Honestly, most days I'm not thrilled with the experience of puppy parenting.
He wants in.
He wants out.
He wants in.
He wants to chew on my couch.
He wants to chew my kids.
He wants to dig up the sprinkler piping and then chew on that too.
He has gnawed the corners off our Trex decking, the corners off the pillars of our covered patio, the corners off our picnic tables and benches.
He has decimated an innocent chair cushion, three stuffed animals and countless other toys, shoes, and cords that he could get his baby teeth around.
It's positively exhausting!
One day, I caught him chewing on a stick, only to find that it wasn't a stick at all,
but a decapitated bird. (((shudders)))

God made puppies irresistibly adorable so that people would love them enough to overlook the irritations of actually raising a puppy. (Well played, Heavenly Father)
Perspective teaches us that one day those naughty puppies grow up to be
loyal dogs; dogs who love unconditionally.

When you get past the frustrations of parenting a puppy, the reward of having a dog
makes you realize that dogs truly are better than humans.
I have high hopes for our newest four-legged family member, Bronco.
Someday, he'll be a dog. Right now, he's all puppy.
