Yearly Update

Abby (7 ½) has become a reader!  It took a while but she has taken off and I’m impressed often at the words she is able to read.  At parent teacher conferences her teacher said she lacked some confidence and I pondered what I could do to help her be more confident.  I felt impressed to just spend more one on one time talking with her.  I started doing that and she LOVES it!  She’s also involved in choir and dance this year.  She has a sweet singing voice and has really improved in dance.  She does a bit of gymnastics in her dance class and it’s been quite hard for her.  And that’s my favorite part because she really has to work at it.  Her cartwheels have gone from flopping on the floor to pretty decent ones.

Luke (5 ½) is such a peacemaker most of the time.  If there is one candy left, he is quick to let another kid have it without being asked.  When we are playing a game where we keep score, he’ll purposefully do bad to let me catch up.  He played soccer for the first time in the fall.  I loved watching him pick up on the rules and skills of the game.  He would get so excited for his teammates when they scored and was ok that he never got the ball in the net.

Rachel (3 ½) makes me laugh.  Today Jared and I were the monsters and she was “the princess with powers that superman gave me”.  Needless to say I died a lot and she ruled the world.  We are starting to realize she thinks her bed is our bed.  We have her visit and take up lodging with us most nights.  She knows how to get her way and can be pretty good at bossing Luke around.  She watches out for Jared for me all the time.  Oh, and it’s just so adorable to watch her sing and dance to the songs from the movie Frozen.

It’s hard for me to believe but Jared is 1 year old.  His smiles, laughs, and snuggles bring so much joy to the entire family.  He loves to play ball, play rough, and crawl upstairs to mess up the big kids toys.  They don’t love that but I think it’s kind of funny.

Jonny is up to the same things this year as he did last year: work and church.  Abby and I have talked a few times about how great dad is that he works all day and then shares the money he makes with us.  We are so blessed that wants to provide for us.  He loves to spend time with the family and we love to be with him.  The kids always get excited when he comes home and that includes Jared.  He hears his voice and starts crawling to him while he makes this little pick-me-up whine.

This year I’ve made a lot of effort to get my body back to normal.  Pregnancy left me physically week and emotionally unmotivated.  It took me a while but I got to work and lost the baby weight.  I’m proud to say I’m back to the weight I was when I got married and the best part is that I feel strong again.  I’ve also thought a lot about the Savior this year.  I felt a need to redefine my testimony of Him.  I pondered a lot about the experiences I’ve had over the years that led me to believe in Him.  It helped confirm again that He is my Savior .  I’m forever grateful for his love and sacrifice for me.

Late Halloween Post

Well I haven't posted anything in forever. It is just never high on my priority list. And this is a Halloween post but I couldn't miss the opportunity to show off my costume. It's not very often you get to wear a costume like mine. I had the baby 3 days after Halloween. And here's a shot of my kiddos too.

A Hair Cut

Well it had to happen at some point. Abby happily and with pride informed me that she cut her hair and a little of Lukie's.

I was pretty upset for a minute and she instantly felt terrible as she realized she actually made a bad choice. I did my best to fix her hair and make light of the situation because now she was mortified. It looks ok on the sides but it is a little hard to fix 3/4" long bangs! She won't be complaining about her bangs being too long for quite a while. She didn't cut much of Lukie's hair. She almost helped it because the last hair cut I gave him wasn't my best work.

My favorite part is when I went into the kitchen to see the mess she made...I couldn't find any hair. The thoughtful little girl had cleaned it up after herself and thrown it in the garbage.

She has lost her scissor privileges when I'm not around and has chosen to clean the bathroom as her punishment. Which actually will be pretty fun for her because she loves to spray the cleaning solutions.

The First One Is Gone

Abby lost her first tooth this past July! She said it was wiggling and I thought she was making it up. But then I could see that it wiggled and I turned into a dentist and started examining her mouth. And sure enough there was a new tooth coming in! She wasn't even in kindergarten yet and she lost a tooth. She was so proud of herself. She lost her second one a few weeks later.

The Potty Training

So, we are working on potty training Luke. It has been a little frustrating. The boy can hold it a really long time but just won't tell us when he needs to go. And I don't remember all the time to remind him. And when it comes to #2 he has only gone in the potty one time. Every other movement has been in be pants! The picture below is after he pooped in his pants while we were at the park. I'm thankful I had that garbage bag in my car. I was pretty upset at him but when I saw him in that garbage bag I couldn't stop laughing. He thinks he's pretty funny. Jonny didn't think it was so funny when Luke did the same thing to him at the park yesterday. And there was no garbage bag this time! Hopefully he'll figure it out soon.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Well, we bought a new home! We have been casually looking for quite a while now but when Jonny was called to be the bishop of our ward, I knew we had to move. I couldn't imagine 5 more years in our current house since we plan and having a few more kids. The week Jonny was called as the bishop a family in our ward decided to sell their beautiful 5 bedroom home. So, we bought it! The move was easy and we are already pretty settled. There are so many wonderful things about this home but I thought I'd show a few of my favorite things...

The large dinning space and kitchen with an island. I love having two ways to get in and out of the kitchen!

The spring flowers out the kitchen window.

The double oven!!!

Central vacuum

The beautiful double sided fireplace.

The mudroom - I love the space!

A sink in the laundry room. Luke is potty training right now so this is wonderful!

The huge master bedroom closet.

Double door entry.

And here is the whole thing. The previous owner left their swing set and tramp too!

We are truly so blessed and thankful to be in such a wonderful home.
