This is my son at 32 weeks, 4 days pregnant- this is typically him all times of the day but he is usually VERY active at night. This was around 9:00 pm last night - he had been active for about 20 minutes so I decided to get out the video and tape it! Amazing, huh? It gives me butterflies when he moves THIS much!

Doctor Appointment
I had my "32 week" doctor's appointment today. I have started seeing my doctor around every 2 weeks now which proves that Walker will be here soon :) The biggest reminder is that stores are putting up Mardi Gras decorations - that is a sure fire sign that he's coming soon. Everything is great with the Walker Thomas and me. His heart beat was 140, my blood pressure is great at 102/70 and I gained about 8 pounds in 2 weeks. So, I go back January 14th and that is when I am sure that I will sign myself up for the c-section! Not long now - 53 days to go and counting!! So exciting!

Christmas Morning
Sorry these are a little late! We had a fantastic Christmas morning. Christmas Eve was such a long day, though, that we HAD to wake Gavin II up at 7 am so that he would have a little time to play with his toys before we went to Lacombe for the day to my aunt's house. Gavin II got SO much!! We went to Juju's around 9:30 am and exchanged gifts with my parents, Shaun, Scott, Jenn, and Jack. We got home Christmas night around 6:30 pm and we all slept VERY well!

Christmas Eve
This is the ONLY picture that I have from Christmas Eve. My intentions were good but I just forgot to take out the camera for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! Jennifer took this one of me and my two brothers. I know, you would never know that the 3 of us are related, right?! A lot of people, though, tell me that Gavin II looks like Scott or Shaun when they were little.
Christmas Eve was so nice. We went to 4 pm mass with Nana, Juju, Scott, Jenn, Jack, and Shaun. Gavin and Jack were less than thrilled with the hour and a half mass but they did very well overall. After mass, we went to Nana and PaPa's for their annual Christmas Eve party. Around 7 pm, I took Gavin II and we went to visit my 92 year old Aunt for a little while. After that, we went back to Nana and PaPa's to open a WHOLE lotta presents. After presents, we packed up and went to Juju and Pappy's at 10:30 pm for the annual reading of "The Night Before Christmas" by Pappy. It was a great night but we were exhausted!!!

Walker Thomas at 30 Weeks, 6 Days
.jpg)
In this shot, she caught him yawning - it makes me laugh every time I look at it!.jpg)
I had my 30 week ultrasound on Friday - I was 30 weeks, 6 days - so almost 31 weeks. They keep making me have ultrasounds because of my previous thyroid issues - they want to ensure the he is grwoing properly. Walker is doing just fine but is definitely a Langston male! He is measuring at 31 weeks - great! His head, though, is measuring about 2-3 weeks bigger than the rest of him. Of course, his daddy and big brother also have a history of a larger head :) I think I am opting for the c-section now!! Walker weighed in at 3 pounds, 12 ounces and is doing great! He is head down - yay!! So, about 8 weeks to go and we are so excited!!! I have to go have another growth ultrasound at almost 36 weeks and that should be my last.
New Orleans Bowl
Despite the REALLY cold weather last night, we attended the New Orleans Bowl - USM versus Troy. It was us and Uncle Shaun. It was fun but I cannot stay out that late - I was falling asleep!!! We saw a lot of old friends - it was nice! We left around 10:30 pm. USM eventually won in overtime - GO EAGLES!!!
French Quarter Saturday
We took Gavin to the French Quarter saturday and he loved it! After our stay at the Ritz last weekend, we decided that he would love it down there. He is studying Louisiana history right now and he is learning about the Cathedral, etc. So, we visited Jackson Square, the Cathedral, the French Market, the Jax Brewery, and we took him to see the Rodrigue Gallery (Blue Dog) and the Jack Gallery - it features the Peanuts painted by Tom Everhart - very cool gallery if you ever have the chance to go. We REALLY ultimately want to purchase a Tom Everhart Lithograph but they run a few thousand dollars. So, we compromised and bought a framed poster for Gavin's room. He really loves art and Charlie Brown and Snoopy! He truly enjoys going to see paintings in galleries. The poster looks great in his room!
Cousins United
Scott, Jenn, and Jack stopped at my parent's house Friday on their way to Labadieville to see Jenn's family. We were able to visit with them for about half an hour. It was like Gavin and Jack had never been apart. They are so cute together and they just adore each other. Gavin stood at the door at my parent's house looking out the glass door saying "When is Jack gonna get here?" The Walkers will spend Monday - Friday at my parent's house so they will get plenty of time to play together.
The Holiday Concert
A Country Day tradition is the lower school holiday concert. The singing was so pretty and the kids just seem to love it. Gavin II could not wait - he had been practicing his songs for DAYS on end. In fact, he would not stop singing Christmas songs! My picture of the actual concert did not come out well but here are some pictures of my handsome man before the concert! We bought him this suit for the concert and Christmas but they were not allowed to wear jackets or ties - he just HAD to put the whole ensemble on for effect! How cute is he?!
Hanukkah Party
Gavin had his "Hanukkah Party" at school on Thursday. He really wanted me to come and be there for the party - so I went, of course! However, I think I should have volunteered to help make the gingerbread houses earlier in the week - all the moms who volunteered for the Hanukkah party were, of course, Jewish. It was really cute, though, and I enjoyed being there so much. I helped the kids do their Hanukkah activity packs, we played the dreidel game, and then they made menorahs from graham crackers, icing, tootsie rolls, and mini kisses. Gavin was so proud!

