New Orleans anniversary trip

For the second half of Spring Break, Josh and I went to New Orleans to celebrate our ten year anniversary (four months late, but it's the thought that counts!)  The French Quarter Festival was going on that weekend, so we spent the entire time wandering throughout the French Quarter listening to various jazz, blues, etc. music on multiple stages and looking for gluten free food for Josh to eat.  (For those that don't know yet, Josh has recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and is therefore now gluten free for life.)  Our favorite part was probably the parade on Friday morning, in which random people threw beads at us and put feathers in my hair, but we also had fun touring the cathedral, walking along the Mississippi River, seeing the local touristy artists, and just sitting down and listening to the music.  It was a great trip and a wonderful Spring Break :)

Zoo trip over Spring Break

For Spring Break this year, Becky and I exchanged childcare duties.  We looked after Hannah for the first half of the week, and she looked after Nathan and David for the second half of the week.  That way we both got to take short vacations with our hubbies :).  During the first half of the week while I had Hannah, I decided to get out of the house and take all the kids to the zoo.  Crazy, you say?  Well, we were supposed to go with friends of ours, but they got sick, and David begged to go anyway, so I loaded up the diaper bag and jogging stroller and away we went.  The trip went amazingly well, despite a small meltdown by David at lunchtime over whether he would eat a hot dog or a pb&j sandwich.  The boys fed the birds and the giraffes, and Hannah had a good time looking at everything!

The penguins were pretty neat too!

Apparently it is impossible to get both kids to both look at the camera and smile
