oooo, lets see....

  • aaron is rollin' over and is giving baby kisses! little chunk is 4 months old and 15 pounds!
  • randomly found the lost lost tooth (on the floor, of all places, while vacuuming last night...and yes, i have vacuumed multiple times in the last few weeks since the lost tooth was lost)...and that was fun to say.
  • poor aige has had a fever for the last couple of days. even getting up to 105°! thankfully he's eating and drinking and responding to meds. this kid has hardly been sick in his life! seriously, he's 6 and is still figuring out how to blow his nose cuzz he's never had to.
  • while watching Wild Kratts and snakes hatching, Evelyn excitedly is saying "oh! oh! oh!, they're so cute, i really want a baby kitten!" uh???
  • my little sis just had her baby boy today! can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks. he just happened to come on his big sister's birthday!
  • my parents received their mission call! A family and church history mission in Salt Lake City! any ideas for things we can do with the kids to help them understand/be involved in what grandma and grandpa are doing?
  • my nephew (the oldest one not the youngest :) ) is getting married this summer. he's only 4 years younger than myself. while this is all great and really, no need to rush on my account, but i've been looking forward (for quite a while now) to the day i can call myself a great aunt, which is something you picture with a really really old lady, not a gal in her 20s.
  • speaking of age. Aige and i were talking about age. (oh my). and how old i am. i said, "i'm 28, and on my next birthday I'll be 29". He then asks, "and then you'll be 90? :D some think so.

Here we go again!

  • To make a long story short, I opened up my new my laptop Friday night to find a big crack in the screen. I wasn't too upset because I'd had issues with it. But, apparently, we didn't purchase the right type of warranty to cover it. (insert angry feelings toward customer service girl) yeah, just about cried, since we bought it in November. Then, a wonderful manager decided he'd be nice. Had us "return" our laptops, then we purchased them again, with the right warranty (which, btw, saved us a little money because they are currently on sale). I was then able to return my broken laptop and picked out a new one. So far so good. phew.
  • My bro from Mississippi was out here on business. When he comes, the rest of my family drives over from Rexburg to see him. So I had family here this weekend. It was great! I just hope they don't catch my cold... And I might add it was the best time to have to get a new laptop. My dad and brothers speak computer, like, fluently fluently.
  • Who knew duck duck goose could still be fun as adults?
  • Lane was suppose to fly out while everyone was here. His flight got canceled! :D
  • Aaron is 4 months old! And totally trying to roll himself over...for like the last month. Love watching him grow and trying/learning to use his arms and hands as he reaches for toys.
  • No. I have not made anything yet with my silhouette. This last week I've wondered when I've found time to breath.
  • Oh, completely stoked! I'm borrowing my sister's violin. Do I play? well, kind of. I took for a couple years... like... ya know... back in middle school. So it's been a LONG while since I've even tried. Gonna re-teach myself so I can play in a stake "orchestra".
  • Sometime I'll post pictures. sometime.

i did it again

so i'm attempting to be a little more postitive (yeah, i really am cool for making up that word) :). i have all these little thoughts that i think, hmm, i should use that as a status update on fb, then i change my mind. here's to some rambling thoughts...

