saturday the birmingham

I know i ve created an impression that im slightly retreating myself into my herbit shell in UK here, but I know my reasons why. Being able to study here is a bless, i shud be sparking here. However I dont want to get too carried away being in the limelight or indulging in pleasure. Moreover, I still have 2.5 years here, i guess that are rooms for all that. But anyway i think im having my essence, just a little smudged.

Anyway, went to birmingham for an adventurous trip with chewy and sue today. Have been hearing bout how much gigantic is bullrings from coventry precinct, how cheap is the birm market from cov market, how lovely is chinese food at the chinatown........THis time, the thought of wanting stHing different suddenly popped into my mind. No longer shopping trips.. i want to explore the other part of birm, im sure the onli attraction of birm is not merely bullring..

Well, im not wrong. Let me usher u to our journey of exploration of birm.

THe birm nature centre..
The entrance..
Animals that we couldnt find in msian zoo..
The slender tailed meekat.. THey should be trained for marching.. Haha.. THe black and white lemur..
The otters...
We were lucky as the keeper came to feed them.. I was shocked to see lovely animals becoming carnivor.. Chewy complained that it's disgusting to watch theme eating the chicks.. But i understand that this is nature..
Porcupines.. Not sure if u can see this in msia, but, they are rare at least =P
Many more animals, which is too much to be uploaded.. Capture them in fb if u r really interested.. Got to open my eyes a lot there. Other than these, there are also invertebrates house, reptiles house, aquarium etc..

After that, we headed over to lunch at the mailbox (not ur yahoo or hotmail mailbox). Hehe.. It's 10 pounds for all-u-can-eat sushi. There were a wide range of sushi, fried rice, fried veggie, fried kueyteow, tempura n many more..
I would say it's quite worthwhile bcuz i gobbled up a lot.. N i dun even need to hv dinner after tat =(After an extremely filling meal.. Next, we took the train to jewellery quarter.

As its name suggests, it is a small town where all the streets and shops are selling jewellery.. Rings, stones, necklaces, earrings, i guess, if u want to buy sthing for valentine or engagement, this is the place to shop.
Well, we went to the museum of jewellery quarter, which boosts of its potpourri of exhibits of renowned designers, despite its small size of building.. Yet, honestly, was really amazed by the delicacy n fineness of the art of work.. and admission is FREE!! Sadly, we could not stay long there due to time constrain. Our next destination was the cadbury world! I assume u know what cadbury is..
Welcome to cadbury, the world of chocolates =)
First of all, we were directed to the 'essence'. Here we were given some history of cadbury, the most interesting part was where we were allowed to mix our own chocolate that we want!! I chose a chocolate + candies one.. Kinda sad that i couldnt ask for more.. Sorry if my 'ugly' eating look scare u away.. THe chocolate was really nice..
Followed by that, we were guided to witness the production of chocolate.. Sry no photo-taking was allowed in that section..

Then, we went for cadabra, where 3 of us jumped into a mini automated car and brought to the magical world of cadbury.. Tel u what, the queue was super long, n we waited almost 30 mins for the short ride..
Some nice settings in there..

Little Snowworld.. A naughty attempt to imitate the puppet beside..
Arrgghh.. too obsessed to the camera..2nd try.. THis time, it was much better.. =P
Didn really pay concentration on the explanations and stuffs. I duno why. Probably quite exhausted running here n there whole day. N was rather fed up having to wait so long.. Anyway, im not a super fans of chocolate, n i cant really distinguish quality of choc, so...

That's the end of it.. A day to polish it up and watch me sparkle :D

Oh ya, thank you god for the sunny but not too sunny, comfortable but not too cold weather..

experimental dish

The point of today's post was to express my overjoy on a new dish that turned out well. Well, one of the best thing and also the worst thing here is that u cook for yourself everyday. And because u cook daily, u often get bored with the same food rotating and tend to experiment wildly. Of course, stimes it's successful and stimes not.

