plano, which is right outside of Dallas! It was SO fun to see them and Katie even took a day off of work to play with me and Evalyn while Daniel was at Baylor! I had never spent alot of time in Dallas but thought the surrounding areas were beautiful. Katie and I went to the Dallas Farmers Market, took some pictures of miss Evalyn in some Texas Bluebonnets, she went swinging (swung?) for the first time, and we ate lots of Bluebell. All in all, a perfect trip. I loved seeing Katie and would just die if we got the chance to live by them for a few years! Daniel thought that no school could be better than Oklahoma, but Baylor was awesome! Here's to hoping that we have a tough decision to make in the fall.

After spending a few days in Dallas, we headed down to my neck of the woods. Daniel's brother, Jayson, is a first year medical student at UT-Houston, which is another school Daniel is super interested in. We were able to spend time with Jayson after Daniel checked out the school (and again, LOVED it). I was so sad that his wife and baby girl weren't in town while we were! What are the chances?! Next time :) Downtown Houston is a little crazy, but how fun would it be to live so close to friends and family? Oh man. I keep saying I shouldn't have gone on this trip because it's totally getting my hopes up to have Daniel go to one of these schools! If only there weren't hundreds of other people wanting the exact same thing as us. We loved seeing Jayson and can't wait to one day meet Clara and see Steph!

The last 4 days of our trip were spent in Sugarland. We got to stay with the Suter family, and little Evalyn got to sleep in Kelly's old bedroom. I couldn't help but think while I was putting her to bed about how not too long ago I was there every weekend having sleepovers with Kel in the same room. Time has gone by so quickly. Evalyn would smile at Kelly's big picture on the wall and I just know Kel was so happy we were there. Ev was spoiled by Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Phil all weekend long! Needless to say she is pretty bored at home here with just me today. While in Sugar Land we went on a run in Oyster Creek Park, ate at Pappasitos, had a BBQ at the Suters, enjoyed one session of Conference, and saw old but best friends. Thank you everyone for such a fun weekend!! We hope to go back very soon :)
Her toy setup. LOVED them all!
