"We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world." - Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)
Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character for it becomes your DESTINY.
Joining SAFSA swimming has been a right choice for me. I get to meet people from all walks of life and at the same time it enlarges my perspective of how the world is, rather than focusing on myself all the time.
It has been a challenging one so far, especially having the need to plunge into the pool from the board and to swim in a pool of depth 4.0 metre.
Another challenge to conquer.
Different people have different expectations in life. To some, perhaps a simple life will be sufficed. With that, they can be in good mood almost every single day despite the setbacks they face along the way.
I have found mine. What's yours?
*Love and passion are the deepest forms of happiness.
Some things in life, you will always remember all your life no matter how you try to forget them.
At the end of the day, nothing else matters except for the relationships you have built. Gratefulness is an important value to instill in us - even a simple 'thank you' for what they have done for you can brighten their day.
Never belittle these two words.
Communication is a very important aspect of life. We need it daily, be it communicating with our family, friends or relatives. Any single mistake can be costly - it causes hurt to a friendship or a relationship which can never be healed no matter what the other party tries to make up for it.
That's the vulnerability of relationships. One mistake, and they will be ruined.
I just realized something - I have been deceiving myself all these while. Please erase those memories of mine and never allow them to reappear again.
*I detest the cruelty of reality.
"I think people that have a brother or sister don't realize how lucky they are. Sure, they fight a lot, but to know that there's always somebody there, somebody that's family." - Trey Parker and Matt Stone
Sometimes it's not necessary to have a tremendous belief or attitude about something in order to succeed. Sometimes people produce outstanding results simply because they don't know something is difficult or impossible. Sometimes just not having a limiting belief is enough.
There is this story of a young man who fell asleep during math class. He woke up as the bell rang, looked up at the blackboard, and copied the two problems that were there. He assumed they were the homework for the night. He went home and labored all day and all night. He couldn't figure out either one, but he kept trying for the rest of the week. Finally, he got the answer to one and brought it to class. The teacher was absolutely stunned. It turned out the problem he'd solve was supposedly unsolvable. If the student had known that, he probably wouldn't have solved it. But since he didn't tell himself it couldn't be done - in fact, quite the opposite: he'd thought he had to solve it, and he was able to find a way to do it.
I lost to my myself on many occasions. That's the way the world is - everyone learn from their setbacks and mistakes. Perhaps to some people, they use mistakes people make to condemn them. We are all not perfect; each and every one of us are learning something new every single day.
It's not the time to dwell on it. Time to move on and put the past behind.
*Everyday is a new opportunity to learn and to become a better person.
"In life we don’t get what we want, we get in life what we are. If we want more we have to be able to be more, in order to be more you have to face rejection." - Farrah Gray
I was too self-focus and missed out the joy of life as a result. Another important life lesson learned.
In this world of harsh reality, sometimes the thought of leaving all the responsibilities, I have to shoulder, aside does cross my mind. If I were to do that, I would be an irresponsible person.
Life hit you hard without you knowing. I need the strength to continue withstanding the external pressure coming from all directions.
Weekend is finally here. This week, or rather this month has been a hectic one. Weekends seem so short, and weekdays are long.
I seriously need a good rest.
As I look back, memories vividly reappeared at the back of my mind. It happened only three months ago, but everything seem to have just happened yesterday.
What will the outcome be? Only time will tell.
What exactly were I doing for the past few days? Unhappy events happened, no doubt about it. But, why am I allowing them to affect my mood and my state of mind?
I am not going to admit defeat.
I am stuck in a situation when no solution is in sight. What should I do?
Please stop all these tormenting, excruciating mental tortures.
It is only the first day of the week and things started changing for the worse. Fall in timing has been changed to 0730 instead of the usual 0800. This journey to the west has been an ongoing routine for me. Now that the change has been implemented, I can always curse and swear. What's the point? This is an order I cannot defy.
One year and four months to freedom.
"There are no great limits to growth because there are no limits of human intelligence, imagination, and wonder." - Ronald Reagan
I have finally stepped out of my comfort zone. Like I have said, I am sick of this mediocre life of mine and it is time for changes to take place.
Looking forward to a brighter and promising future.
At times, you may feel life is unfair to you. Some of the questions you might ask yourself:
1) "What do I have to go through all these trials and tribulations while others are enjoying themselves?"
2) " Why are things so easily available to some people, while others have to work hard for it?"
Leave that aside. I do believe many things happen for a reason. You can choose to avoid or you can choose take up the challenges. Going through hardships do have its advantages too. You will appreciate what you work hard for and most importantly it builds your character and personality.
Life is fair, just that different people go through different challenges.
Nothing is permanent in this wicked world - not even our troubles.
What a hectic week it has been. To my surprise, today's parade was outstanding. The hard work and effort put in during the rehearsals had paid off.
Relief.
Finally, tomorrow will be the actual COC parade. Rehearsals for the past three days had been an enjoyable one. At the same time, fatigue came along too. Thinking back, I am glad I accepted the challenges with optimism.
Another hurdle cleared.
There are many things which are beyond my control. No point thinking about what I am unable to do for the time being. Alright, leave that aside for now. No point worrying.
At times, I just feel I am handicapped. So many things I want to achieve, yet at the same time I do not have the ability to do so. This is getting on my nerves.
I know I should not be grumbling about all these things, focusing on what I can do about it is a more appropriate option. Well, emotions do get the better of me and numbed my sense of logic.
Optimism, where are you?
"All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them." -Walt Disney, American Entrepreneur and Entertainment Mogul, Walt Disney books.
Everyone has dreams. Some dream of finding a perfect mate and building a storybook family. Some dream of becoming rich. Some of being the first in their family to go to college. Some of getting out of a small town. Some of becoming a star athlete, actor or model.
We all have dreams yet few of us actually do what it takes to make them come true. Walt Disney had a dream to create a place that would be "a source of joy and inspiration to all the world," and he had the courage to go out and actually build Disneyland in 1955. Do you think he believed that he would achieve such greatness at the time? Probably not, but he did dream big and act upon his desires.
If you're going to dream, you might as well dream big. You should envision a life in which you have all of the things that you truly want to make you happy. Make that vision as clear as possible without getting so locked-in that it can't evolve and change over time. Then, chunk it down into specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time sensitive (S.M.A.R.T.) steps and have the courage to act upon making your dream come true.
The problem most people have is not dreaming big, but rather believing in themselves and having the courage to pursue what they really want to get out of life. Too often, when faced with the slightest resistance, people give up and settle for something less than they want or deserve. As a result, dreams fade and motivation to do, or achieve, more in life is converted into apathy and discontent.
People may display moments of courage or bravery throughout their life when faced with adversity, but having the courage to relentlessly pursue your dreams is what it meant by living a courageous life. Your dreams can come true, if you just have the courage to pursue them. Stop making excuses and DREAM BIG!

How I wish life could be a walk in the park, but that will never happen. At times, when things are not going in your way, giving up seem to be the only option.
Don't give up, miracle is on the verge of happening.
Realistic. Persistence. Patience. Practical. Focus.
Don't give up, the best is yet to be.
Why can't people grow mentally (wiser) as they grow up physically? This is getting on my nerves.
I have had enough of this mediocre life of mine. It's time for changes.
Who you are today, is because of the decisions you’ve made in the past. Who you will be in the future, will be determined by what you do now.

It has been a routine to have performance on the very first day of the new year for the past 7 years. However, it is different this time round. I went there as an audience instead of a performer. So how does it feels like? To me, it is more enjoyable to watch rather than perform.
Indeed, it is a great start to a brand new year.
