The Caterpillar Injury

This is a new one....when I picked up Gavin at Nana and Papa's this afternoon, Gavin had a sory for me. I should preface this by saying that Gavin and caterpillar have been inseparable for months. He sleeps with him at night and even brings him to school to sleep with at nap time.

Today at school, Ben in his class BIT OFF the pom pom on the antenna. They told Nana that he was very upset. He didn't even want to brng it home with him. The teachers promised that tomorrow, the pom pom will be sewed back on and he can be the leader in the line to PMK.

On the way home, he would not even hold him. He also won't sleep with him tonight. So sad! Poor caterpillar. I tried to tell him that it was just a bo bo but he did not go for it.

Maddox Goes To School In New Orleans!

So, Gavin and I kept wondering where Maddox was going to be enrolled in school in New Orleans. It is such the buzz around town. We just had a hard time believing that he would be enrolled in just any school - we were right. He is enrolled at Ecole Bilingue Independent French Immersion School. I've never even heard of it! However, this picture proves it. No, I did not take it myself - it's all OVER the web.

We haven't spotted them here yet but I am on the look-out!!! I hear that they are out all the time. I'll keep everyone posted :)

It's Carnival Time

Gavin II made this mask at school today. We think it is wonderfully creative!! He did such a great job painting. He has such a great use of purple and green. The gold that he used in the middle actually looks like a fleur de lis (up close)!

The project is really pretty creative. It's half of a paper plate and it stays on his head with purple, sparkly pipe cleaners. It is completed with gold glitter! So cute! He is really excited about carnival time. His teachers have been telling them a lot about Mardi Gras.

A New Addition

Yesterday, January 23, 2007, my cousin, Danny and his wife Cindy had their second little girl. Her name is Marissa (I am not sure if that spelling is correct). She is BEAUTIFUL - just perfect! Danielle is now a big sister and, from what Danny and Cindy say, could not be happier!

Cindy delivered at Ochsner which is always nice for me! I got to visit at lunch today and take my blog picture for the family. Enjoy!

Congratulations Taix Family!

6th Anniversary

We tried to get a picture of the cathedral but it was dark! You get the idea. We just LOVE that we got married here!
The beautiful roses that my wonderful husband gave me

Gavin listening to the CD Pappy made him with his personal ear phones. No, he's not spoiled at all....

The dinner at Dickie Brennan's! Delicious! My kind of place!! It's pricey but you can get a regular steak and they have normal sides - mashed potatoes, baked potato, broccoli, etc. They have fancy schmancy food but they also have the plain Jane food that I like!

Saturday was Gavin and I's 6th wedding anniversary. It is so hard to believe that it has been 6 years since our wedding! We relived our wedding memories last night. We had such a wonderful night back on January 20, 2001. We had a really nice night. We laid around for the first part of the day - which was nice. Then, Gavin II went over to Juju and Pappy's at around 3:30pm. We then caught the matinee of "Pursuit of Happyness" which was a fantastic movie!

After the movie, we headed downtown for our reservations at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. It was DELICIOUS!

Dinner In Bed Tonight

Last night at midnight, Gavin II woke up saying that he "had color in his eyes". I had absolutely NO idea what he was talking about but it scared the heck out of me! He was crying and telling me to get the color out of his eyes. He was also pointing to where he could see the color. I then discovered that he had 101.4 fever. He eventually fell back asleep but could not go to school today. He stayed with Nana and Papa all day and was loved on!

Tonight, we were on our way home and he was already asking about going night night. So, we promised him that he could eat his tater tots in bed tonight. Oh yeah, he's milking it for all it's worth!! He doesn't even have fever anymore!! Oh well - a little TLC never hurt anyone! :)

A Nice Day Off

We paid $14.00 admission for us so that, for 1/2 an hour, Gavin could play with the same Thomas trains that we have at home! Love it!!

; Daddy enjoying himself...and catching a nap :)

Maybe a future Sav-A-Center cashier? Uh no....

Gavin II may have a future in TV news - taking after his Uncle Scott. He refused to wear the little coat that they had - I didn't blame him - you never know who those coats have been on!!

Since Gavin and Gavin II had the day off today, I took a vacation day. It was a nice day until 5pm when it got rainy and nasty! Gavin had to go to the dentist for 9am and I had a meeting at Ochsner at 12pm. After that, we ate lunch and then took Gavin II to the Children's Museum. When you go to a birthday party there, you are given a free child's admission to come back. I wanted to use it before I forgot that I had it. Gavin II had a great time - but that is nothing new!!

Caroline's Party

Sunday we took Gavin II to his friend Caroline's 5th birthday party. It was really cute. It was Ivanov's Gymnastics in Metairie. They ran around and then played a spirited game of Duck, Duck Goose. Gavin got "goosed" and then just stared at the girl - I realized that he had no idea how to play!! He caught on quickly! Kids were running the wrong way, only touching certain kids' heads, etc. It was amusing to watch!

Playoff Game

Daddy went to the playoff game with my little brother, Shaun. Gavin II and I went over to Juju and Pappy's and spent the evening with them. The game was a good one and Gavin II got into the game along with my parents. It was funny. My mom would say "Oh, I can't look" and GavinII would bury his head and say "I can't look either, Juju!" Obvious by the picture, the excitement of the game wore off around 11pm. Gavin and Shaun did not make it to their car until an hour after the game ended! We finally made it home around midnight. All in all, it was a relaxing evening.

