FO's and Flowers!

Time for a post! (Nobody faint..it's been a busy time here at Casa de LC.) I have for you finished objects and flowers, and a foto (had to, sorry!) of DH and myself.

My flower bed in the front of the house is now bursting with flowers! Yes, there is a bunch of grassy weedy stuff that needs to be yanked, but I'm doing that slowly. We had a nice rain yesterday, after which I got out there and planted.

In the FO department, we have my newly discovered favorite yarns. First, Cascade 220. My Dear Bud, Lynda, has spoken before about how much she likes this yarn. I didn't "get" it. I thought it felt scratchy on the shelf. Suddenly, I was gifted with a skein. I thought I'd just knit it up since it was free...and WOW! it's GOOD stuff! Lynda was right.

It became baby hats for the local NICU (my own design, thank-you-very-much!), and bedsocks for your truly! (Kinda' my own design, I love this stitch, and just "went with it".)
My other favorite yarn, and one with which I'd slipcover the entire darn world if given the chance, is Colinette Jitterbug, colorway "Lagoon'. Here it is, in all it's socky-goodness. Yum. Say it with me. "Yum."

Yep, same stitch pattern as the above bedsocks. I like it. Sue me.

And, finally, DH and me, at the final evening of Cotillion. DH is showing off his sexy arm sling. He finally had his tennis elbow surgically corrected. He's on the mend! Yay!

Ok, it's been brought to my attention that I made an oopsie. I left blogger and didn't provide my HOARDS of readers (both of them) a forwarding address!

I can now be found at:

And, because blogger is tempermental...

Knitting related: I got some really cool soy/wool yarn at Michael's! I can't believe they have such a nice yarn there now, about $4 a skein! I'm gonna wind it into cakes so it looks like LYS yarn. Ha!

Never mind the white legs, but here's my friend Melanie and I with the new little Kayak I got for my birthday. I'm having a blast paddling all over the waters. I also splurged and bought myself a kayak "safety" kit, which includes a compass. Hope it has instructions!

And this would be Sweetpea on her mare. They're having a great time. They're trail riding, western riding in the arena, and yesterday they even got to play a "jousting" game! (Ok, I was informed it's not jousting, because that would involve two people, two horses, and critical injuries. This is just running at a spinning target with a long pole on horseback. Sounds like jousting to ME, but whatever!)

Who, What, Where and When?

Who? Well, DH and I of course! (uh, my SIL took this picture, and the resolution is in the teeny-tiny area. I tried to increase the size, but then all the details were lost. So, you'll just have to use your imagination a bit!!

What?...I dunno. I couldn't figure out what either. The message on the side of this railroad car (parked immediately across the street from my car!) says "WARNING! CAR MAY TIP OVER"!!

WHAT???

Where? I'm glad you asked. Crazy Aunt Purl asked knitters where they knit. I knit in the car. Waiting for Sweetpea. Waiting for whatever. Red lights to turn. Flagmen to let me through on the 118. Where ever I wait.

Also accompanied by purse, walkman, and reins needing to be reassembled to the bridle.

The view from my knitting. In my lap. In the car.

When? On this very cool, very wet, raining-off-and-on day! Yay!

Maybe Becomes Real

Remember how the Velveteen Rabbit became real? He was finally loved, and cherished, and he turned real. Well, our Maybe Mare became our Real Mare this weekend. This, my friends, is Wonder. She's a roan paint mare, 15 years old, and very nice. She's mellow, and well trained, and all the things that our other horses are NOT! Sweetpea will be taking lessons on her, and we will be enjoying her company and being her caretakers! Wish us luck with this pretty girl!

Change is Good, Right?

This is me, watching Sweetpea take her riding lesson. Yes, those are my gloves. I don't knit in them, but I try to remember to wear them when I work around the horses. They freaked Treasure out...silly filly!

Also, that is indeed the same sock I was working on at Santa Cruz Island in June. Ok, so they were in the car, and I had sort of forgotten them. They'll be done presently. (Yeah, right.

This is the middle school orientation for Sweetpea's 6th grade classmates. She looked awfully grown up. I remember the footprint I had on my tush the day I dropped her off at preschool. It matched (although it was much smaller!) the one on my tush this day. She's off and running in Middle School, loving it, and doing well. Can't ask for more than that!

And this, my friends, is probably the New Girl on the block. New Boy didn't work out, but this one is almost a slam dunk. She's a nice little 15 year old paint mare, has been an extensive 4-H horse, and will be perfect for Sweetpea and The Squeeze to ride.

County Fair and a Maybe New Boy

The county fair turned out well. Alissa got a first and second in both of the categories she entered! Yay, My Kid!

Here's a new "maybe" boy for DH to be riding...he's a purty boy!

Creative Genes!

This year's County Fair is upon us! Sweetpea has entered four of her creations, including this awesome dragon, and this wood carving, which of course, is an Ode to Mom. (She likes me well enough for an 11 year old! LOL)

Last year she did really well, so wish her luck this year! Why didn't I enter any knitting? Oh, yeah, because I've worn all the sox, and have only recently "almost" finished a sweater!
