Maren's 2nd Birthday

My sweet girl turned two on August 27th! We had a celebration at school and at home. At home Maren is silly and loud and into everything. At school though, when I drop her off or when I come by to see her she is quiet as a mouse! She is also so hard to get to smile. Again, at home she is quite different.

The Birthday Girl

All of her friends getting ready for cake!

I thought this was so sweet! Maren's teachers made this banner for her and had everyone put their handprints. I kept it and hung it up at her party.

Mrs. Lanita and Mrs. Jennifer with me and Mae
These two teachers are wonderful with Maren! They love her feisty side and crack up when she plays hard to get.

We had to tickle her to get her to crack!

Mrs. Lanita didn't care what Maren said she was going to get her kisses anyway!

Mrs. Jen was after some love too. Maren knows exactly what they want when they ask for hugs and kisses, but she puts up a fight and makes them work for it. As soon as we get out of the door she talks about them and first thing in the morning she talks about getting to school to see them.

Maren was very excited to bring William a cupcake from her school party!

When we got home we had plenty of birthday cards in the mail! The kids love those cards with recorded messages and songs. Maren got a few from Nana and Meme. Her favorite was a Princess card. I swear no matter how hard I try to steer her away from the super girly stuff she heads right to it!!

This is Mae dancing to her princess card. She played it over and over and over.....

"Mom, stop singing!"

"Happy Birthday dear, Maren!"
She was not too fond of the flames-- thank goodness her big brother was there to help.

There's my girl!!

We had music on and Will was dancing for her and cracking her up.

Shake it, Will!

Yum, cake!!

Happy 2nd Birthday my sweet angel!

T-Ball Starts!

William played Fall Ball for the first time this year. I was able to snap these 2 pics before they headed out to the first practice. Michael coached little league when we were in college so I know he has loved getting back out on the field!

William's favorite color is red. When we went shopping for cleats we had said that we weren't going to go specifically for red ones we'd just get what fits best. Low and behold the only pair in his size were red ones!

Dora, Dora, Dora the Explorer!

Emily and Maren's birthdays are on back to back weekends so the end fo August is full of festivities! This year Emily had a Dora party. We ended the weekend by taking the girls to see Dora the Explorer at the Fox Theatre. They loved it!
Happy 3rd Birthday Emily!

The DeFuscos

Emily's fabulous Dora cake thanks to Mommy & Aunt Peggy

Mr. David reading to Maren & Ashley
We had another birthday party for some Primrose friends. It was at the clubhouse in our neighborhood so went from one party to another!

They had an awesome facepainter at this party!

Here's Will and his friend Dylan. They were at Primrose together. They are best buds!

That's Maren with Jack, the birthday boy talking to Mrs. Joan. Mrs. Joan is her favorite-- she's our neighbor and she works at Primrose.

A few months ago we got a notice that Dora was coming to town. I thought it would be fun to take the girls. Mel and I took Em and Maren and our friend Lea and her little girl Ashley also came with us. (Lea and her husband David play tennis with Michael and I was also their Realtor this year!)

Mel, Em, Ashley and Lea's hands

All the girls sat with their mouths wide open! Ashley could hardly stand still she danced around her seat and in the aisles. She was hilarious!

We were right up front and let me tell you- there is no other way to go to a kids' show!

If only they sat this still when we really needed them to!!

Another self portrait attempt

Em & Mae

These 3 had a blast together but when we tried to get them together for a picture it was impossible!
It was a great Mother-Daughter Day!!

Ready for Mass

August 19, 2009
First school mass
The parents are invited to attend mass but they ask us to wait 6 weeks or so. They really work with the little ones on mass behavior and unfortunately with us there they get a bit distracted.

First Day Surprise

William's first day of school was a Friday and it was just half a day with half of the children in his class. This gave Mrs. Burke a chance to get to know the kids a little better and gave the children a chance to get settled in their new surroundings.

Will's first full day was the following Monday and it was PE day with his PE uniform. There's been a lot to get used to at St. Joes and part of it is the ever changing uniform. Twice a week he has PE and there's a PE uniform. Wednesday's are Mass and there is a Mass uniform and the other 2 days are his normal school uniform.

So anyway, the weeks leading up to school Will started to tell us that one of his front teeth was loose. He kept playing with it and wiggling it. It was driving him crazy. He climbed into the car after his first full day on kindergarten and I could tell that something was missing. While waiting for carpool his tooth finally fell out! Thankfully the aide in his classroom was nearby and she put it in a ziploc.

See Mom!

Yeah, the Tooth Fairy is coming!

All gone!

My Ballerina

About a year ago I was driving past the Georgia Ballet School and I couldn't wait to get home and look them up online. I wanted to find out how old the little ones had to be to start classes. I was so excited to find out that they had a Mommy and Me class that Maren could start when she was 2 years old. We started going to our Monday morning classes in September.

I love that you can see her little belly in her leotard!

She was being a very good sport while I kept snapping pictures of her!
Maren's birthday will always make her one of the youngest in her class. I must say I was quite surprised by how well she did in class. Some of the other moms commented how well she did for being so young-- I was so proud!

All of us had our cameras on the first day. It's a wonder poor Ms. Erin got anything done!

They spend time doing stretches on the floor and then they go across the floor on tippy toes and hopping (those are Maren's favorites).

It took her a while to see that she was in the mirror. She spent most of her time checking out everyone else--- esp. the one little girl who was running wild (there's always one)!

You sign up for the class 6 weeks at a time so we finished our first run at the end of September. I took a break in October because our schedule has been so hectic. I wasn't sure if Mae was going to miss it, but everytime we drive past school she tells me, "I want to go dancin" "I want to see Miss Erin". She also walks arouhd on her tips toes and practices her jumping.

Here are the girls leaving class. Erin uses the ribbon from her toe shoe to make a "choo choo" for the girls to hold on to and walk to the classroom. On the first day Maren wanted me to hold her and walk with her to the room. By the end of her lessons she was running to get on the choo choo.

We'll be signing up for classes again soon!
