Playing with Buttons!

Well you know me - sometimes when I take on an idea I can be inclined to go a little over the top ........ Well this week the theme at Through the Purple Haze Challenges is 'Button it Up'

.......... I think I met the brief don't you??????

Too many buttons????

No that can never be the case!

I'd forgotten how much I loved rummaging through my Mum's button box when I was a kid!
Playing with big bags of buttons bought back many happy memories.

The digi is Alex the Surfer from our sponsor Digi Stamps 4 Joy

I coloured him with my Copics:

Skin - E00, E11, E13, E21, E04 with R20 cheeks. ( went slightly darker than normal to give him a 'tan')

Hair - Y11, Y35, YR14

Surfboard - R24, R27, R29, R59

I made the background by using my Sky Blue, True Blue and Royal Blue Promarkers in my Blitzer (1980's version of the Tim Holtz Spritzer) to air brush the sky, using two cloud masks.

I had fun making the beach and see with the buttons.

I even tried to make waves in the sea.

I hope you like it :D

A Funky Hand Tag

The challenge over at Digi Galore this fortnight is Tags. I have a friend who's completely addicted to tags so I've had a bit of practice making them, but I decided to keep clean and simple and make a tag bookmark with Georgie Night Night from our sponsors Funky Hand.

As I was making a bookmark I kept the dimensional embellishment to a minimum so it didn't get damaged when in use.

Here's a closer view of the tag.
I decorated the edges with Distress Inks - Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserve and Picked Raspberries.
I typed the sentiment and then drew over it with Stardust Sakura Gelly Pen to give it a bit of sparkle.
I added dots of Crystal Stickles around the edges and added some pink ribbon and funky trim.

Here you can see the shimmer of the Stardust Sakura Gel Pen.

I coloured Georgie Night Night with my Copics. I'm still learning, but enjoying playing with them.

Looking forward to seeing your tags over at Digi Galore x

Annie Baking with Stone the Dog looking hopeful

I couldn't resist making another card with Annie Baking from Encino, and this time I was lucky enough to get a chance to play with Stone - a rather stunning dog that will be released soon at Encino Stamps.

Here's Stone - I need to practice colouring dog hair, but this wasn't a bad first attempt.

and here's Annie

I'm still learning how to colour with my Copics, but getting there gradually.

First play with my Copics!

I've been a very very lucky girl and was offered a mega bunch of Copics at such an amazing price that I couldn't refuse! Don't get me wrong I love my Promarkers to bits, but this was an offer I couldn't refuse.

This is my first card made with Copic colouring. I did a little bit of hair and skin practice and then dived straight into this card for this week's Through the Purple Haze Challenge. The Challenge is to make a card that suits the song we've got on the challenge page. I chose the line 'B - You're so Beautiful' and made this card with Anna-Mae School Girl 2 from our sponsors Scrappers Delight.

The card base design is a free cut file Deep Edge Card 8 from Birds Cards. I altered it slightly to make it a square base so I had room for Anna-Mae School Girl 2.

Here's a close up of the cut detail. I threaded the ribbon through the slots and tied it in a bow.

I'm really pleased with this as my first attempt at Copic colouring.
I found they blended really easily and have small steps between the
colours in the colour family so shading is easy.

Here's a close up.

I used these Copics:

Skin - E000, E00, E11, E21, E04 with R20 Cheeks

Hair - E33, E35, E59, E49

Top - R24, R27, R29, R59

Skirt - B63, B66, B69, B79, BV29

Boots - E30, E31, E33, E35

Edging - B32

I've got some more practicing to do (oh the hardship!!! :P ), but I'm so pleased so far.

Hope you like her x

Kenny K's Krafty Krew - Something for a Male

It's challenge time over at Kenny's Krafty Krew and this time the theme is 'Something for a Male'

Rather than using one of Kenny K's sexy images (which would admittedly have made a man very happy), I decided to make a card for a young boy.

I used Victory Kid and used papers and elements from the Echo Park Scoot Digital paper pack.

I added a sentiment to the notepaper and mounted that on foam pads.
I cut out the banners and mounted them on foam pads.

I cut Victory Kid out using the Print and Cut function on my Cougar.

I coloured him with my Promarkers:

Skin - Copic E00, Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, Burnt Orange with Pastel Pink Cheeks
Hair - Tulip Yellow, Sunflower, Gold, Raw Sienna
Hat - Lime Green, Bright Green, Forest Green
T-Shirt - Bright Orange, Orange, Burnt Orange
Trousers - Sky Blue, True Blue, Royal Blue
Shoes - Ice Grey 3, 4, 5

I really hope you like him.

