Life With Three Kids

July 26, 2011

I owe you an update, guys. I've been busy busy busy. And by busy I mean I've been doing lots of laundry, cleaning, dishes, cooking, holding, yelling, crying, laughing and hugging. I am sure there's more stuff I do that I forgot to put on this list. But that's what I've been doing all these summer months.

Emma has been going to the summer camp at the embassy. It's half a day with lots of activities and an hour of swimming. She loves every minute of it and I have it a little easier when she's there. She's been doing greta at her swimming lessons and almost swimming without any floating devices. Just couple of months ago she was freaked out every time water got into her eyes. So it's been a big improvement for her.
Alyssa is staying home with me and my days are never boring with that girl. She knows my buttons and pushes them any chance she gets. We've been having a hard time with her crazy tantrums. She's very much on an agressive side of tantrums and when she throws one you better go and hide somewhere. If you end up near her you will be kicked, pinched, scratched and screamed at. I won't go into much complaining because I can go on and on about it and everybody knows that two year olds are not fun.
Alyssa also became a mommy's girl and so I never get free time anymore because she wants me always by her side. At first it was actually nice because I was never as exciting as Matt for the girls, but now it got old and I want my free time back... not that I get much of it anyways.

And this little lady is still being a newborn. Sometimes I expect a lot from her like falling asleep on her own or entertaining herself for a little bit while I prepare dinner or fold our huge stack of laundry. But then I remember that she's not even four months old yet, so I back off a little. She started rolling around like a rolly polly from her back to her stomach. That freaks her out when it happens when she's about to fall asleep. So we're working on getting used to that. She's still being adorned by her sisters. I still have to fight them off of her and remind them to be gentle with the baby. Katelyn is getting used to that manhandling and even smiles to the girls which leads to even more "love".

So life has been pretty hectic and will probably be like that till we move to Bulgaria which is not happening anytime soon. Till then I am trying to take one day at a time and spend a lot of time outside at the playground. I think it's a magical place where everybody seems to be pretty happy.

To prove my point: Alyssa taking a nap in the swing.

Happy 4th of July!

Just wanted to say that we're alive and well. Still in a survival mode. Emma's been home for a week as her school is over for summer. Having three children is no joke for sure. I am always running around from kid to kid trying to meet everybody's needs.
Katelyn just turned three months so I hope my life will just get easier from now on. I might be back here at least once a month if I'm lucky :)

Did I Forget To Mention...

May 13, 2011

That we got our next post assignment?

It's Sofia, Bulgaria. I had some mixed feelings about this one. I am excited to go somewhere else which is not Russia, and at the same time bummed it's not something more exciting than Bulgaria. Matt will have to do language training for it and we'll stay in DC for 7 months before we move to Bulgaria in summer of 2012. The good part about it is that the winter weather should be warmer than in Moscow. Let's hope for that because I don't know if I can take any more of the brutal winters we got last couple of years.

In other news, Katelyn is growing fast. She is going to be 6 weeks old tomorrow. We are so happy to have her in our lives. She learned how to hold her head, how to smile (you have to work hard for that though) and how not to get discouraged from being harassed by her older sisters... well, she's still working on the last one.

We leave next Friday to go back home to Moscow. I cannot believe how fast this time went. It's been so nice to stay with my in-laws and have all the help I needed while being pregnant and now with the baby. I will be forever grateful to them for letting me and my crazy kids stay with them for so long. Every day I think about how will I ever be able to manage three kids by myself. I make up routines in my head and think that it will all be perfect. I know though it will be a hard summer for me. So I try to at least prepare myself mentally for that.

I'll survive. I'll survive. I'll survive.

New Doll

April 10, 2011

Our new little doll is here and we are so happy to have her with us! :) She came on April 2 in the morning and surprised us all with a head full of dark hair.

She likes to sleep during the day and sometimes likes to be awake at night. She seems to be calm when she's awake (unless it's 2AM) and is getting used to being 'loved' by her older sisters.

Emma and Alyssa love their new little sister and always want to hold/hug/kiss/poke her.

It's been a hectic week. We tried going to the store, to the park and just outside. Its gonna be a big adjustment of having three kids and I am a little scared of going back to Moscow and having to deal with three kids all by myself when Matt goes back to work. So if any of you have extra patience please send a little my way... or any advice on not losing your sanity would be appreciated.

Sorry, for being away from this blog for so long. It's been a long winter with nothing to do and nothing to write about.

Shhh….I Have a Secret

January 23, 2011

Because I am in a good mood today I decided to share a secret with you all. Did you know I had a craft blog? No? Well, now you do, so come take a peek! :) It is a lame blog because it is not one of those awesome craft blogs with a new project/post every day and a ton of tutorials… because I don’t have time/patience/creativity for all that stuff. But that blog contains some things I do make... sometimes. I just needed to show it off because Matt doesn’t really appreciate things like that though he does help me a lot with choosing fabric for a lot of projects.

Come In!

I put a button on the right for easier navigation.

She’s Two!

January 23, 2011

Jan_007

My little one just turned two. It seems like I fast forwarded through these two years.  I mean it just went too fast for my liking. And to add to this Alyssa is trying to be totally independent and it breaks my heart that my baby is not a baby anymore. This girl brings so much joy into our lives. She’s a crazy one for sure, but I wouldn’t change a thing about her.

So, if you find a way to stop time for a while let me know because I would do it in a second.
