Halloween Night 2007

Daddy dressed up for work and Gavin for school. This is as they were about to leave this morning. This is what I came home to this morning! How cute are they?!
Daddy's whole team dressed up for work as 60's people
The 2007 Jack-O-Lantern
Inflatable Mickey
The Goods!! :)

I worked last night 7p-7a but I had today and tonight off so I was able to spend the evening with family - just how I like it! Gavin II was precious. Juju and Pappy and Nana and Papa came over with the dogs, Dylan and Lulu (the name changed from Lilly). It was great! We all sat outside and handed out candy. Gavin II went trick-or-treating and got lots if good stuff. After about 10 houses, he said "I think I have enough candy". You can tell that is a comment from a child that has a limited amount of "safe" candy. It was a fun night - the grandparents always make it special by sharing the night with us - Thanks!!

Welcome Lilly!

Nana and Papa went to Covington this evening to buy a dog. She is a poodle and she is 3 years old. Her name is Lilly. Gavin II had a great time running around with her and "walking her" with the leash on in the house. She is very cute!!! Congrats to Nana and Papa on the new addition to the family! I am sure that Dylan and Lilly will get along great on Halloween night when they meet :) Welcome to the family, Lilly!

Pumpkin Patch

On Sunday, we went with Juju and Pappy to the St. Augustine pumpkin patch. It is at a small church near my parents' house and we go every year. We picked out a great pumpkin thanks to Gavin II. He is very particular about picking out just the right one! Juju and Pappy got a pretty nice pumpkin as well :) It's a fun tradition that was always very important on our house growing up! We also used to draw pictures of what we thought the jack-o-lantern should look like and my dad would pick the winner. Scott usually won. Good times.

2007 Boo at the Zoo

Bowling
Ring Toss
Bobby Jindal (our new Governor) with Ron Foreman (president of the Audubon Institute) made an appearance at Boo at the Zoo. Bobby Jindal's son had a Louisiana State Police uniform on. I wonder how he got that?!
It took 20 minutes from start to finish for Gavin II to get down this slide one time
Checking out the fire truck
Checking out the ambulance
Just being Gavin
Pumpkin toss game

After we rested up from the Family Fete, we all went to Boo at the Zoo at Audubon Zoo. It is always so cute. Again, it was gorgeous weather and it was great to be outside. Gavin II refused to wear a costume, though. Last year, we went on the ghost train ride and it scared Gavin II so much that we could no get him to go on it this year - even in the daylight. Instead, we played games and waited about 20 minutes for Gavin II to slide down the big inflatable slide ONE time. It was fun!

2007 Edisen House Family Fete

Saturday morning, Edisen House held their annual Family Fete on the lower school playground. It was a beautiful day! He had so much fun running around with all of his friends. He took a good nap Saturday afternoon :)

The magician

Gavin, Betsy (his main squeeze), Blythe (the party was at her grandparents' house), an another girl that I do not know yet
The girls! Notice Gavin got pushed out of the picture when more girls got in the picture. I thik Bat Girl (Blythe) is going to be a model one day! She has "the look"!
Gavin, Caroline, and Paige
(Caroline - the middle - is one of the girls that Gavin told me that he was "in love with") Enjoying chocolate cupcakes
They were a hit!! It was the first time he enjoyed cupcakes with his class! The kids LOVED them! He kept telling kids - "You can have one of my cupcakes!" He was so excited!

The Gators performing their songs

The crazy beautiful house where the party was held

Hartson and Paige
Gavin and Grayson

This morning, I went to Gavin's Halloween party. It was at the grandparents' house of one of Gavin's classmates about 2 blocks from school. The house was unbelievable! It had a cabana and a guest house - two separate buildings from the house. It was beautiful! Gavin and his class sang several Halloween songs and they each did their joke and it was precious. I have to say - I had to fight back tears when he started to sing with his class. I just had a realization of how big he is getting at that moment. I love that boy so much! He is such a joy and a blessing in ourlives and I could not ask for anything more in a son.

Halloween Is Here!!!

Tomorrow is Gavin II's Halloween party for school. I volunteered to make cupcakes that are "safe" for Gavin. They really are good. I have eaten the chocolate cake mix before and it is yummy! The frosting is regular frosting. Anyway, he will be excited to eat the same thing as the other kids. Skittles and Starburst are ok for him to eat, too - we discovered this right in time for Halloween :) It should be fun! I am looking forward to it! I am off so I get to go and watch him sing and tell a Halloween joke for the parents.
His assigned joke is:
"Why do Vampires need mouth wash?" - Because they have "bat" breath!!

USM Homecoming 2007

Tailgating
Too cute!
Dave and Joseph
maxin' and relaxin'
The game!
Sigma Chi's float
Not much has changed about the house
The new Pi Phi mansion in sorority village
Sam Burke's baby boy, Sam
Football makes me tired!

Homecoming was a lot of fun - we all had a fantastic weekend! We got up there around noon on Saturday and had a nice lunch with our newly-engaged friends, Lori and Frady, at O'Charley's. After that, we walked around campus, went to the bookstore, admired all the new construction, and became increasingly jealous that we never got to enjoy such a WONDERFUL campus. Well, at least Gavin II will get to enjoy it! We were on campus from 2pm until game time @ 6:30pm. We ran into just about every person we know - literally - I think everybody went back for homecoming this year. We saw lots of the bloggers there, too :)

The game was GREAT! Gavin II was SO into the whole thing. We sat with Dave, Megan, Lori, and Frady. He was yelling all the catch phrases - "Southern Miss To The Top!", "Go Eagles" (during the cheer), and "Go Southern Miss!!". It was so cute!

After a Cracker Barrel breakfast this morning, we headed home. We always love our weekend getways to Hattiesburg - especially when we have such beautiful weather!

PS - for all of you Pi Phis out there, I was a little taken back by the Pi Phi homecoming float. The slogan this year is "Good as Gold". Well, many of the floats had things like lucky charms, Seymour, etc. Well, the Phi Phi float had a pirate ship on it and the float read "Pi Phi - Bringing Booty to USM since 1961". Yeah, you read that right. Are you as disappointed as I am? Who approved that slogan??!!

Yesterday, Gavin and I had to attend a conference for Gavin. It was a conference about his progress, etc. He got all positive feedback. He's doing great! After the conference, we all went to the book store and got Gavin a few Country Day clothing items. He did end up with this hat but in blue. He also came away with the sweatshirt pictured and a long sleeved shirt. He loves Country Day!

11 Years Together!

Gavin and I celebrate 2 anniversaries each year. October 11th was our 11 year anniversary - we started dating in 10/11/1996 - my freshman year at USM. My wonderful, thoughtful husband surprised me with these beautiful roses when I got home from work.
