The REAL "Magic Mikes" in my life!

Okay, so no judging please but I did in fact want to see Magic Mike and did see Magic Mike.  It was not all that great to be honest minus the fact that (lets face it people), the men in the previews were quite attractive gorgeous.  Looking back do I think I should have seen it???? No--but I did so I am moving on.  It was honestly just as bad as any other rated R movie out there that I have seen (which still doesn't make it right and in case you are wondering, no I am not trying to justify why I saw it).  The media made the movie look like it was worse than every other rated R movie out there which was not the case.  If you have seen movies with bad language and with sexual innuendos in it then you have basically seen Magic Mike.  If you haven't good for you and with all sincerity, I applaud you and admire you.

Moving on...Since watching Magic Mike I have had the chance to read a couple of blogs about the Magic Mike debate and I like the post that my best friend, Hannah wrote recently.  (Click here to read Hannah's blog.)  After reading her blog, I began to think about the real "Magic Mikes" and the many that I know in my life to include the following (in no particular order...except for the hubs being number one of course ha!:

  • My husband Josh: He is the most amazing man.  He is a man who loves his family dearly and will do anything and everything to make sure all of our needs are met.  He works so hard so that I can stay at home with Liam and I am so grateful.  He is an incredible father--I cannot tell you how many times I have gotten choked up watching Josh interact with Liam.  As someone who did not have a loving father growing up, it just about brings me to tears every time I hear Josh say, "I love you, son." It truly warms my heart.

I love how Josh calls Liam his "buddy"...and that he is. Liam absolutely adores him and I love to see his face when Josh walks in the room.  I love watching him read books to Liam, give him a bath, "rough house" with him, and cuddle him.

I also admire Josh's bravery and dedication to his country (he served a year in Afghanistan in 2010).  He is my hero.

I am so thankful for that day/moment when I fell in love with Josh!   I fall more and more in love with him everyday and am so thankful that God blessed me with such an amazing husband and father.

  • My granddaddy Weaver: He demonstrated what a father looks like, how he is to treat his wife, and how he is to take care of his family.  My grandaddy is so special to me and one of the best days of my life was when he walked me down the aisle.

  • My brother-in-law Bryan:  He is such a loving father to four amazing children and is an incredible husband to my sister, Heather.  He works hard so that Heather can stay home and so that all of their needs are met.  (He is a handyman too...which is bonus!)  Also, when I decided to give myself to the Lord, Bryan was the person I wanted to baptize me.  That was a very special day that I will never forget.

  • My brother-in-law Randy: He is a wonderful father to his son Asher and loves and adores my sister, Hannah.  He is a fun dad!  He loves playing with Asher and teaching him how to throw a ball (which 10 month old Asher can do now!) He is a firefighter and puts his life on the line to save others.  He is a brave man and a hero to me and many others.

  • Mac Lucero (my bf Hannah's husband): He is a great dad and husband who works hard so that Hannah can stay home with Elias.  I love seeing him rough house with him and read him books. Elias adores him.  Also, Mac comes from a rough family but despite all that he has gone through in his life, he has chosen to defeat his upbringing, follow Christ, and be an example to his family...which says a lot about his character. Mac is also a Marine and served in Iraq several years ago.  He is a brave man and a hero to me and many others.

  • My brother-in-law Kurt: Many days he works long hours so that he can provide for his family and so that Kara can stay home with the kids.  He absolutely adores his children and I love seeing their faces when their daddy gets home from working very long hours.  One of things I love about Kurt is that he often takes the kids to Waffle House on Saturdays for breakfast...those little ones will always remember that about their dad!

  • My father-in-law Phil: He is one of the most loving men I know and will do anything for his family as he puts them first. What a lot of people don't know about my FIL is that he has been a caretaker his whole life.  He took care of his alcoholic father, his own FIL and MIL, and still takes care of my beautiful sister-in-law who has CP.  He is always putting others before himself.

  • Ryan Key (my bf Kelly's husband): He is a fun, funny, silly, father and husband who is in love with his family.  He has had some ups and downs with jobs and he currently works two jobs to provide for his family.  He always has a positive attitude and sees the good in all things!

I just have one last thing to say (yes, this was lengthy).  I could go on and on about each of these men but the most important thing above all is that all of them are godly men who love the Lord with all their hearts and who love their families to pieces.  These my friends...are the real Magic Mikes.

Josh is home, new home, and a baby to come....

Josh came home August 15

Me, Josh, and his family the day he came home

We are now in the process of moving in to our new home and a baby that is due September 21.  We have much to finish in the new home so we are hoping our little man will wait till his due date or thereafter so we can finish everything.  :-) We'll take pics as soon we get settled in.  :-)  Thank you to all who prayed for Josh while he was gone.  He is so thankful to be home safe and sound on American soil.

Liam's Nursery and Nursery Projects

Seeing that right now I am currently living in Atlanta, and when Josh comes home August 15 we will be moving back to DC to a new home August 25, it has been somewhat difficult to piece together what I want for Liam's nursery. I am very much a visual person so not being able to set up my crib and dresser/changing table has been tough. I have worked through it because I have no choice (obviously) and hopefully I will not be disappointed once it is all put together.

For Liam's bedding I went simple thinking I could do more things to the room to spice things up. I got his Harper navy blue and white bedding from Pottery barn but I mismatched the skirt so it wouldn't be SO blah.

Bed Skirt
Navy blue bedding and some sheets
I picked out (the bedding allows for
pretty much any kind of sheets you
want, which I love)

I also found this nice chair (with an ottoman) which looks white, but is light blue and white striped. I can throw a red throw or or maybe yellow throw over it to spice it up a bit and tie it into my bedding.

I have been looking for a bookshelf for Liam's room--I love books and I definitely wanted him to have a bookshelf. Josh's mom said I could have Josh's old yellow book case so I was thrilled. Then, I saw this little stool in the attic that was yellow and had Raggedy Anne on it and I wanted that too. (Of course I wanted to sand and re-paint them both so that is what I have been working on. I think it is so neat that Liam will have something that Josh had in his baby room.

but I will post when done).

(I love it!)

My mother--in-law knew I wanted to hang planes from the ceiling and I saw these at Pottery Barn kids and she bought these for his room (which was very generous).

I also saw a pic of this alphabet collage online and fell in love. My sister Leigh Anne and I spend this almost an entire day looking for all 26 letters (or what could resemble or be made into a letter). We could not believe we found all 26. She and I painted about 3/4 of them but I think they turned out super cute!

Finally, my sister painted this cute sign for Liam's room (maybe over his bookshelf or over his closet...we shall see. I think it's fun and again, I love books and reading. Leigh Anne still has to do one more coat but I still think it looks adorable.

Well, that is all for now folks. Geeze, long post. I can't wait to see what his room will look like. I hope it is what I am picturing in my head. :-) Oh well, Liam won't know the difference. Ha!

*Once I finish the stool I will post those pics! :-)
