School updates

And we're off!  We began the school year with two weeks of half days - just math and language arts - to start getting into routine and getting used to the amount of work that needs to be done this year.  Nathan is having a little trouble adjusting to the larger amount of writing that he needs to do for 4th grade, but he is making good progress.  David loves math, and we are working on building confidence and fluency in his reading.

This week we start our first full week of school, with our first day of co-op on Thursday.  The boys were super excited to start science today with an introduction to human anatomy and physiology, and we kicked off our history study by learning the seven days of Creation followed by an explanation of what history is and how everyone has a history.  Nathan and David both did a small project last night interviewing a family member to find out more about their history.  More projects to come this week include building an edible cell for science, and excavating a dinosaur model for history!

I've also included pictures of the avatar project.  Week 1 the boys unlocked faces and clothes for their avatar, and week 2 they unlocked a background.  This week they get to choose a pet!

More baby Avila pictures!  We are so loving having our cute sweet baby around (except when she cries and we don't know why ;) ).  She is scooting along on her tummy quite efficiently these days - Nathan and David have to keep their schoolwork off the floor now or she will rip the pages!  She enjoys her exersaucer, playing with her brothers, and just generally moving around and grabbing everything within reach.  I have tried giving her a cracker or two for finger food, but she is not really sure about this.
