Anything Goes at Through the Purple Haze

It's challenge time at Through the Purple Haze Challenges and the theme is Anything Goes.
We're sponsored by Lacy Sunshine.

I decided to go with a slightly autumnal theme as it suited Emmilou Boo's Carmel Apples
and it's begun to feel slightly autumnal here the last few weeks.

The paper and sentiment were a freebie in this months Quick Cards Made Easy
(the first time I've actually been organised enough to use freebie papers!)

The circle is beautiful metallic copper. It doesn't show well in the top photo, but does a little better here.

I added a little glossy accents to the toffee on the apples so it looks nearly good enough to eat.

I coloured her with my copics but I can't find the safe and sensible place that I wrote the colours down.

Looking forward to seeing your entries at Through the Purple Haze Challenges.

Creative Blog Hop

I was nominated to take part in the Creative Blog hop by the wonderful Erin. I consider myself very very lucky to have Erin as a crafty friend. She's a wonderful creator and so lovely to know. Her Facebook statuses are guaranteed to brighten any day!

The Creative Blog Hop happens every Monday and hops from crafter to crafter.
Please excuse my lateness - I've had major computer issues.
We all answer the same questions and nominate 3 people to hop on to so here goes:

1 - What am I working on?

Creativity is a bit restricted at the moment due to computer issues, but I've got a notebook cover I'm making for challenge at Simply Betty Stamps and cards that I'm making for DT work.

2 - How does my work differ from others in my genre?

Hmmm I'm not sure about that. I consider myself mainly a colourist so the image tends to take centre stage in what I create. I usually keep the rest of my creation clean and simple. I love adding a bit of quirk or funny into what I make.

3 - Why do I write/ create what I do?

Simple answer to that - because I enjoy doing it!
I'm a 34 yr old who loves colouring and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I started papercrafting about 10 years ago & have never looked back. It's something that fits in with my M.E. as I can do it as and when I have the energy. It's so satisfying to start with a blank page and create something that means something to the person I give it to.

4 - How does my writing/ creative process work?

I usually start with the image (usually a digi stamp) and theme.
It's either one I've been given in one of my DT roles , or one I think will suit the person I'm making it for.
Sometimes I choose my papers and embellishments and colour the image to go with that, other times I choose what colour works with the image and go from there.
I usually design my card on the computer using Craft Artist 2 - I can play with the sizes and layout and make sure it looks how I want it to.
I often use my Black Cat Cougar Cutting machine to cut elements for the cards.
Then it's out with my colouring pens - originally Promarkers, but I've not moved to Copics - and I spend happy time colouring.

Now it's time to nominate 3 people for the Hop to hop onto. It's been so difficult to choose as I know so many amazing crafters. In the end I've chosen 3 crafters with very different skills:

I first met Sam via a crafting group in Facebook a few years ago. Since then we've become great friends and have met several times. She's an incredible crafter. I'm in awe of what she creates as it's so different to my style. Sam is also an amazing artist and draws her own digi stamps and creates wonderful logos, watermarks and business tools. Sometimes her confidence wobbles, but she really should believe in her own skills. I consider myself very lucky to be her friend and can't wait till we next meet up.

I've known Fiona through crafting Facebook groups for a few years, but have really got to know her better since joining the Through the Purple Haze design team. Fiona is co-owner of this challenge blog and helps to keep it running smoothly. Aside from this she spends a lot of her spare time creating beautiful cards for her local Children's Hospice. She creates cards to be sold in their shop, and personalised cards for families of the very poorly children in there. I often think that having a sympathy card made especially for their child must be a very touching thing for the parents at such a sad time. I'm very lucky to know Fiona.

Shoshi  - or Sue to giver her her proper name - is an incredible crafter. I met her through the forum for our Cougar cutting machines and met her when she was first getting her machine. I was meant to be giving her a demonstration about how to use it, but ended up demonstrating far more what not to do! We ended up in fits of giggles and have stayed friends ever since. Shoshi creates the most amazing artwork. Mixed media is a speciality of hers, and not a single piece of packaging that might have a crafty use can escape. She does the most amazing things with used tea bags! You've just to see them! I'm lucky enough to live close to Shoshi now, but due to us both having M.E. we don't see each other nearly as much as we'd wish.

Happy Hopping everyone x

Off to School with Kenny K

It's time for a challenge over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew and the theme is Kids.

Nice and easy with Kenny K's lovely images eh?

I decided to use the cute Book Girl to make a First day at School card
for my niece who starts Primary School this September.
I've already had a lovely time buying some of her school uniform for her.
It's lovely and exciting, but also a little scary that she's school age already!
She's a bright little button so will adore school.

