We're still here...

It was a busy summer and fall with moving (again!) and school starting and new church callings and new jobs (Brian switched to a new department at the hospital and now works during the day instead of at night -yay!!) and new hobbies and all kinds of things. I decided the other day that I needed to update our blog...so here it is. No, not going to try and cram everything from the past 8+ months in here. Eventually, I might backtrack :)

I'll just do January 2015 for now...I think I have a couple of pictures of Joshua's Geography Bee, but they must not be downloaded yet.

1 January 2015
We'd wanted to take a family picture and between school, work and weather we just never got it done before Christmas...but it's how we started off the new year!
This is part of our back yard.

Yes, Timmy, climbs trees. I happened to look out the window one day and saw him doing it trying to get a bird that was teasing him.
He tries to climb trees in other ways...we're not sure if he's a dog, a bird, a kangaroo or what...

Joshua is 12 1/2 now...and almost as tall as I am.

Nathaniel is 8 and got his first pair of glasses right before Thanksgiving.

She was either praying she wasn't going to fall or pretending to be Shoulder Angel (thank you, Studio C)...Grace is 5 and wishes daily she was in kindergarten...she already has her teacher picked out.

Making plum jelly...I needed the quarts the plum juice was canned in to can more applesauce in - so we finally made plum jelly :)

Instead of going to bed one night, she pulled a 100 piece puzzle out of her closet and insisted on finishing it. I insisted back that she go to bed...so we slid what she had finished under her rug so Shadow didn't come take it apart in the night (silly cat) and she finished it when she got up the next morning.

Nathaniel's creation using his "Genius Kit" from Cub Scouts...yeah, Oregon Ducks...we really do live in Oregon now...

The last Monday in January was a no school day for the boys as the teachers had a work day or something. Since Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Lorrayne were going to be in Medford for an appointment we went down and met them for lunch and ran a few errands (kids, grandma and I went to Walmart...Grandpa took Brian to Harbor Freight...now Brian has another guy store to check out)
The fog had finally burned off by afternoon and we went to Family Fun Center and did go-karts and mini golf. Grace wasn't sure at first because she thought we were going in the bumper boats. By the time we were almost done she was telling me to drive faster.
Joshua is the only one big enough to be by himself so he got to go a second time and he "raced" some guy and his daughter.
We all enjoyed mini golf...then we drove home and found that the fog had never left Merlin :(

FIVE

Well, now that it is a week past Grace's birthday, I realized that I never did her birthday post!  Things were crazy last Sunday...and never seemed to slow down. Such is life anymore.

Five years ago at 6:43 pm with the late afternoon sun coming through the window in the hospital in Yreka, CA, our little princess entered the world. Grace Olivia, arriving 8 days late on Sept. 21st. She had the chubbiest cheeks I've ever seen on a child. We think that's where a good portion of her 8 lbs 13 oz was :) She was our smallest baby.  Here's a look back at our diva - she keeps us all hopping!

And here's a look back at the post introducing Grace to the world via the blog...the only one we had a blog for when they were born :)

In her birthday dress in our front yard before church last week...she didn't think I'd get it done in time, but I did :)
She's celebrated her birthday in a different house each year since 2011 - Etna, Fort Jones, Grants Pass and now Merlin...we plan on celebrating many more here!

EIGHT

At 10:31 on the morning of Sunday, August 27th, Nathaniel Kenneth Charles Lee arrived. Five days late, 3 weeks of contractions, a long night of labor, but he was here!  All 21 1/2 inches and 9 lbs 6.6 ounces of him. He has grown into such a loving little boy - always ready to give a hug, the child who is most willing to share with his siblings or anyone, often gives up his spot on the floor or the table or wherever so his sister can sit where she wants. He is an avid reader and his creativity is amazing. He has his moments of orneriness and moodiness, but overall he is awesome!  For the first time in three years we aren't moving on his birthday (we started around mine this year, so we're mostly finished :)) Moving has been hard for him, this last year it was most difficult for him to start at a new school and it took many months and a lot of prayers to get comfortable and adjust. But now he's ready to start third grade next week and hang out with old friends and make new friends. And he is excited about starting Cub Scouts and most importantly, being baptized a week from Saturday!  We love our little Monkey Boy so much!!
