(Place snappy blog title here)

I've been meaning to blog.  But I've been wicked sick the last few days, so my brain isn't working correctly.  Okay, I may not be wicked sick, just killer sick.  But, still...  those of you who know me really really really well know how hard it can be to get something out of my head that makes sense to other when I am feeling well.  When I'm not feeling well there is no hope.  Now you ask why this is making so much sense then?  Two reasons.  I'm not trying to be creative and I'm feeling much better except for the congestion and spells of vertigo that have started to happen again.  I'll have to tale the tell of my first series spells of vertigo some time in the future.

Percy Jackson!

I have become a fan of Percy Jackson.  I saw the movie Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lighting Thief  opening weekend.  I totally enjoyed it.  It had decent character development and plot.  Which is a rarity in this day and age.  I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie like I do with most movies based on books.  I ended up reading it afterwords.  The book was killer wicked awesome!!!  I'm really glad I read the book after the movie, because I don't think I would  have liked the movie very much if I had read the book first.

Rick Riordan has done a wonderful job of bringing Greek mythology to life in the modern day.  When I was younger I was a bit of a Greek mythology nut when I was younger.  I loved the stories and imagery.  I've always had a thing for (super)heroes and villains and monsters and such.  Whether they be Greek, Norse, modern or from somewhere else.

The heroes and monsters of old really jumped off the pages.  It was great getting re-acquainted with my childhood friends.  So much so that I order the other four books in The Olympian series.  I would highly recommend the first book to you, even though Barns and Noble suggest the reading age is 9-12 years old.  I figure I fit that category just fine.