  • i've decided that 3 1/2 - 4 months old is a perfect age. Aaron is all chunkin' up now (75 percentile!) he's sleeping pretty good at night, he's totally coming into his own little smiley happy personality, and (best) he's not teething just yet. i can't get enough of him.
  • aige lost his second tooth. and, btw, we did find the first, which was successfully taken care of by the tooth fairy. unfortunately, tooth #2 came out sometime at night, when he was in bed, and we'd been out on a date the night before, and therefore, lost. wow, we've really got to stop loosing lost teeth.
  • i realized today that in the 7 years that lane and i have been married this is the first time we've ever had a vehicle in the shop. (something about head gaskets and lots of money and time to fix) not that we've just had amazing luck with our not so new vehicles. its i'm super lucky to have married a mechanic. back 7 years ago, i didn't realize the value of a man that plays in grease. :) and now that he's not in automotive, it's a job that he doesn't have time to do...say 12 hours or so (and he's probably happy to not be doing it, too)
  • and speaking of 7 years we just celebrated that anniversary too! i'm thinking it's time for a cruise again.
  • most exciting is i got a silhouette! i did this "I'm gonna buy it!" and then "no, i don't think i should" for like, 2 solid weeks. and then, the deal i was following was suddenly out of stock and no longer available. and i did a "dang! i should have bought it when they had it!" for some reason i decided to go to the sellers website and low and behold they did have it, and on sale, and with no shipping. a much better deal that i did not hesitate to buy. :D now just time to actually use it...which idea to do first?
  • i suffering from post-partum clothing crisis. but am having a hard time getting out to go get me some new clothes. doesn't help that this baby spits up on me faster than i can change, and really i don't have enough clothes to keep up with him. how he grows when so much ends up on him, me, the floor, him, and me again, it's a mystery.
  • and best of all, i must say i have an awesome husband, and we are surrounded by other awesome people. somehow, all the men in our ward managed to plan, prepare, decorate, and surprise all us girls with an excellent valentine's dinner party at the church on friday night. i don't know how we did not put 2 and 2 together when at playgroup we talked about how our husbands had plans for us on friday night but we didn't know what it was. i even remember saying something about it, and then it was like, whoosh and that thought disappeared. it was sweet though. when we got in the car lane had me blindfolded. pretty sure that i was the only one blindfolded, but once we were with everyone else it was obvious that i wasn't the only one feeling like i was the idiot who got suckered into being blindfolded. the meal was delicious. seriously. awesome. and so glad that lane took me. oh, and they even had a slide show of pictures from each of our wedding days. not quite sure how i didn't notice the missing picture frame...
  • and if you read all the way to the end of this post, you might as well leave a comment. i like them.

Phew! That was hard!

Man! Am I a slacker! I feel like I've lost my blogger buzz (anyone else??) I find myself wondering at why have a blog and a facebook account...so if you have a good reason, share it with me. So, here's a quick recap of the last three and a half months:
  • spent a week with Aaron in the NICU. It was tough. I was able to exclusively breastfeed him (apparently a rare thing for those babies). But that meant I was up at the hospital every three hours. It was good when I was with Aaron, and it was good when I was home with Aige and Evelyn...but the 20 minute drive to and from left me too much time to miss my kids.
  • I was a bit sad that I didn't get to have some comical pregnant Halloween costume.
  • Was a complete Nazi about letting people see Aaron for quite a while. And didn't care what anyone thought about me for it.
  • felt husbandless for the entire month of December as Lane started traveling again, plus going to classes (as he is going to be an investor in real estate). When he was in town he was at the church doing tithing settlement.
  • Aige turned 6!! We made snowmen cupcakes and surprised the kids by taking them on the North Pole Express. (like, a real train ride). It started to snow just as we were boarding. Felt like I was in the Polar Express movie. We met Santa and Mrs. Claus...they very nice.
  • I did do all the fun Christmas stuff that I wanted to like bake a gazillion types of cookies and make candy (for the first time in my life! thank you, tawna!!)
  • successfully spoiled the children for Christmas....sidenote...I'm usually quite childishly excited for Christmas morning. Having a newborn waking up to nurse really didn't help me sleep as I would lay awake excited all over again. I was relieved when the kids woke up at 5:30. (and Aige heard Santa...I heard something too, seriously.)
  • spent the week after Christmas in Rexburg. Went on a sleigh ride and had to sing jingle bells. My mom and Evelyn fell off. And it was all funny.
  • Aige lost his first tooth! then we lost it. then we found it. and still need to remember to give it to the tooth fairy before the next one comes out. (btw, what's the going rate these days for teeth?)
  • And the rest of January just flew by leaving me wondering how adding one small baby to the mixture creates so much laundry.
  • Land and I just celebrated our 7th anniversary. 7th!!!
  • Some days I think I'm going a little crazy.
  • Aaron is growing like a champ. He's well into the 75th percentile on wait. totally my little chubbalubbums. He's pretty darn cute!
  • Just realized I've said nothing of Evelyn...she's now a sunbeam! And has transitioned into primary very nicely! I've passed her in the hallway and she's pretty cute walking with the rest of her class, arms folded and a HUGE smile.
  • I've recently realized how nice it is to not be pregnant and to feel like I can actually do some things again. To not have a constant sick/tired feeling. I'm ready to get back into decorating my bare walls and to planning out the garden. Really. So glad to not be pregnant.
  • Ready for a new year. I don't know about the rest of you, but the last two have completely sucked. Harsh. I know. But between Lane breaking his back and my pregnancy, I'm ready to have a year where we don't go to the ER, or meet our deductible in the first few months of the year. Really hoping for a better year.
And for your enjoyment...a picture. I took it a couple days ago.

