Magic in New York!

Last weekend I went to New York City with my sister, Emily. If you've never been to New York at Christmas time, you have got to try it! The city transforms into a winter wonderland. Throughout the entire city there are festive decorations to see and a feeling of magic in the air. Our top five favorites of the trip included:

1. The Charmin Public Restrooms in Times Square.
It's a party in there!
Everyone is very happy and welcoming. When we left they even thanked us for "coming and goin'!"

2. Ice Skating at the Rockefeller Rink
Life doesn't get much better than this!

3. Eating at Serendipity.
The peanut butter frozen hot chocolate is to die for!

4. Radio City Music Hall and The Rockette's Christmas Spectacular
It truly is spectacular!

5. Shopping at my all time favorite store, H&M.
Nothing makes me quite so happy!

The only drawback was how cold it got on our last day there. I haven't felt such cold since my mission! Believe it or not this is how I walked around for a good portion of the day.

Trip Update

This past October I had the opportunity to go to Boston and the New England area with some friends. I loved seeing all of the beautiful fall leaves, covered bridges, and lighthouses! We also went to a pumpkin festival and a farm where we got to pick our own berries and apples. I love Autumn!

Au revoir

The Eiffel Tower was by far my favorite part of Paris! We went to the very top and saw the sunset, and when it gets dark, the tower lights up and sparkles. We also got crepes at the base of the tower. Given all those things, how could I not love it?!

Other favorite sights included the view from the Sacre Coeur and painter's square.

We also saw the Louvre (from the outside), Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Opera House.

On our second day in Paris we went to Versailles. The palace and grounds were beautiful and impressive, but the hamlet of Marie Antoinette was by far my favorite! It is a little piece of heaven right here on earth! I would love to live there!

The colors inside the palace were so vibrant!
The Hall of Mirrors was amazing and ornate!
Here's heaven....Marie Antoinette's hamlet

A couple final, random thoughts from my trip.....

Smart cars are about 5'10" long...we measured!

One of the best things about coming home is not having to be a pack mule any longer. :) Bless all the people who had compassion on me and carried my gigantic suitcase for me up or down the train station or subway stairs. Of course that was after they smirked at me for having it. All I could do is smile and say, "American." I think they understood at that point.

Thun and Bern

We visited the quaint, little town of Thun, Switzerland

In Bern, we rented bikes for FREE!! (Good thing since Switzerland is pricey!)
Sights of Bern from our bike ride:
We also saw the temple in Bern.

Swiss Alps, continued...

Trummelbach Falls is a series of 10 waterfalls that have carved out part of the mountain. They come from three main glaciers and their power and force is immense!

We rode the giant cable car up to the Schilthorn to see the views below.

View of the valley from the cable car.

Good thing we brought extra pairs of shoes for the hike!

Even the cows are pretty here!

Fresh, cold drinking water everywhere in the valley!

Taking the train back to Lauterbrunnen.