Jack was at my mom and dad's house, too. Scott and Jennifer went to the game, too. The evening with both Jack and Gavin II made me realize that I am not ready for #2 yet! My mom and I were trying to fix and feed them both dinner and it was crazy! I did not have a chance to even take any pictures while Jack was awake! My mom did the preparing of the food and I pretty much had to keep Jack from walking around destroying things and Gavin II from falling out of his chair. Jack just ATE the whole night. Every two seconds, he was bringing me a container with either goldfish, nilla wafers or cheerios to me from his diaper bag. He is SO funny. Every time he would see food for him, he would dance and make hunger noises before he ate it.

Snazzy Pappy!

My dad (Pappy) was on his way downtown when we picked up Gavin II tonight. He is the emcee at the Astor Crowne Plaza for a carnival ball. He looked so nice!!! He even had the snazzy Mardi Gras vest and tie.

You know, those balls tend to go for quite a while and late into the evening. I am just not sure how Pappy is going to stay up that late!!

Gavin II doesn't look like he's too sure of what to make of Pappy's fancy attire!

Check out Webster in the bottom left corner. yes, for all of you who remember him, he's still alive! We got Web in 1994. He's really old, arthritis-ridden, and crabby but he's still kickin'!!

Fever - At My Age??

Monday and Tuesday I had splitting headaches after work each night. Then Wednesday, I got a runny/stuffy nose, so I figured that my sinuses were clearing because my headaches went away. At work, I went to employee health and the NP said it's probably not the flu because your fever is only 99.0 - it would be much higher - it's probably a viral illness that is going around. So, I left feeling ok. By 2pm, I ahd 101.8 fever!! I cannot remember the last time I had fever! I kept swearing that it was just a virus - I refused to label it as the flu - no, I did not get a flu shot. The MD that I work for said "yeah, good luck with that - you have the flu".

I went home and went directly to bed and felt HORRIBLE. I had an ok night's sleep after I woke up around 8pm covered in sweat - my fever had broken :) After the headache went away around 2am, I was finally able to really sleep.

I stayed home from work today. I also don' remember the last time I had an empty house all to myself for 9 or 10 hours. I think I've gotten out of bed 3 times!

PS - last night, Gavin II asked why I was sick. When I told him that I thought I had the flu, his voice immediately changed into this sickly voice and he started working around the house saying "I think I have the flu, too". Such a drama king! I told him he was not sick and he said "yes, I am, I think I feel like I have a little cold..."

Classes Have Begun!

My 2 classes started today. Oh my lord! I have not had to discipline myself for studying, reading and tests in a very long time - 6 years to be exact!! I am usually in bed for 8:30pm. Tonight, my first night, I am up until 10:15 already. I am exhausted!! Only 2.5 more years :)

The New Car Seat - Not So Much!

On our Sunday trip to Wal-Mart, Gavin decided that we should try out a new booster seat for Gavin II being that he meets the height and weight requirements. Gavin II was apprehensive from the beginning - it was like he was stressed out about the prospect of the new seat while we were still in the store. He kept saying that he did not want it. Well, we tried it anyway. In the paking lot, Gavin put it in and Gavin II rode in it on the way home from the store. You can see the reaction that we got!

A Daddy Clone

Gavin came and told me that he was putting the pen behind his ear "like daddy". Apparently this is common because my mom says that he does that at her house all the time. How sweet....he wants to be just like his daddy. I hope he turns out just like him :)

Dino of the Week Book

Daddy was thrilled about this one!

Gavin brought home his Dino of the Week book from school. The pages say "Gavin is special because...." and then the teachers wrote in what each child said about Gavin. It is so sweet...and funny. I included some pics of some of the funnier pages.
Just as a side note, I read Gavin each entry and he said "But Abigail said that she doesn't want me to marry her. I don't know who I'm going to marry when I grow up!" I asked him what getting married meant and he said "it's when you love each other - I don't know!" Good answer, though. I was impressed!

Psycho Ducks and New Year's Day!

We started working around 8am this morning and did not stop until around 3:30 this afternoon. Gavin took down and put away all the Christmas decorations while I did all the laundry and spent the other 75% of the day cooking and doing dishes. Gavin also took down the Christmas tree. The tree stopped sucking up water about a week ago and was pretty dead. If you touched a branch, every needle would fall off. By the time Gavin got it outside and took the lights off, the tree was bare - no lie!

Gavin stopped over at his parent's house to pick up some cabbage (Yick - I hate that stuff! It smells soooo bad!) My dad eats it every year, too! YUCK! Then, since we are returning to work tomorrow, we made our usual Sunday (on Monday) trip to Wal-Mart. But, before that, we stopped at the Kenner City Park to feed the ducks our old bread. They must not get fed often because the ducks and seagulls were crazy! They were coming after Gavin II quicker than his little hands could break and throw the bread. The seagulls were attacking each other and shrieking over the bread. It was fun, though, and Gavin II had a great time - he always does.

Happy New Year!

This picture of Gavin II pretty much sums up our New Year's Eve! We were all exhausted and decided to stay at home. We were also short a babysitter which presented a problem! We left the house around 6 and went over to Gavin's parent's house and this was Gavin II literally about 2 minutes after we left the house. Love the drool!

Happy New Year! 2007 is going to be a great year!
