Let's go fly a kite...

75 degrees in December? That's Georgia for you! So, we went outside, played in the leaves, played on the playset, blew bubbles, and then decided it was windy enough to fly a kite. Down to the clubhouse we went, and Nathan and Josh had tons of fun getting the kite up in the air. It was almost too gusty to get the kite up, but master kite flyer Joshua was able to keep it up for quite a while. David had fun too, saying "kite up!"

Gingerbread house decorating

Nathan had a great time with the gingerbread house kit I got. He very carefully decorated it (with David attempting to help) and of course had lots of fun eating it!

David is 21 months old!

Ok, so he was 21 months old two weeks ago, but getting pictures of David is getting difficult. He wants to play, not pose for a picture, and he holds out his hand, says "stop. put away!" when he sees that I have the camera out. So it took me multiple days to get pictures! As you may have guessed from the above sentence, David's language skills are exploding. He repeats most everything we say (yikes) and tells us what he wants in 2-3 word sentences. And he is quite insistent in what he wants. I like to call it the "pint-size dictator" stage. He loves looking at picture board books (he has a favorite few that he wants to read, sitting in my lap, on the couch - and I have to sit cross legged, or else!), watching the trash truck every Wednesday (trash truck coming!), and investigating how everything around him works. He is a very busy boy!

David really likes playing with Nathan's potato head. He is very careful to have all the proper body parts in the right spots, and loves hats.

This is David's "trash truck", that he pushes around saying "trash truck coming!"

The modern day version of a rocking horse: the bounce and spin zebra:

Who me? Trouble? You should be glad I'm playing in the tub and not the toilet!

David likes to sit in the sink while brushing his teeth. I took this picture specifically because I think my parents have a similar one of me (or maybe Becky) at this age:]

And of course David loves his brother!

Grovetown Christmas Parade

This was our first year attending the Grovetown Christmas Parade. It was small, with lots of 4H, Cub & Girl Scout, and other community floats, but all the floats were tossing out candy, so Nathan didn't even notice ;) David's favorite part was the Grovetown High marching band, and both kids covered their ears when the fire trucks went by with their sirens. Santa was riding on the last fire truck, and Nathan collected quite a bag of candy to enjoy this week!

Go-Carts! That looks like fun :)

David wasn't sure what to make of all this:

Rhythmic gymnastics

Nathan's tumbling teacher is back! Miss Kiersten hurt her back two months ago, and Nathan had a sub for his class for quite a while. He apparently does not adjust well to teacher changes, because he was extremely grouchy and "floppy" (meaning he didn't want to do anything) the entire time. We are very happy that she has returned and that Nathan is back to his normal, happy, silly self in class. Today they got to try out some rhythmic gymnastics, which Nathan thought was extremely fun :)

Hula Hoop!

Using the ball is pretty good exercise!

Art museum with Aunt Becky

Becky took the kids to the art museum since I had an unavoidable appointment that morning. They looked at collages and made their very own Christmas collage. The boys did great with their aunty (David included, the horrible teething period seems to be passing), and aunty had lots of fun too! This is the second time they have used boards for painting & pasting, and I have no idea how to hang them up in the playroom, since they are too heavy for sticky tack. Hmm.

Story time before the craft:

Nathan was very precise and careful with his project:

Playing in the leaves

Nathan really wanted to play in the leaves last week, so we all headed outside with a rake to enjoy the last warm days of the fall. I raked up several piles of leaves, and the kids went to town jumping and burying themselves, me and even Nathan's teddy bear.

David really loved the leaves this year!

Ahhh! It's alive!

Nathan thought it would be fun to bury me in the leaves too:

And of course we couldn't forget Baby Minnie:

Lights of the South

While Papa and Nana were here, we all made the short trip over to see Lights of the South, a huge Christmas light display. We went on the hayride around the place to see all of the lights, Nathan got to see Santa, take a mini train ride, and play in the kids area, we took lots of pictures, and roasted marshmallows over a large fire. We all had lots of fun!

On the hayride:

It was really tough to get pictures of Christmas lights in the dark on a hayride, even for my dad's camera! Here is one that turned out:

Thanksgiving with Papa and Nana

Papa and Nana came to visit us for Thanksgiving! Nathan had tons and tons of fun, David decided to work on teething and clung to me the entire time. We did huge amounts of cooking but still had time to hang out and have fun.
