Gilchrist Scout Camp

Ah! Gilchrist! Our stake aaronic priesthood scout camp. So many memories! Wonderful times!

This is JT and Carl with our ward boys at flag. They look cold!

Special devotional led by Ethan. He told a story by Elder Maxwell. And these guys sitting on the logs are reinacting the story. During the war they would all stop what they were doing and come in from wherever they were on the battlefield to have a devotional at a certain time of day. Sometimes they would wait and one of them would not come in. Clinton said it was very emotional and very special.

Stake Young Men's President, Bro. Layton
This poor little scout sliced his thumb with his knife the very first day! Bro. Merrill carved him a wooden thumb as a rememberance! If you look close that's not HIS thumb, it's the wooden one!

When the scouts loose something and it gets turned in, they have to come up and sing "Tea Pot" to get it back!

Here's my guys! JT, Stanley and Clinton

Chillin' at a table!

Everyday they did something with the "strippling warriors" (aka: priests). The first day one boy would be sitting alone and another would come and get him and the next day they would bring in another and on the last day (this picture) they had gathered everyone and gave a little devotional about finding and gathering the lost and wounded brothers. Pretty cool!
They do lots of amazing things at Gilchrist to strengthen testimonies as well as work on scout stuff!

Bensen

This is some video of Bensen nodding his head, clapping, singing, waving, etc.

Elk!!!!

This is what happens when an elk decides to cross the road right in front of you! Stanley was on his way home after dropping me off for a week long camping trip with friends (the plan was he would work during the week and would come back up Thursday night and spend the rest of the time with us and we'd come home Saturday.) and about a mile past the casino a female elk walked across the highway and changed her mind and decided to turn around and walked (do elk walk?) right in front of Stanley! So grateful for the Lord's tender mercies - it was a female, she went to the side instead of up and into the cab, it's a heavy truck and Stanley is still alive! Sure is scary though! And thank heaven our son JT has a heavy enough truck to pull our trailer so I could come home (although it was a day early). I don't think I would have minded TOO much if I got to stay longer, but I only had a week before girls camp to finish getting ready! It was so nice up in the mountains and we had a good time. We were hoping to get the truck back in time for girls camp - they said 10 days and here it is 23 days and still no truck! It's really hard to work when your truck is in the shop!

We are getting a new building in our stake! We had a huge breakfast at the groundbreaking ceremonies. Everyone who brought a shovel got it painted gold! It was a lot of fun!
Here's the cook! They did a great job!

These are his 2nd steps. Of course we didn't know he was going to do it the first time he did! Luckily he did it again, but he hasn't done it since!!!!! It's only a matter of time!!!!
