My brother Dan and Christine. Look at Dan's smile. I don't think it's ever been so big! We LOVE Christine!
Thanksgiving!
This is for you Mom. 4 of your kids together at once! That rarely happens! Next time we will try for all 6. This is Thanksgiving at my brother Dan's house in Las Vegas.
Dan the turkey man. It's a beauty!
While we were waiting, we played a lot of Hand and Foot. Thanks Jon for teaching us all how to play!

The Holy Wall....
As if Chris didn't have enough accidents in the last few weeks, here is yet another to add to the broken leg saga. Stairs can be so difficult when you are on crutches!
Chris was home alone and the doorbell rang. It was the missionaries coming over to dinner. We have been helping them teach an investigator that was actually baptized last night. Congratulations Caitlin!! I hadn't arrived home yet. He was in a hurry to get to the door, got about 4 steps from the bottom of the stairs and lost his balance. We are lucky that he didn't hurt himself more. Yes, that hole is the size of Chris' head because that is what created it! His head went right through the wall when he landed. Thankfully no concussion or injury. And also that he didn't hit a stud. I think he might have been knocked unconscious. So he finally made it to the door and had quite the story to tell. When I got home, I just kept laughing. After, of course, I asked if he was ok. I know....again...I'm a terrible wife. But at least I have a sense of humor.
He fell so hard that he even bent his metal crutch!
So of course the next day I was off to Home Depot to get stuff to fix the wall. I really enjoy doing things like this! I'm into projects. Like our bathrooms that I remodeled earlier this year. I like to consider myself a "Jill of all Trades".
"Whistle while you work".....It was a big hole so this time I had to cut sheetrock for it. Since the studs were really far away, I had to get creative. Well......the people at Home Depot helped with the idea. No metal mesh patches for this guy.
Then of course the fun part. I LOVE this stuff!!
What hole? The paint was still drying so it was a little off color. Now you can't even tell. But the story is priceless!
My Kickboxing Class
I finally got some pictures of me teaching!! I'm teaching Turbokick (a choreographed cardio kickboxing program with awesome music) at 24hr Fitness. It's so much fun!! We were small in numbers this night (Only about 15). Tuesdays bring the crowd around 30 or more.

Here we are in our warm up practicing our punches. That would be a left hook.

Top Ten Perks About Having a Husband with a Broken Leg
10. I know when there are dishes hiding upstairs because I brought them up to Chris. 9. I always get a good parking space.
8. We get a lot of sympathy from strangers who hold doors for us, give up chairs, etc.
7. There is only one shoe and one sock to pick up in the living room instead of two.
6. Less mobility= less mess (but Chris really isn't messy).
5. As long as the remote is out of reach on the couch, I get to watch anything I want on TV.
4. I'm the fast one now!!
3. He can't get after me for taking a long time to get ready because he now takes longer.
2. The Percocet. My husband is nice but on this stuff let's just say he is REALLY nice. His state of euphoria is hilarious.
1. We know we have some great friends that truly care about us! It's always a blessing to know who your REAL friends are!
Thanks Steffi for the beautiful sunflowers! They are so cheery! Happy Healing Chris!

Go Red Sox!!
It's that time of year again! It's time for the Red Sox to go to the World Series!! We are keeping our fingers crossed. I found this video that I thought was hilarious of our favorite closing pitcher. You gotta love those Red Sox players. Lots of character and a bunch of goofballs. This makes me laugh! You have to see it!

Chris is flying high...and I'm the warden!
Chris is just in this extreme state of euphoria. I have never seen anyone so high. He says that his mouth just can't keep up with his brain. He's talking all funny and it is hilarious! He is also so amazingly chill and mellow. And he is very very, actually incredibly, nice which is great but also slightly annoying. He is also VERY sensitive. Anything said above a whisper seems to upset him. Lord help me! He was up this morning bringing down his dishes from the night and putting them in the dishwasher. I am having a hard time trying to keep this man down so he will recover. Perhaps I should invest in a lot of duct tape. I dunno...any ideas? The doctor said that within 24 hours of his surgery he should start to feel a good amount of pain as the anesthetic shot to his ankle will be completely gone. Perhaps that is what it will take to keep him down so he can have a quick recovery. The doctor was very adament that he stay still and not get up for anything but to use the bathroom. I'll keep trying! I guess I don't make a good warden. It's driving me a little bonkers.