The Cookie
Gavin II has been making a gingerbread house at school. Well, today, they must have used the leftover candies and allowed them to decorate gingerbread cookies with icing and candy. He could not eat his but his teacher suggested that he bring it home to us. He had it decorated with spice drops, marshmellows, kisses, m&m's and sprinkles. Well, Daddy went out of town and got back tonight so he decided that it would be a nice "welcome home" gift for him! Talk about a sugar rush! Daddy loved it!
Langston Family Christmas Tree 2008
We have had our Christmas tree since the Sunday after Thanksgiving and I am just now posting this picture. It's a great tree! I swear, I blogged better when I had a million things going on. Now that I am practically a stay-at-home mom, I am a slacker!
Late Birthday Post
Saturday night, Gavin and I had a date night. Gavin slept at my parents' house. We went to see "Four Christmases" which was really funny - we love Vince Vaughn! After the movie, we ate at Superior Grill (again - I told you it was one of my favorites) and then we stayed at the Ritz-Carlton downtown for the night. We checked in around 9 pm and we pretty much fell asleep as soon as we laid down - it was the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in! We had a great night's sleep! The next morning, we had breakfast at Cafe Du Monde downtown and then came home. Gavin and I both said we do not know when we will have another chance to get away like that again for a while once Walker arrives :)
The roses are from daddy and Gavin II for my birthday! Gavin also made me a delicious cake that he and I have pretty much taken down all by ourselves :)

Snow Day!
When I left to bring Gavin to school this morning, it was just raining. When we got to Country Day, I walked Gavin in and saw all of these kids charging outside - it was sleeting with some snow flurries and the kids were freaking out! They had their tongues out trying to catch snow. Then, the real snowfall started! It is crazy how much snow there is on the ground right now. It's about 34 degrees and it's absolutely beautiful! I wish little Gavin was here to share it with! He is actually on a field trip to the French Quarter this morning. Anyway, it's a beautiful snow day and we are enjoying every minute!

Happy Birthday To Me!

