Laney's Bible Presentation

Laney's Bible Presentation was today at church. This is a special time for the little ones as they are presented with their own personalized copy of the New Testament and the Psalms. I was glad we waited until we were back in the new worship center as well with our friends and family in one place again! I'm glad I brought Laney's hat from Grandma! The bow I originally had was too small and didn't really look good, but the hat looked cute with her dress.

Anyway, here are a few pictures from the day.

I've edited these in Photoshop, and sometimes they look worse when compressed for web. Sorry! I promise they don't print this bad! I'll switch them out with web versions soon.

I Know How You Feel, "Franklin..."

I took the kids for a quick zoo trip yesterday. The weather was nice and naps worked out perfectly. We are all about going at the end of the day when it's EMPTY and not so darn hot (thanks, Melissa!). Anyway, I took my camera along to get some new subjects to tinker with.
We stopped to ask one of the Rangers something when someone called in a 'distressed turtle' in the Okapi (one of the coolest, yet strangest looking animals ever) exhibit. We all arrived to see this:

Seriously... can't you relate!?!?

It was a little sad and a lot entertaining. There was another turtle guy standing next to him. Can you imagine that conversation? The one turtle on his back occasionally kicking his legs to no avail; the other turtle just looking at him being NO help whatsoever.

Carter is all about 'Franklin,' the cartoon turtle, these days. So these turtles were 'just like Franklin.' Or... as he says, just like 'Fra Fra.'

Not exactly the perfect photo op, but one that I appreciated none the less!

Oh, and of course a token picture of Carter. Laney was in the Bjorn, so no pics there.

Snack Attack

While I have a love/hate relationship with the 'Safe Feeder' - and several friends have mentioned how gross they think the little gadgets are - our kiddos LOVE them.

I could keep always keep Carter occupied with the SF and some apple slices or whatever else I wanted to stuff in there. Laney is no different, though I've branched out a bit with her. She's had pears, apples, peaches, but her favorite by far is frozen strawberries.

She actually cried when Joel took it away to put more strawberries in the first time she had them.
This item quickly went to the top of my 'why didn't I think of that?' list. I believe this was invented by a stay-at-home dad...

Rub-A-Dub-Dub, Lil Hills in the Tub

My first thought was, 'will there be enough room for Laney?'

I'm not ready for it to happen every night just yet, but they did have a good time. Carter was teaching Laney the ways of the bathtub as only a 2-year old little boy can do!

Quintessential Little Boy

I love every inch of his black-eyed, cheese-stained, chalk-colored, sweaty little face.

Happiness is a Warm Blanket...

Or in this case, a ratty, chewed up, tattered collection of string. No diary of Carter's childhood would be complete without showcasing "BB" (Blue Blanket).

Here is BB in the beginning. And Carter in the beginning. :)
Quite a transformation. And be glad you can't smell it.
Laney has a blanket exactly like Carter's - only pink. The pictures just can't capture the... "essence"... of Blue. And yes, this is BB spread out.

Carter started taking a liking to BB 'round about the time he started teething. He loved to chew on it, and...well... still does. He pulled out the strings for a long time, but now he knots the loose pieces up and chews on them. In a way, I guess he's preserving him. Those knots are gross, but they aren't coming undone anytime soon. Laney LOVES her Pinkie, too. She chews and chews on it, but hopefully it won't turn out like this. They don't like to switch though. Carter often will "share" BB by putting one of the lovely, saliva-soaked knots in Laney's mouth. She gags. I would, too. He doesn't like hers either because it's pink. And just because it's hers. We really need to get him another in case something (gasp) ever happens to this one.

BB is quite the traveler. Not that he's gone many places OUT of the house (we try not to take him), but he can be found in a variety of places IN the house. The list grows daily, but I'll share some pictures here. BB has been in every type of bag Carter can find, Laney's empty formula cans, the dishwasher, cabinets, etc... Carter loves to play hide-and-seek with BB. He'll put BB somewhere and then come find you and say, "BB, where aaaaaaarrrrrrreeeeee you?

I will continue to add more "BB sightings" as they happen.

In closing, I wrote a little something in BB's honor. I call it:
"Ode to BB"
BB, oh, BB...
you are quite the rage.
Though sometimes you smell
like the bottom of a hamster cage.
