An Apology Post!

Hi friends and family! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with loved ones! Chris and I want to apologize for the lack of updating our blog - I know many of you have been waiting on new posts and pics. I've posted a ton of fun things just tonight... so take a look and get "up to date" with the Potins! **Be sure to scroll down to "older posts" in order to see everything!**

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

How we now spend our days/nights...

Who cares there's a new baby in the house when there's a new Wii in the house?!?! hahaha
JUST KIDDING!!!

(Play while you can now, Chris... just wait until Jobi gets his hand on the controller and nunchuk!)

The Tradition Lives On...

Tell me... what could be greater than the annual "24 hours of A Christmas Story"??? He is his father's son!

"Are We Done Yet???"

Christmas Fun

We had terrific Christmases with both the James and Potin families. It was a ball celebrating with the newest addition to the family! Jobi got so many great things from Nana and Papa and Mumsie and Pop, as well as from all the aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, and cousins!! Oh and let's not forget SANTA! ;-)

WOO HOO! Nana and Papa starting Jobi out right! haha

Jobi says "thanks Mumsie!" for making my beautiful stocking

Jobi is certainly Daddy's "#1!" Thanks Pop for the jersey - you know it was the perfect gift!

Thanks to all our loved ones for a wonderful holiday - it was the best. Our family hopes everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and our best wishes for 2008!

Shutterfly - a great gift!!

As a special Christmas present for the grandparents, Chris made gift books on shutterfly.com - a book all about JOBI, of course! They were ecstatic. The books look amazing... a wonderful way to capture the "beginning" of his life. He'll enjoy and appreciate having this piece of memorabilia when he gets older. He'll have no doubt how much he is loved, that's for sure!! Thanks Daddy for taking the time and effort to record these special moments.

BOWL GAME TIME!

Jobi was all decked out in game attire to watch Southern Miss battle Cincy in the Papa Johns.com Bowl with his Daddy. Either Jobi was disappointed that USM was losing or sad that it was Jeff Bower's last game... maybe a combination of the two. Anywho, I'm certain he enjoyed sitting in his brand new kids' Southern Miss chair! A pint-size, exact replica of his Daddy's.

Meeting new friends!

Jobi met some new friends and family over the holidays! He actually met TWO Addisons - well actually 1 "Addison" and 1 "Addyson" (baby cousin!)

Jobi and friend, Addison Shaw - mommy's friend and co-worker, Marlena's, baby girl

Jobi and Addyson enjoyed meeting for the first time! Daddy and Aunt Linda assisted in the "introduction" :-) They'll love being close to the same age! We just hate that cousin Addy lives far away in Texas.
2 week checkup at Pediatrician - first "official" doctor visit - Dr. Burks says Jobi has great lungs! (we had figured that out already) :-) Everything checked out GREAT! He was up to his birth weight plus a pound! He weighed in at 8 lbs 2 oz. We're convinced now he's probably at least 10 lbs or greater... he eats all the time!

Here are some Christmas snapshots we posed underneath the Christmas tree. It was hard work getting Jobi's teddy bear to hold him up! Our little "Santa Baby" was the best Christmas present we could have asked for! I couldn't imagine a better gift...
Sleepy Time! (or at least trying to sleep!)

Sorry State fans... here's another proud Southern Miss POTIN!

His daddy posed this pic if you didn't guess. He thinks it's absolutely hilarious. I have no words...

More pics

Here's Jobi - ready for his first day out on the town... Christmas tree shopping! Of course, we didn't stay out for long at all but it was nice to get out of the house and into some fresh air. Especially during the Christmas season! (even though it was about 75 degrees) And here's a pic of him sporting just one of his many cute Christmas outfits!

Playing with one of my favorite toys "Mr. Turtle" and sleeping in one of my favorite places... Daddy's chest :-)

A "Catch Up" Post

SORRY! We've been asked by so many of you when exactly there would be an updated blog post. We've had the best of intentions, I swear... it's just... well, you know. A now 4 week old baby - I don't know where the time has gone! The days turn into weeks that turn into months and so on and so forth. You fellow parents know exactly what I'm talking about.
Well I (Jean Anne) have been informed by my husband that he had gotten the blog up to the point of Jobi's birth and now it's my turn to take over. So, I apologize. I will try to do better with keeping it up to date.
Here are some pics of the last few weeks - hope you enjoy! (Just a little update - Jobi will be FIVE weeks old New Year's Day! Around the Potin home, we don't talk about how with the blink of an eye the time is gone, rather we just enjoy every single minute we have with our little man!)

