You say Tomato, I say "Lo-lo"

Ah the garden. We got a tomato plant from a local farmer earlier this summer and it has turned into quite the tree. It is nearly 7 feet tall. Since we planted it a little late it is just now starting to produce ripe fruit. Much to the man of the house's delight they are weird looking. One might even say "What the heck?!?". The boys go out to check the progress every evening. While dashing into the backyard one can hear exclamations of "LO-LOES!".

The Zoo

Ahh the zoo. We got a membership this summer and have loved living close to the zoo. This past week, with a grandma in tow, we headed on over to enjoy some of the cooler fall weather. Usually he rides in the stroller with just a few get-out-and-roam breaks. Well, not this time. He RAN all the way down the path from the top of the zoo to the exit. That is the entire length of the zoo. I can't say for sure but I'd guess it's at LEAST a quarter of a mile. Not a huge feat, unless you are only 31 inches tall and your legs are taking 3 steps for every one step everyone else takes. It was a fun run for him, complete with a kind of "auuuuhhhh" noise that turned into a "auh auh auh auh auh auh" with every little jog. He took a few stops to check things out but quickly pointed his chubby finger down the path and off he went, jowls jiggling and happy as a clam.

My Mr. Helpful Man

Well well well. It would appear that the photo upload did not crash the browser this time! So here is a picture of Mr. Helpful Man. When I'm doing stuff in the kitchen I let him play around in the cupboards that don't have anything harmful in them (Why, yes! Yes that IS a rubber band you see on the knobs as a baby proofing "safeguard" - I assure you I have upgraded to the official pain-in-the-ass-to-install hardware latch since that picture was taken). Anyway, as for playing in the cupboards, he loves it. Putting bowls in other bowls, taking bowls out of bowls, stacking bowls, drumming on bowls, climbing in the shelf, climbing out of the shelf. Then one fine day he decided to play in the lazy susan. So I grabbed the camera.

I know I could have stopped him, but after he cleared it of its contents, he headed in and I was honestly rather curious about how far he might make it and if at some point he would get stuck. Well, he made it all the way to the back of the cabinet and in the space behind the spinny part discovered that there was a good sized pile of what appeared to be Cocoa Puffs (yes, it was cereal thank HEAVENS).

An interesting side note: In the nearly one year that we have lived in this house we never purchased Cocoa Puffs, let alone stored them in that cabinet. Ewww. So thank you Mr. Helpful Man for helping me to see that clearly I should have cleaned the kitchen better when we moved in. Or really anytime after that. Sigh.
