Kenny

So I wanted to post really quickly that we went to the Kenny Rogers concert on Saturday night. It was not too bad. And I wasn't the youngest one there!! I saw a 10 year old and a few babies there too. LOL. It was quite different than all the other concerts I've been to. First of all the average age was at least 60. He had no opening acts or anything, it was just him. He sang about 10 of his "hits" of which I recognized about 8 of them but only knew the words to the chorus of 4 and I knew all the words to "The Gambler". So it was a bit quiet where we sat. LOL. And the show was pretty quiet. I didn't wear ear plugs at all. And he was FUNNY!! He was cracking jokes about the audience and it was just great. If he hadn't been so funny the concert would have been a bore. So, after he sang his "greatest hits" he went and changed his clothes into something more formal and sang about 10 Christmas songs. They were all good. He pulled 12 people out of the audience and he had them sing the 12 Days of Christmas. It was hilarious!!! We were laughing so hard. It was a nice stress reliever. (Although I kept thinking, this guy hates mormons?") It was a lot of fun and I'm glad I went. Would I go again? No. But it was a good show.

Now tonight is the show we've all been waiting for. Yes, that's right. Tonight is Carrie Underwood and I'm so excited!! And I've also received word that this summer at the Calgary Stampede we're having Kenny Chesney, George Strait, AND Taylor Swift. I'm so excited! I would like to go to all of them, but we've seen George Strait and Mike doesn't want to see him again (I DO!), and Mike says Kenny Chesney's tickets are too expensive (after all, he has been voted entertainer of the year 4 times so he can charge the arm and a leg to have a show). And we have seen Taylor Swift when we saw Brad Paisley, but I LOVE her music and so I really want to go. I told Mike we need to go and see George, stay the night in Calgary and then spend the day at the stampede and then see Taylor Swift and then we can drive home. And he said to me "And who's going to watch the kids?" At this point I'm thinking "Hmmm, the stampede is in the second and third week of July. By then we'll be less than a month from our 10 year anniversary. And in these 10 years, besides the first year and a half of being childless, we have NEVER gone away together without the kids. EVER. And in that first year and a half, we were so dirt poor that we couldn't afford to go anywhere and we were managing a house in Rexburg and we couldn't even take off to do some camping. So I'm thinking that it's time for his family to step up and watch the kids for two days and a night so that we can have a little alone time. Sheesh. (At this point I will not mention that we're hoping to go to England and Ireland for 2-3 weeks at the end of July beginning of August. We're hoping to fly mom up - or you can drive mom - and going on our first vacation together without the kids. But this adventure of ours depends upon THE TEST. If we pass, we go. If we don't...we don't. BTW, we find out about the test in less than 2 weeks. I get butterflies when I even think of it. Dec. 5th.) Ok, so I'm done blabbing. But I do promise to bring a camera to Carrie. I totally forgot for Kenny Rogers, but I swear I was there. LOL. Anyway, I'm going crazy trying to get ready for UT!! Yay 2 more days! So I'll ttyl, L

Twilight

Last night I went to the premier of Twilight. And I won't say anything that "ruins" the movie, although if you haven't read the book I must say that I'm ashamed to know you. LOL. Just kidding, but seriously if you haven't read the books don't watch the movie first. Anyway, so I showed up at the theater last night at 8:15ish. The movie didn't start until 10 so I figured I had lots of time. As I was talking to the ticket guy he said that the theater had been open since 6 and was already quite full. He wasn't joking. The theater was full of 14 year old girls. I have never felt so old in my entire life. LOL. They were everywhere and after we passed the hour mark until the movie started they'd get up and scream about every 10 minutes "50 minutes! WOOOOOOO!" "30 Minutes!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH" They even did a count down with seconds and everything and they were way off on that. It was kind of annoying. So from the pre-show this girls were giving everyone I thought I was in for a LOOONNNNGGG movie filled with gushing and screaming every time Edward appeared on screen. But thankfully the movie was good and fast paced so besides the initial starting of the movie and the very end the theater was pretty much quiet. Oh except for the part that Edward and Bella kissed. The girls got all tittery again and I turned to my friend and we rolled our eyes. I mean, Puh-Lease! Half the girls in there thought that they were Bella and that Edward was their one true love. Poor girls. Stephanie Meyer really ruined real life for these young girls. LOL. Oh, and speaking of Stephanie Meyer, watch carefully for her in the movie! You'll see her in the diner at one point!! Anyway, the movie was good. Edward really grew on me and I didn't mind him so much at the end. The book, as always, was WAY better just because it gave a lot more deets than was able to be portrayed in the movie, but the movie was done well. The ballet studio scene (more than what you can see in the previews) was excellent. I didn't picture Bella the way they had her and it was eye opening. It now makes me want to read the book all over again. They are making the rest of the series and I'd wish they'd hurry up! And speaking of hurrying up, they had the trailer for Harry Potter and I must say it looked a bit spooky. LOL. That's another one that I can't wait until they're all done!! Ok, well, that's all I'm going to say. I enjoyed the movie, more than I thought I would. I wasn't too disappointed with it and I would go and see the rest of them, although I'm totally dreading book 2 since it was my least fav. Hopefully the movie will be just as tastefully done as the first one. So if you go see Twilight, let me know what you think!!!! Oh, and may I just say that Jasper killed me. He was so funny!!! LOL.