So, I am finally 30 years old! Today was my birthday and it was a pretty low-key day. Gavin took little Gavin to school and I slept in. I even had Rice Krispy treats for breakfast (it's my birthday - I can eat what I want!). The day was really rainy and nasty so I did not do much. We are staying at the Ritz-Carlton for a night this weekend so that will be my real treat!!
I got lots of wonderful gifts! My wonderful husband even came home at lunch time to bring me a dozen roses which are gorgeous!!! Then, tonight, we went to dinner at Superior Grill (my favorite) with Gavin, Gavin II, my mom, dad, brother (Shaun), and Chrishelle. Gavin's dad had a cardiac exam tomorrow and had to fast for 14 hours prior so they could not make it :( It was a very nice dinner and I really enjoyed it! The food was delicious as usual and Walker and I were so full when we left! Thanks to my fam and Chrishelle for making it on such a yucky night. She had to eat mexican food and then drive across the Causeway bridge - I would have fallen asleep!
Thanks to everyone who called to wish me a Happy Birthday. You all mean the world to me and I love you all!

Graduation!
Saturday afternoon was my graduation! It was a great day! I got wear one of the colored hoods which was pretty cool. The ceremony was very nice and it was great having both families there to support me. My mom tells me that Gavin II told her a bunch of times - "I'm so proud of mommy". That makes it all worthwhile! I am pretty proud of myself as well. So, to clarify, I have my Master of Science in Nursing degree and once I take my boards and pass, I will be a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - APRN). As for now, I am still interviewing for jobs and waiting to apply to take my boards and get my temporary APRN permit.
Bellingrath Gardens
We got to Mobile Friday afternoon and Gavin's parents were already there. So, we went to Bellingrath Gardens around 5:30 pm on Friday - right at sundown. Gavin's parents had been before at Christmas and told us how beautiful it was there - they were right. It was a lot like Celebration in the Oaks here in N.O. but a bit nicer. It was pretty chilly but not unbearable - around 50 degrees. It felt so much like Christmas! We loved it! We had to walk slow because I did not want to temp Walker with any more contractions!

1st Hospital Stay
.jpg)

Last night was a bit scary...I'll make the story concise....
I am 28 weeks, 3 days. I started noticing that I was having Braxton-Hicks contractions a lot around 5:00 pm yesterday evening. I looked up online that more than 4 per hour was not good - I was having plenty more than 4 per hour. I decided to try the water drinking and lying down - the Labor and Delivery Dept. agreed. Well, the contractions got way more intense, I was having pressure, and then the contractions and discomfort started going into my back so Gavin and I headed to L&D to get checked to be on the safe side. We had all intentions of coming home last night.
I get to L&D - my BP is 120/91 (nerves). They start an IV, get fluids going, and get Walker and I hooked up to the monitor. He is doing fantastic - heart beat is strong. They determine that I am having "real" contractions and I was having them every few minutes although still irregular. Then, they decide to check for any "down below" infections that may be causing the contractions - everything comes back negative. They also did a test that is supposed to be an indicator or preterm labor. Basically, if it is negative, it is very accurate that you will not go into labor in the next 2 weeks. If it is positive, they are not sure what it means - it does not necessarily mean that I will go into preterm labor - it's a better predictor if it is negative. Mine comes back POSITIVE! BY the way, I am also a tight fingertip dilated. YIKES!
After all is said and done, they were going to discharge me but they decide to admit me for observation overnight. Around 1:30 am, I have contractions every 3 minutes for a period of 30 minutes - then they calmed down. I had a few throughout the night but much less and NOT as intense. They gave me IV fluids all night.
My doctor came in this morning and decided to do an ultrasound to check to see if my cervix was shortening (preparing for labor). He was not concerned that I was dilated since this is my second baby. They wanted it to still be long. So, at 11:30 am, I had the ultrasound and they determine that my cervix is not shortening and that I am still only a tight fingertip dilated - the contractions had not caused me to dilate any further overnight. I felt so much better this morning, though. So, I am discharged with instructions to take it easy - I intend to do just that. Walker needs 11 more weeks to cook!
I did come out of it with the above pictures of Walker which are SO cute!!! They also told me that he is already 3 pounds, 1 ounce and that is the 64th percentile for weight! They actually said that I have a "fat baby". I am excited that he may be a bigger baby!