Today's experiment was suprisingly, successful. In fact, every meal here is kind of experiment to me, as i never cook at home. That day i was wondering how can a home-cooked pasta be, other than in the form of the red sweet tomato pasta sauce.. But as it turns out, pasta can hv other kind of flavours which taste as brilliant as the former one. I made a mustard and honey pasta today, with minced beef and corn (havent eaten corn for so long!!). And finally poured the mustard sauce and mayo to whip up a dish of creamy delight.
I never thought that i can actually do it successfully. Not exactly achieving the standard of restaurants, but good enough for a new chef like pinkiecloud xD

get high

Today is over finally... I cant express how heavy is my heart yesterday nite, buggled by all 4 crucial events in a Wednesday.

Biz law exam din turn out perfect. I knew there were mistakes here n there. But u noe wat, one gal was disqualified bcuz she was still writing when the invigilator asked us to put down our pens and was collecting our answer sheets. But i guess, n i hope the examiner is not going to be that cruel to disqualify, probably cutting few marks from the overall mark. Seriously this is onli the second test that i ve ever had ever since i came.

Social for craft turned out fine and smooth. Due to short term budget constrain, we were forced to bake our own pizzas instead of ordering. Although the wedges were slightly burnt, the chickens and pizzas are baked for sufficient n 'just in time' before they started turning black. Glad. THe other execs prepared lots of food as well, cakes, spring rolls, muffins, chocolate and many more. It was a lovely party. In addition to this, election were rather informal. Pinkiecloud was elected as the treasurer, after losing one vote for the position for president. Anyway im contented. Treasurer is relevant to be incorporated into my cv since im doing acc n finance. N less burden, less commitment, more free time, more opportunities for other activites :D

Presentation was good too. The panels were very friendly. Everyone dressed smartly and looked so professional. I believe the panels liked our idea of a domestic service provider. So guys, continue the effort and the next mission is to work out our real biz plan!!

Lastly, was slightly suprised by my economics assignment. Got a higher than expected mark and good feedback from my marker. Was supposed to do analysis on a country's economy for the past decades. And also assessing the vulnerability of a biz. Well, for the country i did japan, n chose japan airlines as well. Oh ya, thx to wendy who gv me a great helping hand when i was fraught with difficulties assessing the slow-tortoise internet in msia. Hugss...

Thank you. Everythin turned out smooth and well. Despite everything had over, im too relieved to go to bed early. Was rather emotionally high and happy, dancing n skipping in my rooms and along the corridors.. Silly girl..

a sprinkle of love

Valentine day looms. Everywhere is smothered in pink and hearts. Had even done two craft pieces on valentine's theme. A heart shaped jewellery box and a heart-y pillow..

I think the greatest thing i learned from craft is sewing.. I know how to initiate and end a sew now :D

Thanks to the incoming business law test and upper pitch. Keeping me busy and preventing me from being nauseated with all the goo-eyed couples drifting happily around. There's surges of change in relationship status on facebook, shops delighted in extravagant displays, classes disrupted with rose deliveries, and most of my conversations revolving around ppl's plans for the weekend.

Stil, i had a heavenly warm dinner with chewy last nite, as i took out my precious tom yam paste from my drawer and cook tomyam noodles with her. It was a homecooked affair, and very delicious. Had not eaten seafood for quite a time ade. Dessert was a sinful chocolate ice-cream, and we even watched 'gems of life' togeta. Mmmmm.. thx for the company.

Ironic as it may sound, valentines day is an all-important day of the year, spend it with all-important people in your life. Although some guys might be watching their wallets whilst the economic downturn, and ladies are watching their waists as not to gain weight, do have a nice day and scarlet urselves with passion and romance.

Females indulged in love always hv smileys hanging on their faces.

Happy Valentines Day.

ps: speaking bout waist, i think im gaining weight again.

pss: my biggest wish for valentine: all england.

a snowing week

After i woke up from my blanket, i was glad to see tat it was snowing. It has been snowing for the whole week. But the naughty little snow onli visited during midnite, when i was sleeping. N finally today, i got to walk in the snow!!

