Three Months Old

Most new parents sigh, nod and wonder where the time went as each month of their baby's first year passes. But not me. Honestly, I can't believe that Camryn is only three months old. Seems like we've had her around for much longer. And we wouldn't trade her for anything!

Most days, Cami is all smiles...

and coos and giggles.

She has daddy wrapped around her little finger...

But when it comes to masculine affection, daddy must out-battle Brock for Cami's attention...
(be still my heart. I love this shot!)

Cami loves the following: attention, tickles, saying "gooo," napping in her swing, swatting at the toys on her activity gym, when daddy says "scooby dooby doo" in his scooby voice, chewing on her hands, watching her crib mobile, ceiling fans, jewelry shopping, "sitting up," spitting up and momma.

Many people comment on Cami's chunkaliciousness. Clearly all her chub goes to one of two places: her chin and her thighs. Just like her mom. Sorry kiddo.

Cami doesn't care for: her car seat, the jogger, having her nails clipped, being outdoors and having a stuffy nose!

Having grown tired of her bouncer and constantly "reclining," Camryn learned a new trick:
to throw one's body forward. EEEEEEEK! The bouncer no longer seemed safe given her projectile performance, so we upgraded to a Bumbo seat...
She loves that she can now sit up and play with Brock...

Bedtime is a real tug-of-war around here.
Mom tries for 7ish. Camryn finally concedes the fight at 9ish.
Every night.

It's almost 9ish...

Dressing a girl is 1000x more fun than dressing a boy (sorry Brock).
Look what adorable, fabulous thing momma ordered for Cami from Zulily:

Camryn is now wearing 6-9 month clothes and already weighs around 16 pounds!
Just the other day, I was talking to a woman at church who was holding her four month old son. She guessed Cami to be at least 5 months old!! Whoa baby!
My little lady is part little giant....I think.
And getting cuter and cuter every day!

Can we keep him?

Daddy & Brock: Look what we found at the park today! Can we keep him?

Mom: Um.................................NO!!!!

Ew! All things reptilian give me the heebie jeebies. Even ugly, yet harmless frogs!
And besides, that poor thing was abducted from his happy, little pond by my boys and brought home to live in a 5-gallon bucket on the front porch.
Fortunately, the kidnapped frog figured out how to escape his 5-gallon prison bucket and did so expeditiously! I am relieved to add that we have neither heard nor seen our hoppity captive since his departure. Whew!!

Momma's New Wheels

There is a new addition to the See family entourage.
We call it Big Red...

Last year, just one week shy of finding out that we were pregnant, I started the Couch to 5k running program at the gym. And then those two magic lines appeared on the home pregnancy test and I have not exercised since, due in large part to doctor's orders. Tragically, it shows. *jiggle, jiggle*
While shopping for baby gear, I intentionally omitted a stroller because I knew that a jogger would best serve my resolve to run and get my gelatinous, post-partum self into shape. I spent months researching joggers and comparison shopping before deciding on the Schwinn Turismo (and not just because it matches Camryn's car seat--that's just a bonus!). So, I ordered it online and waited impatiently for the big brown truck to arrive.
As rotten luck would have it, we must have been the last house on the UPS route that day, because our new jogger arrived late one evening. Unfortunately, no sooner had Clarke assembled our new jogger, when Mother Nature unleashed her wicked sense of humor upon the valley.
Snow. Rain. Wind. And COLDness.
Brrrrrrr!

FINALLY, after weeks of waiting for some semblance of decent weather,
we were able to take Big Red for a test drive.
It was Camryn's first walk!
She was less than thrilled...

In truth, she barely tolerated it!

Big Red, like any quality jogger, is enormous and cumbersome to pack around (it only fits in the trunk of my car if I take off the two back wheels-which seriously takes less than 5 seconds); but it's gorgeously, spectacularly red and easy to maneuver! Cami's car seat fits inside snugly, which, more than likely, contributes to her strong dislike of the new "ride." That girl HATES her car seat with the passion of a thousand burning suns!!

Weather and car seat aversions aside, the plan for this spring is to go gallivanting about the countryside with Big Red and my kiddos, soaking up sunshine and fresh air and farming endorphins. Perhaps, if I'm very disciplined, I'll even shed some poundage and get a tan in the process.

Any Given Sunday

It was just an ordinary Sunday.
No marked event or specific occasion inspired us to pull out the camera.
But we did.
And this is what it looked like.

Big Brothers and Little Sisters

Today, while perusing Pinterest, I found this:

With an adoring and protective, big brother like Brock, Cami will never have to worry about some miscreant breaking her heart and getting away with it.

And that makes this momma proud.

A Week in the Life

When the clock reads 9:00 pm at my house, you will find a soundly sleeping, six year old, precariously spread out on his blue and orange Boise State sheets and a 2-month old baby, swaddled tightly and madly sucking on a pacifier while snoozing in her crib.
And when the clock reads 9:00 pm, you find Clarke and myself, each occupying one of the family room couches, zombified as the tv screen flickers before us; at best one of us is still awake to catch the end of whatever show we started watching as soon as the kiddos were tucked in.
This is because at 9:00 pm, Clarke and I collapse in exhaustion, having completed, nay, survived, another parental marathon of work, school, cooking, cleaning, appointments, errands, football practice and keeping up with one energetic little boy and one high maintenance baby girl.

So, here is a *glimpse* into a week in the life of us.

One afternoon, UPS delivered an enormous box filled with more baby gear to entertain Camryn. Brock tossed aside Cami's new toys and commandeered the box for himself. He also commandeered my laptop. I found him with a with a bowl of pretzels while watching Phinaes and Ferb, courtesy of Netflix...

Clarke was supposed to be getting Cami dressed for the day, but they were having too much fun playing.
Now that she smiles and jabbers, it's easy to forget everything and just play with the baby.

Snack time! Brock demonstrated a new way to enjoy yogurt.
With a straw! Who knew?

After work, one night, Clarke thought it would be funny to try his work boots on our daughter.

One morning, Brock woke up with what we thought might be fifths disease.
Turns out it was a severe allergic reaction (they were hives) and they spread all over his body. Sadly, they did not react to Benedryl, so his doctor put him on steroids to help clear up the hives. One week later, he is hive-free. We still have NO idea what caused them.

I hope my kids always get along this well.
But, I'm not holding my breath.

Clarke decided to take Brock to the scout Klondike Camp in Cascade, ID. This meant one thing: Brock needed a sub-zero sleeping bag and where better to look than Cabellas?
But when it came to buying, we found that Sportsman's Warehouse had much better prices.

Yikes! A grizzly! Brock loved the animals.

It was a windy day outside and a morning of running errands found me trying warm hats on Cami.

She tolerated the kitty hat...

and then she liked the kitty hat...

and then she loved the kitty hat...

and then she didn't.

We took our kids to see Oma (great grandma See) so that Oma could meet Camryn for the first time.
Sadly, Oma struggles with her memory and has trouble recognizing even her family. Nevertheless, it was important to us  that she meet her newest great granddaughter. Even though she clearly had no idea who we were, she kept telling us how much she loved us. I can't imagine how lonely it must be to not recognize the world or the people around you. I'm really glad that we have these pictures; a piece of family history. We hope to visit her again soon.

There is no question who rules the roost at our house. Clarke works hard to get a smile out of Miss Camryn, who sits quite queenly on our bed.

And in her benevolence towards the family serfs, namely Clarke and myself, she graciously bestowed upon us a slight grin.

What a week!