Thank you to all of our friends and family!!
I just want to publically thank all of our wonderful friends and family for their thoughts and prayers as we go through all of this. Thank you for thinking of us. We want to thank the Curtis family (especially Jessica) for her amazing home made chicken soup and rolls. They were the perfect thing for us after a LONG day in surgery!! Also, thanks to the Blairs for the hearty beef stew and yummy sour dough bread! It's the perfect thing to build those bones! You guys rock!!
And the surgery is......DONE! For now.
This whole experience has been so interesting. Last night Chris was hysterically laughing in his sleep. I kept asking him what was so funny but he was still asleep and just kept laughing. He doesn't remember it. Chris had his first surgery today. They called us early in the morning to get us in earlier because they had a cancellation. We thought that we would be out by noon. Well...6 hours later they let us out. I guess that the surgery took longer than expected. Also, he took a while to recover from the anesthesia. The doctor was very kind and professional. So now he is on crutches for at least 10 weeks until he gets his screws out with another surgery.
When Chris came out of the general anesthesia he was hilarious! He came out and he just kept saying "I love you Patience. I'm so lucky" over and over and over again. Then when the nurse brought him down to the car he just kept saying how thankful he was for her help over and over and over again. We were all saying "Yes, we know Chris". Doesn't he look lovely in this picture? He has the word "NO" written on his left leg just to make sure they didn't operate on the wrong one. He thought that was hilarious. The last thing that Chris said to the nurse was "you guys are expensive but you are great". He's got enough drugs now to keep him that happy for a while. Plus we have all kinds of new medical toys. The only pain now will be if the Red Sox lose and don't go to the World Series.Tuesday, October 16, 2007
The Doctor Says.....
So after a weekend of trying to keep Chris off his feet (nearly impossible for someone so active. I had to jokingly threaten to break his other leg so he would stay and rest) we went to the Orthopedic Surgeon today to have it all checked out. Well the foot is obviously still very swollen. Chris thought he was feeling much better and we expected to get the cast on and be on our way. Chris even dressed for school because he was planning on going after the doctor. Luckily the doctor is right accross the street from his school. Well.....our worst fears were fulfilled. Chris has to have surgery on the foot. He needs two pins put into his broken ankle. His Fibula should heal on its own so we don't need a plate put on that one. The doctor wanted to operate right away before scar tissue started forming. So Chris is off to surgery tomorrow at 11:30. Oh boy!!
Look at the pretty colors! He was actually off the Vicodin today. Hmmm.... I'm definitely not that tough!
Chris wanted to prove that he isn't an obese man and does really have normal ankles. The doctor said it's about 5 times as swollen and 2 more than it should be. HE JUST COULDN'T STAY OFF IT AND LISTEN TO ME!!
SO.....he has the rest of the week off of school and the beginning of next week while he recovers from surgery.
The doctor told us that he had to have it extremely elevated in order for him to have a successful operation tomorrow. So we put his foot on the Love Sac.
Well that wasn't very comfortable so we moved the Love Sac upstairs and put it on the fold out foam futon in the office. Unfortunately the TV is much smaller up there but hey.... He's quite comfortable now as you can see. Now....when is the Red Sox game on? At least I can watch my "Tivo"ed shows downstairs that he doesn't like. Dancing with the Stars, The Biggest Loser, and Grey's Anatomy. He's not a fan...
This is actually a blessing in disguise because he has some time off to study more for his National Board exam. Between Sox games and of course naps. He promises to listen to me now and take it easy for a while. I'll post pictures tomorrow of the surgery. What an adventure this has become! We are still laughing about it. Well....until we get the bills. Eek!
