"Watering the Ferns"

It usually starts with with the ferns, anyways

...and ends with a very bloated diaper.

Sure is a lot of fun in between though...

Mom & Dad- don't you think he looks like Vance in this next one?

Just as a bonus, we think this totally counts as a bath

(Love, LOVE this expression)

it especially counts as a bath if you've already been to the pool that day...

and you make sure not to miss cleaning your belly button.

No one even cares if you grab a drink.

I don't think it could get much better.

Well, of course the best times are when Dada breaks out the sprayer...

Cats beware.

(We're gonna need to take this with us. Everywhere.)

and, it's hard to complain when Dada shares his gatorade.

All in all, watering the ferns is pretty great.

Hope you are all staying cool and enjoying these dog days of summer!  I gotta be honest though, I'm ready for things to cool off a little bit, even if I still have about 6 weeks left of being a human furnace.  BUT then, it's newborn-land, Fall, and glasses of wine on the porch with my husband (don't remind me how sleep deprived I'll be, I'm looking forward to our little happy hours too much). :)

Baby girl's room is essentially done, post to follow... and my Mom has been working on the ADORABLE quilt- can't wait to see the finished product!

Happy end of Summer!

IPhone Pictures

Pretty great title, right? Well, it is what it is.

J sleeping in his big boy bed...excuse the quality, M and I snuck in one night to make sure J was asleep and found this. Awwwwwwww!  That is the beloved "green blanket" by the way.  J always sleeps and cuddles with it. Aunt Anna knows her blankets.

J is becoming quite confident with the spoon.  Now when he eats he absolutely must be holding one.  I shovel in bites while he dips his spoon in whatever he's eating- he manages to do quite well.  I did leave him to eat his yogurt the other day and he squeezed it in the middle and turned it up.  Oh well, I got the dishes done. ;-)

Also, see big boy haircut. Sat in a plane and everything. Gotta get that (blurry) picture off the cool pix.

With the big boy bed, big boy haircut and big boy running shoes (gotta get a picture of him in those- adorable), it's nice to see J isn't too old for his baby seat.  He drug this from the nursery into the living room. I put it in front of the tv (Curious George) and he sat down.  Granted, he sat down for all of 5 seconds.  Still.  He likes to get in and out, roll over, etc. We're not exactly having any couch potato issues...

If J has eaten and behaved well, we will occasionally give him a cookie (which M taught him the sign for- too cute). He knows exactly how to eat an oreo.

Break it apart...

Lick off the frosting (double stuffed of course)

Enjoy.

That's all we know here!  Back soon...

Without further procrastination... the beach

We spent last week in Destin with M's side of the family.

Amazingly enough, we never saw oil. Exhibit A: Day 1

We spent the first 3 days playing on the beach in the mornings.  J was a natural.

Note: J had a run in with some carpet (or possibly a duck) at VBS, some pictures you can see the scrape on his nose, some you can't.

Hydrate.

Someday we can tell Baby Girl that she was there, too...

A few of the four of us...

Dada...

is.

so.

fun.

What kind of beach trip would this be if the baby didn't get put in a sand hole?

Or play in the surf...

We took Wednesday "off" from the beach and that was the day tar balls rolled in.  When we walked down there on Thursday it was as clean as 2009.  So, while they may have caused it, at least BP is cleaning it.  For our toddler and unborn child's sake we called it quits on playing in the ocean at that point.  That's okay, J loves the pool.

I really only took my "nice" camera to the beach (or anywhere) that first morning when we headed to the beach at 7:30am.  Didn't really want to mess with it beyond that.  Which explains why we have no pictures of anyone else, and no pictures of anyone showered.  My mother-in-law got some fun shots of everyone at the pool, and I'm sure my sister-in-law, Mary Lindsey, will have a fun post coming up.  I did get some video on my iphone of M and Uncle Chris' stupendous sand castle/ball ramp.  For the kids, of course.

Thanks Momo and Popo for a great trip!!!