I used paper and elements from the School Days Digi Kit from Lori Whitlock.
I added drop shadows in Craft Artist 2 to add dimension.
I added the sentiment using the text tool.

I coloured her with my Copics

Have a Wizard Birthday with Rick St Dennis

I had a chance to play with this cute LIL Wizard from Rick St Dennis this week.

As soon as I saw him I knew he'd make a fun Birthday card. It's nice to have an image that works for a male birthday card as I seem to have more for women.

I made the card base using the digital paper from Echo Park Paper Co  and added a white border detail.

I typed the sentiment and added a scattering of stars & magic dust using Craft Artist 2.

I coloured the stars with Sakura Tiara pens.

LIL Wizard is coloured using Copics:

Skin - E000, E00, E11, E21, E04 with Pastel Pink Cheeks
Hair - C04, C05
Robe - B66, B69, BV29
Robe Details - Y02, Y08, Y17

I hope you like him & hope you'll join in the Anything Goes Challenge at Through the Purple Haze Challenges x

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

The Digi I used is Sue with Teddy. I love her as she's so cute.

I decided to make something nice and easy so layered this card up using digital elements.
After adding a few drop shadows in Craft Artist 2 it looks like it's properly 3D.
The paper is from the digital Echo Park Scoot Paper Pack 1.

The Sentiment ifs a freebie from Gingers House.

I coloured Sue with Teddy with my Copics

Simply Betty Summerween Swap!

Happy Summerween everyone!

What's Summerween I hear you ask
.... well you may have noticed that a certain Miss Betty of Simply Betty Stamps
is a slight fan of Halloween

- hang on did I say slight?

I mean a Total and Utter Halloween Addict!

Members of the Simply Betty Facebook Fan group can take part in swaps at different times of the year and I decided to join in with this. We have a budget of $25(£15) minimum and buy crafty & other items for our swap partner, send it off, and wait for our return swap to arrive.

My swap partner was the lovely Anita and WOW did she spoil me!!!!
I mean really really spoil! The parcel was Huge! I can't wait to show you what she got me.

Firstly she made me this beautiful card with the wonderful Sand Witch Digi.

Such a beautiful card! I'll treasure having an Anita Original :D

Now I was a bit worried when I reached the first package in my parcel
.... was Anita sending me a firearm?
(I'm sure that's on the extensive banned list on Royal Mail :P
never mind all the other laws!)

But phew! No all safe!
It was this lovely Decoupaged & embellished L.

Really beautiful & extra good for helping me remember my name :P

Lol!

Now for the rest of my swap package.

There's this lovely paper pack, stamp & die cut pieces from the Do Crafts So Lovely range,
plus a chipboard album, funky shapes, ribbon & beautiful flowers.

Lovely stencils, toppers, wooden shapes & butterflies

Amazing Halloween embellishments, a wonderfully spooky stamp & gorgeous gorgeous ribbons

and a Copic paper pad, mirror card, a wooden heart, tag brads,
twine, mini alphabet stamps & some lovely bracelets!
I'm looking forward to trying the Copic pad to see how it compares to my usual Rymans Smooth White card

The bracelets are gorgeous! I love the one made with flower buttons and that one on the far right
has such an amazing lustre it could keep me fascinated for hours.
By chance they coordinated beautifully with the dress I was wearing when I opened my parcel.
That's exceptionally talented to know what I'd be wearing!

See! I told you I was an amazingly lucky girl!
Thank you so so much Anita (and Charlie who I know helped choose some of the things).
I feel very lucky & very loved & am looking forward to playing with everything.

I hope you liked your swap as much as I did.

Music with Kenny K

This has got to be the speediest card I've ever made! Idea to made in about an hour! Not something I ever normally mange, but for once it seems to have worked ok.

I used Tracey Chapstamp from Kenny K

I layered her on top of a piece of digi paper from Bo Bunny's Block Party Paper Pack 2
It had just the feel I wanted & happened to fit perfectly :D
It's actually a vibrant red, but shows as more faded in the photo.

The sentiment is from the Kenny K Father's Day sentiments which were a freebie recently.
I've added a touch of glitter glue on the top edge of the ROCK, but it doesn't show in the photo.

I coloured Tracey Chapstamp with my Copics

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E23, E25, E27, E29, E49
Top - G14, G16, G28
Jeans - BV13, BV17, BV08
Shoes - G99, W7, W9
Guitar - E71, E74, E77, E79

I hope you like her. If you own any Kenny K stamps why not pop over to Kenny K's Krafty Krew? The challenge is always Anything Goes and this time the optional twist is 'Music'

If you don't own any Kenny K images Why Not!!!!???? :P
I't something you need to rectify straight away :P