gReAT DaY!

Today is just a fantabulous day!! And there is no real reason why that is so. After the past two weeks to be able to spend most of the afternoon at home is a treat. So I will be doing laundry and cleaning the kitchen and just puttering around the house and it's so nice. The week is shaping up nicely. Show Choir is still a bit of a gong show, but it will be that way for a few more days. But it's ok because it's now out of my hands (and feet and body) and into theirs. So I now going to list why this is such a great week:
1. Show Choir only takes up my time from 4-7 every night instead of any spare second of the day.
2. I have tickets to see Twilight on Thursday and I'm going with a friend and we're so excited. The show starts at 10 p.m. and I'm thrilled.
3. We're having Mike's work party this week so Saturday we're going out for dinner and going to see Kenny Rogers. And I have our sitter all lined up.
4. Sunday is tithing settlement and for the first time the kids all have tithing. So it's a good teaching/fhe moment
5. Monday is the Carrie Underwood concert, SO excited. And yup, have the sitter that night too.
6. We're going to the Show Choir performance. So excited for this too. It's fun to see it all come together.
7. We leave for UT Wednesday morning for a weekend full of family, fun, food and shopping. What, tell me WHAT could be better than that?
So as the days pass I get more and more excited. So it's a good week!! Yay!! Let the festivities begin!!

Doin' the Do

The before:

The after:
(front - duh)
and I look skinnier in the other pic for some reason, but I promise I've even lost a few pounds since then. LOL. And this pic was taken 6 hours after the original cut and style. And after 3 hours of dancing for show choir. But I LOVE IT!
The Back:

Happy Birthday....to ME!

Yup, today is the day. The big 2-9! (So next week, after show choir is over and I have a bit more time on my hands I will change the annoying blog layout. LOL. It was fun while it lasted.) Anyway, I haven't had any time to post anything because I've been SO SO SO busy this past week. But since today is the big bday day I thought I'd take a few minutes and catch up with everyone's blogs and let you know what I'm going to be up to on my day.

11 a.m. - head into town, pick up some ready made icing and maybe stop at the blanket lady's house to pick up some blankets to crochet.
11:30 - pick up Ky from Kindergarten - rush home
11:45 - meet babysitter, give instructions, head back to town
11:55 - Meals on Wheels
12:20 - back to the school to do some refreshing on "Shepard's Joy" that I will be team teaching later today for Show Choir.
1p.m. - get my hair done (and this is going to be the highlight (pun intended) of the day. I haven't had my hair done for so long. So maybe I'll get ambitious and post pics tomorrow ... if I have time.
3:30 - pray that hair is done because I have to go back into town for Show Choir practise
4 - start Show Choir. Will be on the podium all day teaching 3 dances
7 - show choir ends, but will then be practising for tomorrow!!
8-9ish - get home read all emails and hopefully have a piece of bday pie.
10ish - die peacefully in my bed while dreaming of dancing reindeer
7a.m. (tomorrow) - start it all again.
LOL
so that is my day today. I'm going to clean a bit this morning so my sitter can just be with the kids and not worry about things and run through my dances that we're doing tonight a few times and get ready to G-O-! The day has already started good with some good chocolate from the kids and a new Precious Moments Nativity (I collect Nativities). I'm supposed to be getting a new digital camera for my birthday, but I told Mike that I can wait for Thanksgiving sales to pick something out. (willing to listen to suggestions for a small, yet savvy camera). A friend of mine has the same bday as me and she knocked on my door at 7:30 with warm raspberry muffins. So it was perfect!!!

