Sold!

Do we owe our luck to my favorite vase filled with fresh chrysanthemums or the crumpled, hairy spider corpse lying on my kitchen counter top that I forgot to wipe away as we were leaving the house (Death by a flip flop! An apropos demise for a horrid arachnid!!)? Could be either. Could be both. Could be neither.

After two weeks on the market and only seven showings, we were naively concerned because our house wasn't selling--not even a nibble from any of the prospective buyers. And, like any first time home sellers, we were baffled. After all, why wouldn't anyone want to buy our amazing, little house??

In anticipation of our next showing, I brought out the "big guns" and splurged on flowers at Costco. Then I simmered lemons, vanilla and rosemary on my stove top all day long.

On the evening of the eighth showing, we once again scrubbed our house to nothing short of *sparkling* and then loaded up the family and headed to the park. After about 30 minutes, we drove back home, expecting that the realtor and her clients had left. They had not. So we ran a few minor errands and returned home 30 minutes later. The realtor and her clients were still there! What could they possibly be doing in our house for this long? We meandered through the neighborhood and toured a home being built before returning home 30 minutes later. Nobody was there. Whew! We put our overly-tired kids to bed and at 9:30 received a call from our realtor. The couple who had viewed our home earlier that evening wanted to buy it! We were thrilled! The offer was for near-asking price and considering that we were just hours away from lowering the price, this was awesome news!

When are we moving? End of May. Less than three weeks. Gulp.
Where are we moving? We will be wishing the summer away in a basement apartment.
When will our gorgeous, new house be ready? End of August.

Our little house has been a cozy place to call home these last ten years. Country living is quiet and quaint and with no neighbors behind us, it's been an ideal place to kick back, relax and raise our babies. However, after ten years and two growing kids, it's time to upgrade our space. Here are some farewell images that I snatched from our MLS listing.
(These are not my images! A professional realty photographer was called in to make our little house look big. She did a great job!).

Goodbye little house...
Goodbye enormous backyard that takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to mow...
Goodbye mature trees. We WILL miss you.
Goodbye little living room, dining room and kitchen...
Goodbye to all our hard work on our house...

 Goodbye massive theater system...
 Goodbye little bedroom #1
 Goodbye little bedroom #2
 Goodbye tiny, white kitchen...

We are unbelievably excited about our new house. The lot we've chosen to build on is even bigger than our current lot and the house will be almost double in size of our current home. It should be under construction very, very soon!
