William pulled a sheet of stamps out of my purse and wanted to know what they were. My first reaction was-- don't peel them off--they're not stickers! He actually listened and allowed me to try to explain what they were. He found the big sticker that is on the front of the pack and asked if he could have that one and I obliged. He stuck it right on the front of his shirt. I just chuckled because I knew it would drive Michael nuts. As soon as Michael saw the "stamp" on William's shirt I knew we were in for a typical toddler "round for round". It goes something like this:
M: Will, why do you have that stamp on your shirt?
W: It's not a stamp, it's a sticker.
M: It's not a sticker son, it's a picture of a stamp.
W: So, I want to wear it.
M: Will, you can't wear a stamp on your shirt.
W: Daddy, it's NOT a stamp, it's a sticker.
Michael gave in knowing that William wasn't going to rest until we acknowleded that it was a sticker.
So off we went to breakfast with the Freedom Stamp on my child's shirt. I just chuckled the whole time. This was not a battle I was willing to fight. Who cares if he wants to cover his shirt it random stickers. I know I'll have bigger battles to take on in the future! For now I just love the fact that he doesn't care what anyone thinks!
