I really liked the depth of the characters in this novel.  We get to read a lot about Noreen’s past and why she is so committed to the temperance movement.  I loved how her relationship with her mother changed realistically and sweetly in the novel.  I also really liked Noreen and James’s relationship.  They respected each other and developed a friendship before romance followed suit, which was enjoyable to read.  I learned a lot about 1890s Texas from the wonderful descriptions and historical details.  I loved the incorporation of strong spiritual themes and the growth and commitment of the characters to their faith.  I can’t wait to return to this town and its lovely characters in the next novel!  Highly recommended!

Love and Baseball by Jaime Jo Wright and Chloe JoAnne

Brielle has never wanted a boyfriend. She’s happy with her book boyfriends–purely fictional, right? Easy to maintain. She’s also not a huge fan of sports, except baseball. Not playing it. No. Again, books and cozy afternoons are her thing. But Brielle can get into baseball with the best of them when it comes to watching, repeating stats, and wearing her favorite jerseys. But apparently, that’s not enough in life. At least according to her four nosy aunts, who all think she needs a boyfriend, people at school who are convinced Brielle is a closet serial killer because she’s happier with her books, and yeah. Valentine’s Day is on the calendar.

There is a purpose for AI, and Brielle decides the genius thing to do is make a fake boyfriend. Complete with deepfake photos, Brielle creates the perfect boyfriend, and no one needs to know he’s entirely fictional. They just need to believe she met him over summer vacation, and he lives somewhere in North Carolina. Only he doesn’t. When baseball catcher, Brooks Mason shows up at high school, a lookalike to Brielle’s AI boyfriend, her entire world becomes a dog-eared, bent pages book nightmare.

Brooks is getting sick of all the girls at school wanting to date him. He wants to play ball and hang out. So, yeah. It makes sense to help Brielle out. Fake date? Why not? But once together, dating for show becomes an act that both Brielle and Brooks aren’t quite prepared for, and dealing with unexpected attraction, complicated situations, and interfering aunts and bffs?

What a sweet, clean romance!  I have been a long-time fan of Jaime Jo Wright and was so excited to learn that she was writing a young adult romance novel with her daughter.  This novel was full of fun characters, hilarious shenanigans, and clean romance.  Although it is marketed to young adults (and certainly is clean and appropriate for that age), I also found this enjoyable and I am far older than the “young adult” range.  The story had fun twists that kept the plot moving and made me invested in the story.  The depth of the story was well-written and I liked how the relationship between Brielle and Brooks developed realistically (and perhaps a bit awkwardly too).  Such a fun, enjoyable novel and certainly one I would highly recommend!

I was so excited to finally read more about Bellamy, the matchmaker we have been introduced to in the first three novels in this series.  He comes across a bit smug and stubborn in other books, but this novel dives into his complex character and reveals a softer side that has been hurt by love before, causing him to swear off marriage forever.  I really liked the similarities that he and Zaira share, which easily lends itself to believable friendship and romance.  There were a few twists that I did not see coming, which kept the book interesting.  I also enjoyed the fascinating pieces of history woven into the plot.  I liked how both characters had to overcome their misconceptions of perfection, instead striving to honor God and their families while recognizing their unique talents and abilities.  This was a delightful series and I am a bit sad to leave the Shanahan family!  Highly recommended!

What wonderful characters and well-written history!  Elizabeth Camden is a favorite author of mine because of her ability to research a time period and unique historical details so well, and this novel shines once again with her ability to weave such fascinating history among a captivating plot.  I absolutely love second chance romances.  Delia and Finn are the perfect pair, challenging each other to be better, pushing each other to try new things, and best of all, loving all the imperfections of each other.  I loved Delia’s growth as she sacrificed her comfort and her routines for Finn, learning new things about herself along the way.  Finn, too, learns to think before he acts impulsively.  The incorporation of spiritual themes such as trusting God was well integrated, and added to the depth of the story.  The romance is believable and the timeline is appropriate for a lasting romance to develop.  I truly loved every novel in this amazing series, and this one was such a great read!  I highly recommend it!

What a fun twist on the mail order bride romance trope! I was excited to read more about Thatcher after briefly meeting him in book one. Here, he and Amelia end up married after a miscommunication. I really liked how his relationship with Amelia developed respectfully. I was cheering for them to fall in love the whole book! Thatcher and Amelia both have to overcome inner voices that say they aren’t good enough, and I liked that they were able to support each other as they grew. The romance is clean, but carries some of Jody Hedland‘s signature sizzle. This book stands well on its own although I have enjoyed the whole series and cannot wait for Beckett to get his story next. Recommended for those who enjoy romantic historical fiction!

Jaime Jo Wright is such a masterful author! I am just amazed at the depth and complexity that she is able to give fictional characters and I found myself wrapped in Waverly and Jennie’s story from the first pages of the novel. It amazes me how these dual timelines intertwine and come together so beautifully by the end. It’s almost like putting together a puzzle piece by piece and then stepping back and seeing a magnificent image. There are definitely suspenseful twists in this novel that kept me on the edge of my seat and caused me to stay up late to read and find out what happens. This author does not shy away from tough topics, and this novel is no exception. Her stories always stick with me long after I have finished reading. I really, really enjoyed this novel and highly recommended it!

What an absolutely adorable regency novel! This author is wonderful at writing cute romances and I love that she set this one in the Regency time period. Witty banter mixed with a charming historical setting create the perfect backdrop to a fun plot full of clean romance. I was cheering for Simon and Emme and really enjoyed their interactions. I hope this author continues to write more regency novels. Highly recommended!

I was excited to read this novel since we first met Violet in the first book in the High Country Ranch series and I had suspected there was more to her character. I was right! This book starts with danger in the first chapter and has a few suspenseful twists throughout the novel. I liked how protective Sterling was of Violet and her sister which spoke strongly of his good character. Sterling and Violet have a past, but their relationship grows to new levels in this novel, which was fun to read. There is sizzle to their developing romance, but it all remains closed door and appropriate for Christian fiction. I also really liked the introduction of the tension between Violet’s sister and Beckett and can’t wait to read about his story in book 3. It was great to return to Colorado and read some cameos of past characters from past series, but I think this book stands well on its own. I cannot wait to read more in the series. Recommended for those who love historical fiction!

I was drawn to Chaisely from the very first chapter and found her tragic story engaging.  I love her passion to protect the vulnerable and her compassion for them made her very likable.  The author did a fantastic job with her historical research, and there are certainly sobering parts of this novel as she accurately shows the horrors done by Hitler during this dark time in history, yet there is a distinct thread of hope in the novel that I also found inspiring.  The courage of those who stood up to evil amazes me and even though this novel is fictional, there are very real parts of the history portrayed that sat with me long after I finished the book.  I liked the romance and the growth of the characters and I also enjoyed that this novel kept my attention with a bit of suspense.  This is one of those stories that has some sobering moments, but the writing skill of the author still creates a novel that has depth and substance that I overall enjoyed.  I recommend this book to those who love historical fiction!

I love opposite attract troupes, and this novel was full of spirit as Alice and Jack clash over this piece of Virginia property.  It was easy to like them individually and then fall in love with them as their relationship naturally developed.  The author does such a wonderful job with her research and attention to detail, which shines through in this novel as well.  The themes of dysfunctional families and forgiveness are also expertly interwoven and add depth to the story.  I loved the twist of mystery to the novel as well and it easily kept my attention as I read late into the night.  This author is a master at historical novels and one of my favorites, but she is quickly becoming a favorite of the modern story as well.  Much loved and highly recommended!  I cannot wait for book two in the series.