Looking forward to seeing your entries at Kenny K's Krafty Krew :D

Annie's Baking

It's been a few weeks since I played with any Encino Stamps and I've been missing them, so I decided to make a card with Annie Baking.

I used a paper and elements from the Carta Bella Homemade With Love Digi Kit.
I inked the edges of the paper, and cut the embellishments out and mounted them on foam pads.

I even added a recipe to the recipe card - yes you can see just how bad my handwriting is!

I coloured Annie Baking with my Promarkers and mounted her on foam pads.

I hope you like her. Those chocolate chip cookies look good enough to eat!

Use Kraft

The challenge this week over at Digi Galore is to use Kraft card.
I don't often use Kraft card but it was nice to have a challenge to play with it.

Our sponsor this week is Art By Mi Ran and I used Girl with Dove paired with Cute Window to create this card.

I printed the card backing with the Stampin Up Woodgrain  Digi Stamp and typed my own sentiment.
I used distress inks to blend around the outside and to create a dark area behind the window opening.

Then I printed the Cute Window on the Kraft card and added 'wood grain' flicks with my Promarkers. I cut out the window, and the hearts in the shutters.

I coloured Girl with Dove with Promarkers and cut her out and mounted her so she was peeking out through the window releasing the dove to fly free.

I mounted the whole window on extra thick foam pads to give lots of dimension.

I really hope you like her x

Anything but a Square

This week over at Through the Purple Haze the challenge is Anything But a Square.

I seem to be in a phase of making square cards at the moment so it was nice to be made to do something different. We had two lovely sponsors - Hannah Lynn and Crafty Sentiment Designs and I had great fun playing with the images.

Firstly here's what I created with Expressions Study 4 from Hannah Lynn

I designed the card base in Inkscape and cut it out on my Cougar from Thyme Graphics.
I embossed them with silver WOW embossing powder and then added Crystal Stickles glitter glue. They really sparkle, but it's nearly impossible to capture on camera.

The Sentiment is from the Silhouette store. I used it as a print and cut
and embossed the edges with Wow Silver Embossing powder.

Expressions Study 4 was a dream to colour. I tried to put the techniques I'm learning in the Kit and Clowder Skin and Hair class into practice. I've got a way to go, but I'm pleased with how she turned out.

I coloured her using my Promarkers:

Skin - Copic E00, Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, Burnt Orange with Pastel Pink Cheeks
Hair - Buttercup, Tulip Yellow, Sunflower, Gold, Raw Sienna
Eyes - Sky Blue, True Blue, Royal Blue

My second creation used Primrose Babysitting from Crafty Sentiment Designs

I used my Cougar to cut a scalloped circle base and had someone special in mind when I made this.

I coloured her with my Promarkers

Skin - Copic E00, Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, Burnt Orange
Hair - Cinnamon, Henna, Cocoa, Chestnut
Dress, Bows, Shoes - Orchid, Purple, Aubergine

Cot - Tan, Cinnamon, Cocoa
Bedding - Yellow, Sunfllower, Gold
Blanket - Lilac, Amethyst, Purple, Buttercup, Tulip Yellow

I had great fun making these shaped cards. I hope you like them, and I'd love to see your creations over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges x

Anything Goes with a Femme Fatale Twist - Kenny K's Krafty Krew

Well here we are! My first project as part of Kenny K's Krafty Krew!

I've always been a fan of Kenny K's images, so to be a Core 4 member of the DT is a dream come true :D

Kenny K's Krafty Krew challenges is always Anything Goes with a Kenny K image,
and has an optional twist.

This time it's Femme Fatale!

I used the rather saucy Veronica Vamp and teamed her with this Heart Accordion Card from the Silhouette Store. I love the delicate lattice effect of the design.

I wanted to make something simple to the image stands out, but elegant and provocative too.

When it's closed you can see her peeking through.

Then when you open it up you still get to see the lattice effect.

I coloured Veronica Vamp with a combination of Promarkers and Copics

Skin - Copic E00, Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, Burnt Orange with Copic R20 Cheeks
Hair - Tulip Yellow, Sunflower, Gold, Raw Sienna
Shoes & Corset - Ice Grey 4, 5 and Black
Rose - Red, Berry Red, Cardinal Red, Burgundy, Lush Green, Forest Green

The sentiment is a freebie from Gingers House

I really hope you like what I made and look forward to seeing your entries over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew x
