He did it!

Almost 3 years ago Levi decided he wanted to quit his job and pursue law school. I knew it was something he had always had the desire to do. We took it one step at a time, praying along the way to make sure it was the right decision. We had just had Noah, and I was only working two days a week. We knew there would be a lot of changes to be made. First step was the LSAT, and Levi did well. So he applied several places and was accepted into SMU. Next he got a great scholarship that paid for a large part of his schooling. I am SO thankful for that, because I couldn't imagine what our student loans would be if we had not had that. I didn't realize how pricey those private schools are! Next up.....me going back to work full time. I wanted to be back in the schools and it just happened that the day I applied to Coppell was the exact same day they had posted a speech pathologist job with some specific criteria I met. It was definitely the place for me to be. The coworkers and friends I have made there have been a huge support system during the past few years. Things just seemed to fall into place. So, August of 2009 Levi started school, I went back to work full time, and Noah started daycare.

It's been a LOOOOOONG road. We honestly wouldn't have made it if we had not had the support of our family and friends. Encouragment, understanding, ears to listen, motivating words to keep us going, you name it. There were times when Levi wanted to quit and times when I wanted him to quit. I think we knew it wouldn't be easy, but I don't think we took into account everything, including the strain on our relationship and Noah going through ages 2 and 3 during this time. He became acutely aware of the unstructure going on in our house at times, espcecially when Levi's schedule had him gone days and evenings.

But on Dec. 16 he finished his last exam and is DONE with school. He will continue to work part time and participate in a review class 6 days a week that prepares him for the BAR in Feb. We are not positive what's in store for him yet, but we are extremely thankful he has a job to be at until decisions are made. I'll be off with the new baby until April 2 and will return to work until the end of the school year. Not sure about anything beyond that! Which is challenging for my controlling personality and need to plan :). We are trying to continue to be obedient to where God wants us to be, and trying to have patience and contentment just where we are.

I am VERY proud of Levi. He finished something that was not easy for him. Way to go, babe!

Recent Happenings

Sweet baby Harper was born on 11/11/11. Our newest baby cousin!

We wrapped up soccer! What a fun experience!

Noah's coach Daniel (who is about 19 or 20 years old) was volunteered by his sister to coach our team. He was great and very patient with the kids. But he did tell me at the party that this experience has really made him realize he wants to wait longer than he thought to get married and have kids. Haha!!

Wyatt's Shower

Levi and I have been VERY blessed with all we have received for Wyatt. Many of Noah's clothes will work (even though he was a summer baby), along with Brooks' and Briggs'. We also got all of Hudson's clothes, which has been great because he was a Decemeber baby and that's where we got many of the heavier sleepers, thicker swaddles and blankets. A lady at my mom's work was giving away her crib (a very nice one and looks brand new), along with a Peg Prego double stroller she only used twice. Niki gave me her white changing table and baskets (which matches the crib), along with all brand new bedding (the crib bedding, changing pad cover, curtains, night light cover, kleenex box, etc.). She had purchased it all for Hudson's new nursery when they thought they were moving, but never used it. And I REALLY love it. It's something I would have definitely picked out, a light blue and green argyle with navy accents. And definitely some other little things we get to use, like a baby k'tan (thanks Katie)! So there were just a few things we even needed, but I had some very sweet friends that still threw a shower for Wyatt and me. I told them I felt very lucky to have a shower after the discovery of Pinterest, because everything was SO CUTE!! They put so much thought and time into it and I really felt like Wyatt was celebrated. Here are a few pictures:

The theme was "cutie pie" with all different

types of pies and dessert!

A great day!!

We are pretty much ready to go as far as having everything for the nursery. BUT.....the nursery, which consists of needing to do some construction to our office, has not been started yet. And if you know my personality, this has been VERY difficult for me! Noah's room was ready to go and bags were packed by this point with him! That's probably why it was no big deal when he came 3 weeks early. But this time I've tried to be a little more laid back (or I have been forced to be!). I know he will have a room eventually! So hopefully I will have pictures of that to post before long! :)

We are finally starting to plan the nursery. I have been so blessed to have already been given lots of little boy clothes (Brooks/Briigs, Hudson) in addition to Noah's. So SOMETHING should be fitting this little guy! We have decided on the name Wyatt, so it's been fun calling him by name and hearing Noah say "baby Wyatt." He seems very excited, and keeps asking me "he just needs to get a little bigger before he can come out?" It's fun to watch him think about it, and come up with questions like "how long will it take him before he can talk and walk?" I think he wishes he could come out as an automatic toddler for him to play with!

This year....San Antonio

Several of my tridelt college friends and I try and get together once a year to catch up. We pick somewhere different each year. This year it was La Cantera Resort in San Antonio (we are hoping to someday venture out of Texas, but so far we are 4 for 4 in Texas!). It was great to see everyone, talk, relax, sleep, shop, eat and laugh. Here are a few pics from the weekend:

It went by TOO fast......

But we sure did have a blast! This summer was great. With Levi's school/work schedule this summer, we got some great family time in. I also feel very blessed to have had this time at home to relax and rest during the harder/sicker part of my pregnancy. Wednesday play dates, pool time, snowcones, sleeping in, catching up with friends and family, a more relaxed schedule......these are just a few of the things I will miss. But I am ready for fall and the whirlwind that is about to take place!! Noah will start his new preschool (which is just a couple miles from my school). It's very structured and focused, so I'm excited to see how he does there. Levi will start his new schedule of working full time during the day and then having class Monday through Thursday from 6-9:30. I've tried to really get us organized to make it easier, including file folders for each month with written out meal plans for each week and grocery lists already made out. I also went ahead and bought birthday cards for throughout the year, and have them addressed and stamped, ready to go in each month's folder. So no one better move!! ;) In the midst of all that, we will be getting ready for munchkin #2!

Here are some pics from our busy summer!
