Back to School Again.
The kids were torn this year about going back to school. They were excited to see their friends but not so much for the actual school part. Oh, how I remember the same feelings.

This is Macey with her broken foot in her way cute first day outfit and her "lame" granny shoe. I just told her it would be a good attention getter for the boys.

This is Macey and Madalyn out in front of the house when they came home from school. It was totally out of the question to take one before school.

The three amigos- Braden, Cameron and Maren leaving for the bus stop.

There they go! Cameron was so happy to ride the bus and be going to Kindergarten.

I wasn't sure what to do first!
Take a nap...Run an errand...Take a hot bath...Finish a project...

I ended up trying to fight the fruit flies that have invaded our house. They are everywhere and are driving me crazy! Happy back to school!

Just a thought from what I've been thinking...

This is a goal I am personally revisiting in my life...With school starting and now having to live to anothers schedule and not one of my own making I needed to change my attitude!!! So I am trying my best to see the good amongst the bad, especially with the way things have been, and still haven't changed all that much except in how I look at them!! So this quote by Elder Wirthlin once again wisely reminds me that I do have the power to make things better by simply making a choice. "When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change."

"Faith and doubt cannot co-exist for one will dispel the other."-Pres. Monson I have really been learning a lot about faith lately and the power that comes from having confidence in the Lord. Being a mom, I naturally like and need to know what is going on, how it is going to happen, when it is to take place...I have learned that I can offer my puny ideas of how to solve a problem to the Lord but, He usually comes up with something totally off my radar and in His own timing. AND it is ALWAYS way more beneficial than my finite and mortal idea of what I'd like to have happen. I am learning to still give my two tiny cents of an idea to solve a problem because often times that's all I've got in doing all I can do, however, I am growing in letting go of the need to know the how, the where and the when, when it comes to the Lord. He has not let me down before and has come through with miracles that has caused my confidence and faith in Him to grow tremendously.

This year we have once again set goals as a family and we are repeating some once again.
One goal of mine came from the message Pres. Monson gave in conference. "We become so caught up in the busyness of our lives. Were we to step back, however, and take a second to look at what we're doing, we may find that we have immersed ourselves in the 'thick of thin things.' In other words, too often we spend most of our time taking care of the things which do not really matter much at all in the grand scheme of things, neglecting those more important causes."
I am hoping to re-prioritize some things in my life and in our home, so we will not be caught up in "the thick of thin things." So, we have started to ask the question, Dr. McConnell, was asked at the dinner table each evening by his father. "What have you done for someone today?" To be honest it was a bit of a struggle that first night. I'm hoping the answers will come easier as this becomes a habit in our family for 2010.

One goal we set as a family this year is to do our best to see the good amongst the bad, especially with the way things have been. So this quote by Elder Wirthlin reminds us that we do have a choice. Some things have been easier to be more positive about than others but it is a work in progress for us and it's looking good so far!

McKenna was really trying to get my attention one day but was talking so fast and desperate I couldn't really understand her, which can be tricky anyway. Finally, I looked at her and told her to slow down. "MY NOSE IS WEA-KING!" Sure enough, she needed a kleenex for her runny nose. Hello Mom. Anybody home? Leaking nose over here....

Cameron stayed home from school because he hadn't been feeling well. The last day he really could have gone but I caved and let him stay home. Of course, after school he wanted to play with friend. I told him he couldn't play with a friend if he didn't go to school. "What?! Mom! You should have told me that before!" 10/15/09

Madalyn was trying to help Cameron fix an umbrella. She finally handed it back to Cameron and said, "Sorry Cameron. I know how to fix it but, I don't know how." ( No, I'm not joking.) 10/17/09

Cameron comes up with the funniest, although sometimes not so parent approved, quotes. I was driving Maren, Braden and Cameron to school and Cameron out of the blue pipes up, "I'm glad I'm not in Preschool anymore...That place sucked!" Oh My Word! I busted a gut laughing and all thoughts of trying to correct his language flew out the window. Preschool really didn't "suck," his teacher was fabulous, he has just looked forward to going to kindergarten for sooo long. I'm glad he is happy now that he is doing it. We'll see how he feels next month. 9/09

Cameron asked me if it was fast Sunday today. I said "No." Then he stated, "There's fast Sunday and slow Sunday. Today is slow Sunday."

In the car, Cameron said this to me about wearing his seat belt, "Trust me, mom. You don't have to worry about me."

Macey went on a Spring Break trip with two of her best friends to St. George and Salt Lake. We really missed having her with us while the rest of us had a "stay-cation." When she returned home, Cameron asked Macey if she missed him and she said, "Yes, I really did." "Did you really miss everyone?" "I really missed everyone." "Then why did you leave?" 3/09

Cameron's preschool teacher stopped me when I picked him up the other day and said, "Cameron shared something with his friends today..." My brain started racing, "Oh no..." Miss Laura continued, "He said that his dad was 31 and still alive!"
