Anniversary in Austin

Drew surprised me with a trip to the Hill Country for our first anniversary. He did a fantastic job keeping the weekend a secret. We left Tyler on Friday, checked into The Wyndham Hotel, and then hit sixth street.

The first night on sixth street we hit Pete's Piano Bar, a dueling piano bar, and had a blast. Could you believe it, they played The Aggie Fight Song. I was nervous because the bar was filled with Longhorns, but I went on stage and swayed with my fellow Aggies.

Day two, we headed to The Driskill Hotel downtown. The hotel was fantastic and a must visit for anyone staying in Austin. I here that the hotel is haunted, but no ghosts to report.

We met up with JoNeel, Jon David, and some of there friends from Tennessee at the Driskill Bar. The atmosphere was really nice, sort of an old world feel.

Jo and I have not seen each other since her wedding. I am so happy that her and Jon David are back in Texas! Jo looked absolutely fantastic. We did not get to meet Ellie, but we will see her soon.

Talk about red eye. I am still learning how to use my camera functions, so hopefully no more red eye.

Jo Neel and Jon David were so excited to be out on the town with grown ups. I think this was there first date alone without Ellie.

Drew took me to eat at Eddie V's downtown. The food was excellent and boy were we full. We give the restaurant rave reviews! We decided to have a nightcap before bed at the bar. Those couches were so comfy!

Day three, we headed to Falconhead Golf Club for a round of 18. The view was gorgeous and the clouds held on to give us a cool day for golf. My game really needs work, but Drew did well. The picture on the right is the 17th hole. It is a par 3 over water with a cliff green. My ball ended up in the water, but Drew's hit the right edge of the green. Nice par save baby!

After golf, the big surprise. Drew booked a night at a bed and breakfast called La Villa Vista on Lake Travis. Our view from our private balcony was breathtaking! The room was so neat and cozy, and the neatest feature was the spiral staircase to get to the room.

We had our anniversary dinner at The Oasis on Lake Travis. The sunset was beautiful and the food was wonderful, especially the guacomole. We had a blast on our anniversary weekend. Drew did a wonderful job planning the trip right down to the smallest detail. We are so happy and we are looking forward to 100 more anniversaries just like this one.
