We made it.

Well we're finally about settled into our new place. I really underestimated how exhausting packing and moving is. Even though our house was tiny... we had so much stuff! By the end of the whole packing and loading process I was just ready to throw everything away. I'm glad we have at least 6 months until we have to do it again. I need some time to forget what it was like. Haha.

Being in an apartment is a lot different than our house. I am not used to hearing other people walk around and open and close doors. I'm also not used to feeling like I have to keep the TV volume way down after 10pm so no one complains. You know those movies where the music and/or explosions are really loud but then the dialogue is really quiet? Well lately I feel like everything is like that. So that volume button has been getting a good work out. Gary's little brother told us we need to move into a house so we can have the radio and TV on 100. I agree. But other than that, our apartment is good aside from a few bugs. It's brand new which is nice. And I have a dishwasher! I am in LOVE with my dishwasher. Sometimes I tell Gary he's not allowed to use it because I enjoy it too much. I could just kiss whoever invented that glorious machine.

Since we've been here we've been searching for jobs. We haven't had any luck so far, but I'm sure something will come. We felt really good about coming out here so I know we'll be taken care of. It's just still scary. Things probably won't work out exactly like we envision anyway because I've learned that you can't really plan anything. But everything will work out fine in the end.

Before we came out, the plates on our car were about the expire and so the other day Gary went and took care of everything which meant we had to get Missouri plates. And instead of waiting for the truck to expire we went ahead and did the truck at the same time. I knew we were getting them and I knew what Gary was doing when he took the screwdriver outside.... I also knew they were gone when he came in and put our old Utah ones on the counter (I specifically remember this because one of them was covered in bugs and I told Gary to get it off my counter). But even after all that, as soon as we got in the car to run an errand I almost started crying. It was strange. I think actually seeing them on the cars is what did it. But don't worry... I am going to hold onto my Utah drivers license for as long as possible.

But before I get carried away talking about such things I have to tell you the absolute best part about living in Missouri. Fireflies. They are the most amazing bug ever. I had never seen one until I moved here. And we have the most perfect view from our little patio that looks out into a bunch of trees and a field where we can watch them. I just love how they look like a bunch of little twinkle lights! I probably sound like a four-year old... but I don't care! I love them.

It's probably going to take a bit longer to get all the way adjusted, but we're excited for our new adventure.