1) Finally HOME!

2) 2 day weight check - first time in the Pediatrician's office. Not happy. Jobi weighed 8 lbs 1 oz at birth. When we went home from the hospital he was down to 7 lbs 4 oz. At this weight check, he weighed 7 lbs 10 oz. By the 2 week checkup, we were shooting for being back up to at least birth weight. For those of you who didn't know, I used to work at this doctor's office. It was SO weird being on the "other side!"

3) First time in his swing/bouncy seat - not loving it right now but we think he'll grow to like it!

1st bath - you'd think we were torturing him! just look at that poor pitiful face! we hope he'll also soon grow to love this (let's hope so!) oh the price we pay for being clean!

What a Week!

Wow! Is all I can say. I am truly full. I know tons of people told us your life is about to change. It is so true...for the better. Our little man is a true blessing. He and Mommy are doing extremely well. We stayed in the hospital until Friday to let Jean Anne get her feet under her a little more. It was a very emotional day for us. Now at home, his feeding is going very well. He eats about every 3 hours and sleeps most of the rest. Jean Anne is getting around better and better. She can actually sleep in our bed now. We spent the first couple of nights on the recliner and couch respectively because she couldn't climb into bed. Well, here are a few photos from our first week. Sorry it took so long to post them. Been a little busy!

Welcome Joseph "Jobi" Bishop Potin!

Jobi arrived Tuesday, November 27th at 12:40p.m. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 inches long. His arrival came as a bit of a surprise. About 6 hours into induction, Jean Anne was taken in for a C-section. Mommy and Daddy are both doing great!

News from Hattiesburg!

There is actually news in Hattiesburg today other than Jeff Bower leaving Southern Miss (which I personally think is probably a bad move in the long run), we are heading to the hospital tonight at 7:30. Jean Anne went in for her appointment this morning. The doctor "checked" her again and determioned that she had dilated 1 cm and not 2cm as previously thought. So, long story short, LP has not dropped at all. He/she is still way up in Jean Anne's belly and obviously pretty comfortable there. The doctor did a procedure to try to speed things along that Jean Anne said was not too comfortable.
So, tonight we are headed to the hospital to get Jean Anne started on Cervadil and bright and early in the morning start the induction process. However, the doctor feels Jean Anne is going to be a pretty good candidate for C-section. We will see. Either way, end result should be LP's Birthday on November 27, 2007. Please pray for us as we go through this process. Watch your emails, we will keep everyone posted!

Final Southern Miss Game on Due Date

Yes sports fans, Jean Anne made it to the last Southern Miss home game of the season. Although it was a little chilly, she made it through the game, onto the field afterwards, and tailgated for a while after that. WHAT A FAN! I woke up this morning and checked the Hattiesburg American website photo gallery from the game. Jean Anne was in one of the photos...barely.

As for LP, he/she is moving around quite a bit these days, has hiccups very often, and must be very content inside mama's belly. My dad swears LP is going to come out with a full beard or pony tail since he/she has been in there so long. Lord, I hope not.

Jean Anne has a Dr. appointment tomorrow morning at 8:30. We both figure she will be admitted tomorrow from the doctor's office. Stay tuned!

Happy Turkey Day!

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We wish we could be with each and every one of you to celebrate. We would like to say a special "hello" to our families that are spread across the country today. "Happy Turkey Day" to those in:

Collins, MS

Conroe, TX
Byram, MS (@ Picadilly!)
Adams, TN
Ballground, GA
Atlanta, GA
Cleburne, TX
Longview, TX
Greenville, MS
Vicksburg, MS
Gulfport, MS
Mobile, AL
Auburn, NY
Seneca Falls, NY

Wow! what a list! I am attaching photos of Jean Anne modeling one of LP's "First Thanksgiving" outfits. My Dad reminds me that LP still has 11 hours or so to make a Thanksgiving arrival.

Jean Anne and the Macy's TDP

For those of you who don't know, one of Jean Anne's favorite things to do is watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Annually, she eagerly waits for the end of the parade and Santa for it is the official beginning to the Christmas Season (JA's favorite time of the year). I was praying this year we would be in the hospital welcoming LP into the world so she could always say that she watched the parade from the hospital bed with LP. That didn't quite work out but this Holiday season will surely be a blessed one. Here are a few pics from JA watching the parade.