Told you he was cute!

Baby Aaron!!

this will be short as i want to go to bed. :) but, for those who haven't heard, we had the baby on thursday, the 21st. getting him here went fine and I feel pretty darn good. but, since he- Aaron, was 5 weeks early he's in the NICU. he weighed 6 lbs 9 oz, and is 19 inches. So not too tiny, but getting him home is a SLOW going process. I don't expect it to be for a few more days.

"I kinda liked being on the bus for a lot"

So today was Aige's first day of kindergarten! It was such a good day!! Really, it was nice to get up early and have breakfast with Lane, (OK so we've been sleepin' in since Evelyn was born). The kids were both happy to be up to wave him off to work. Aige was dressed and ready with extra time to spare before we headed off to the bus stop. He kept asking if it was time to leave yet. Really, a great start to a day. It has been fun getting him all ready for school...he had fun picking out his back pack, shoes, AND clothes. He, yes, he found this shirt at Gap by himself...(even on the sale rack). It was definitely fun to get his opinion on what clothes he liked.

Sportin' his hot wheels back pack...he really wanted one that had wheels and the handle so he could pull it around. Not sure where or when he ever saw one of those, but, the only ones we could find were small, like for a three year old to pull around. :(Can't leave out Evelyn...Waiting at the bus stop with some awesome friends! We were all so glad/relieved when we found out that Aige got into the school (for those not in the Boise area, it's a magnet school (I hear one of the best in the area), with a lottery system to get accepted. We first thought Aige didn't get a spot-tonz of people apply to get in- then in May the school called and said they had a spot for him! We were beyond excited since all our other friends who'd applied got in, and then a couple weeks ago we found out the kids were all in the same class!! Whooo-hooo! hope they don't cause too much trouble. :) While Aige was at school Evelyn and I made some chocolate chip cookies, well, A chocolate chip cookie (you'll see). This funny little girl, though, doesn't like to eat the cookies. She loves the dough, but not with the chips in it (at least she'll eat the chips by themselves). At least she's loves the dough, so we set a little chipless dough aside just for her, my "special helper", who was a little sad when she watched Aige and all the kids run to the bus.I'd seen on How Does She? this idea for the first day of school to make a big cookie. I thought it looked like a fun thing to do. I was surprised at Aige's reaction to it. He LOVED it, I guess why not? But it was obvious that it made him feel very special. He's showing a picture he made at school, too bad ya can't see it.So while he had a slice of his massive cookie, I asked him all sorts of questions about how his first day went. His thoughts on riding the bus ride (best part, right!), to recess, his teacher, friends in class, everything I could think of. Then as he answered I wrote it all down. But, I'm really glad I asked so specifically because I think it helped him to remember more than just how fun it was to ride the bus. Seriously, a great day. He loved school, I loved him being there, and even though Evelyn was a little sad, the two of them need a break from each other...I need them to have a break from each other :)