As it was still early in the morning, it was mostly pure, untouched snow everywhere. Happily, I enjoyed the wonderful sight before me. Haha.. I actually sniffed some snow, tasted some snow, eaten some snow. N the lovely snowflakes was hitting my face n falling onto my coat.

After an hour i finished my lecture and walked back with chewy. I decided to ignore my freezing toes and inconvenience of snow and ditched her to play in the snow.

Hence we were throwing snowballs at each other, n throwing to each other room's window.

The snow wasnt tat thick compared to a couple days ago. Therefore we down-graded building a mini, ugly little snowman instead. If the snow was thick enough, i would not hesitate to lie down on it.. Well, im expecting one very soon..

Snow covering every inch of Heronbank..

It was a gorgeous and awesome moment.. The whiteness of the scene, signifying cleanliness and purity, somehow makes me feel so calm and cool. How nice and 'crispy' it is: the air, the snow, the crunch, the wind, the footprints.. I particularly enjoyed the sound of crunching ice under my boots and stepping on the thin layer of ice.

But i can predict that the next few days is going to be super cold. THe coldest moment is usually when the ice starts to melt.

But anyway tis' just a rushing post to share with all of u. I hope snow wil not bcome a dull thing even though i wil be here for nx few years. See u =)

flurry flakes

It snowed today. And yesterday. Beautiful flurries of snow falling down from the sky cheered me up in a way. It wasnt too cold yet, for a short little gal like me. Everywhere is covered with white, and overall it looked so peaceful, clean and cosy.

Snapped tis at social studies building..

Another picturesque =)
Clearer..

I somehow wished I can have a nice home to call my own here, with a smoking chimney and all of us sitting by the fireplace, with laugher, with tv. And mum's delicious food that keeps us warm. How happy would it be to be with all ur loved ones in such a pretty place and soothing atmosphere.

Had a short moment playing with snowballs and snowfights. N saw few ppl making up a gigantic snow man yesterday. But it melted tis morning when i passed by on my way to lecture.

It jz ticked 12am in msia now n it's mum's bday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY!! Im glad it's just nice for us to wish mum n sing her a bday song.. Thx to skype :D

all u can eat, all i can eat =)

I should be sleeping, really, because it is already 132am in the morning, and I have seminar at 10 tmr. But blame it on the food excitement, I feel like I cannot fall asleep. So I shall do a quick photo post on this lovely dinner at wing wah.

I shall say i have not eaten so much so much of food for such a long time ade. To be more precise, to eat a lot of food without calculating and converting exchange rates. As it's a buffet dinner, i can grab whatever food, whenever i like, 'all you can eat', here it goes.

The starters..

If u r stil blur with what's happening, i Had a little cny organized by singaporean society. Many ppl were here. I heard more than 130 ticketw were sold. THe whole restaurant was thronged with ppl and queues were long enough for u to digest ur first meal b4 proceeding to the next round of food.

Despite the food wasn't too excellent, but the entertainment was hilarious and the company, good. THe theme adopted was the 'journey to the west' with 'wukong' etc. Anyway, the whole event started with the lion dance performance. N we had 'lou sang' as well :D

Little opportunities of drinkin home-made soup here. They were awesomely salty, but I guess only the Asians appreciated it. There were seaweed soup, hot and sour soup etc.

Chewy and joanna (with camera flash)..
Chewy and denise (with flash)

The table nx to mine, the heronbankers..

Home 1 & 2
Home 1: My best flatmate ever, Royce!!

Home 2: My future housemates, Shenting and Keegan

Malaysia theme:
From left: the cultural officer, Jin, me, and Zhiyi (vice president)

My happy-go-ever mentor, wendy.. (Extremely different personality than the other wendy i knew.. haha)

Having a reunion dinner for the first time overseas felt slightly strange. We were rather quiet throughout dinner, and somehow, I am used to the hustle bustle as in hometown. TV blasting in the background, kids making loads of noise, thousands of questions about my schoolwork and listening to jokes n chatter.. Nevertheless, it's not tat bad anyhow. But i dun think i had eaten enough to compensate the price i had paid =P