Another Birthday of sorts

So yesterday was my 2 year birthday of being on blogger. Yay! I've come a long way baby! THIS was my first post and even though I've changed the name, and the purpose it's still me and I'm still enjoying blogging as much as ever. This is my 262nd post on this blog and between both blogs I've got a whopping 418 posts. I had a measly 26 posts in 2006 (but I started in November, so that's ok), 109 posts in 2007, and 112 posts in 2008 (with 8 weeks or so to go until 2009). So it seems that I have more to say with each passing year. LOL. Thanks to all who have been here with me every step of the way! And thanks to those who are new! Anyway, I've enjoyed the journey and hope that there are a lot more posts to come!!

Friday Night

Well, it's a Friday night and I'm sitting here at the computer. Snore. But I've been SO busy lately that this is the perfect way to spend the night. I've been feeling like I haven't been posting quite as much. I've been up to my eyeballs in Show Choir and the fun has just begun. Starting next week I will be doing choreography every day from 4 until 7. So that will just add to the fun. But funny enough, today has been my "slowest" day all week and I have found that today I have been on edge about EVERYTHING. Ky has been driving me up the wall. She has a tendency to act without thinking first and I've just had it. She doesn't think things through and it just irritates me to no end. So today I found myself biting my tongue over and over and over, until I just about bit it off. Then I just couldn't hold it in any longer so the evening has ended on a downer because I hate it when I'm like this. My kids shouldn't have to suffer because I'm stressed out. But I'm working through it, so hopefully it will eventually get better. I've told myself that I'm not allowed to yell at the show choir kids and I'm hoping I can control myself. LOL. Can you tell I have yelling issues? My sister thinks that I should go to anger management counseling. Mike just agreed. He thinks I have issues. Hmmmm, maybe something to look into. Cool. One more thing for me to do. :) Anyway, I'm trying to be positive. Happiness is a choice. (My sister does vinyl and I'm having her print that out for me so I can put it on my bathroom mirror to see every time I look in the mirror.) Next week is actually not as crazy as this week has been. On some days choreo from 4-7 is all I have. Which will be nice. I'm also hoping to get back on track with the diet thing and the exercising...again. It's time to get serious again. But on the weight front I've been warned that if you lose it too fast that you can get "stuck" at a certain weight. Well, I've been down 20 pounds for about 2 months now, so I think my body is ready for the next step. LOL. The gym has been a good thing, but I've decided not to rejoin in the new year. I might join the other gym, I've heard it's a lot cheaper. But it is co-ed. But I haven't noticed anyone there at 6a.m. So who the heck knows. I don't know. Now I'm tired and rambling and I doubt I make sense. So, wish me luck in the upcoming week!!! No yelling!! (I bet you I don't last a day without yelling. A "teaching" day where I"m actually up on the block teaching. LOL.) But I'm still going to try really hard. I'm going to have a game plan. Woot. :) ttyl, L

Mr. President

You know, even though I am not overly thrilled that *Barack*Obama* won as president, I must say that I am proud to live in a day and age when a black person has the opportunity to be president of the US of A. Maybe one day we will have a women president (kill me if it's Hillary Clinton. Then we'd REALLY know it was the end of the world. What better person to lead us to hell in a hand basket then her?) Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm pleased that a person of color was chosen as president. And that it's exciting to be apart of history in the making.

Birthday

So, for all those who know me, and love me, know that I have a HUGE fetish with my birthday. I count down to my birthday every year and months in advance I let my parents know what to get for me. Birthdays were always special growing up and it has carried into my adulthood even though growing older isn't NEARLY as fun as it used to be. (In fact I am secretly petrified of turning 30. So next year is going to stink.) But my birthday is this month and since Thanksgiving (for Canada) was in October I felt this was appropriate. LOL.
