When I grow up...

I want to be less flighty, lol! I have always been a little scatterbrained, but lately I just can't seem to get my act together. Perhaps, I should backtrack a little bit. Yesterday morning began with the jolt of realizing that my car was not in it's usual parking space. I immediately feared the worst...My car has been stolen! But, as I calmed down I thought of the alternative. Maybe my car had just been towed. So, I quickly came back into the apartment and contacted the tow company that services our community. Yep, they had our van. Great. In my haste to get home the previous night I had forgotten to hang my handicapped placard (a holdover from my knee surgery) on the rear view mirror. Stupid.

So, that was certainly a great start to the day. But, God was good and quickly provided a friend that could take us to the tow lot. Fortunately, she also had two unused car seats in her car, so that they boys could be safe! Such a God thing! By this time, there was no way that Jackson could go to school, so we just decided to make a fun day of it. We went to buy our Circus tickets for Friday night. But, when we arrived at the Box office, we discovered that our coupon was only good for tonight's performance. Surprise!

So, we headed home to plan our day around our new outing! I had everyone almost ready to leave when I noticed that Hunter's hair looked kind of funny. I reached over to touch it only to find it covered in applesauce! Now, I knew what had happened to Jackson's afternoon snack. Silly me, I thought he ate it. Off to the bathtub, we certainly couldn't take our saucy baby to the circus like this...Are you laughing yet? Well, you'll love this...In the bathroom Hunter took his diaper off and peed on my foot. Yeah, it was that kind of day.

But, in the end we got to the Circus and we had a blast. I guess that a day like this will be funny someday. But, for right now, I would appreciate you laughing at me...I'm not ready to laugh with you, yet! Because this morning when I went to take Jackson to school...I locked my keys in the car. Aaaah, someday I will get my act together. Until then, I guess I'll just have to blog about it.

Been there, done that...

As some of you may know, Matt and I met in college. We were both Theatre majors and had so many amazing opportunites to perform in wonderful shows. But, we rarely had the chance to work together. One of the rare exceptions was my final show at ODU, The Trashanator. Trashanator was a fun, upbeat children's theatre production that was written and directed by one of our beloved Theatre professors. It dealt with educating children on recyling and taking care of the world that we live in. It took kids into the world of a character from the future. A character whose world was riddled with trash and garbage, all because of the carelessness of those in present day time.

The show dealt with kids on a level that they would not only undestand, but ENJOY...Television. The Trashanator walked the kids through episodes of their favorite tv shows to help them learn how to better care for our planet. It was hilarious...picture Matt dressed as Teri Irwin from The Crocodile Hunter. Me, dressed as a pink power ranger and Scully from The X-files. And, perhaps Matt's finest moment...A WWE professional wrestler, lol! We had a blast working on this show.

It was actually during the rehearsal process of this show that I learned I was pregnant with Jackson. Surprise! So, not only was this a first for us as a couple, but we had now become a family act. I was very careful, but never had to stop performing. Jackson was making his theatre debut in-utero ;-)

So, when Matt and I learned that a local theatre was doing a revival of The Trashanator, we were so excited. We quickly made reservations. On Saturday, we were thrilled to take both boys to the performance. I am proud to say that the show is going strong and educating a whole new crop of kids on how we can keep our Earth beautiful. And when the actors called for a volunteer to appear in the show, guess who's hand shot up? That's right! Jackson has now appreared in the Trashanator twice! He was a star! I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the trees? Now, we can proudly say that we have been there and done that...again!

Blog...Take One

Hello all! It's a little strange to think of putting your life out there on the world wide web. Still, we live in the day and age of Facebook, Twitter, and E-harmony so I guess a little old blog is not such a big deal. But, to us it will be a way to keep in touch with those that we love, and allow them a peek into our everday life. And that is a very big deal! We hope that you enjoy it!

Jackson and Hunter are getting bigger by the hour. Jackson is on spring break this week. It's hard to believe that he is headed into the homestretch of his Kindergarten year. It's bittersweet because this will be his last year at Gloria Dei. It's sort of like leaving the nest that has nurtured him for the last three years. But, we are confident that Hilton Elementary will hold great things for him, and less of a whollop to our budget! But, in the meantime we are looking very forward to a great summer!

Hunter is so cute he is edible. He's walking all over the place, even giving running a try! He loves balls and puppies. Those are his favorite things to play with and talk about! And of course, how could I forget his love for cookies? He is a man after my own heart. We just couldn't love him anymore, but of course everyday we are proven wrong. God has so richly blessed us. These two little boys enrich our lives so much that we can't imagine what life was like without them!

The Easter Bunny comes on Sunday. Hooray! Surely we will be bombarded with wonderful new toys and enough chocolate bunnies to make Mr. Hershey proud. But, we as Christians know that the real reason to celebrate is our Risen Lord. May the Spirit of the Ressurection be with all of you. Until we meet again...
