A Spirit That Never be Told . . .

Nine years ago today, tragedy came to Aggieland. We lost 12 of our own participating in a tradition we hold so dear. I just wanted to take a moment to remember the 12 we lost and lift a prayer in remembrance of the fallen:
Miranda Adams, Christopher Breen, Michael Ebanks, Jeremy Frampton, Jamie Hand, Christopher Lee Heard, Timothy Doran Kerlee, Jr., Lucas Kimmel, Bryan McClain, Chad Powell, Jerry Self, Nathan Scott West

I remember waking on this day nine years ago to my cell phone ringing. It was Charles asking me where I was. He then proceeded to tell me what had happened early that morning. I immediately jumped up and grabbed my pot (bonfire helmet). I ran to class at Langford to tell my prof I would not be in class that day then ran to the Polo fields. I stopped dead in my tracks and said a prayer, then searched frantically for Mel. When we found each other there were only tears and hugs. I will never forget the experience of it all - sitting at the fields waiting, praying for our family, attending the candle vigil, seeing the entire Bush family pay their respects to our fallen. There truly is spirit within Aggieland, one that will never be told.
Bonfire is a tradition that brought the Aggie faithful together to get ready to take on the Longhorns. I remember my first time I witnessed bonfire and let me tell you it was an awesome sight. You cannot begin to describe seeing a 100 ft structure set ablaze against the pitch black of night. I really miss seeing it burn and I will always carry with me the memories from my bonfires. We will never forget the 12 lost on this day.

Sic 'Em Bears???

This past weekend our good friends, the Washmons, invited me to go with them to Waco for the weekend to watch the TAMU v Baylor game. We had an absolute blast eventhough our Aggies did not win the game. I have to mention that the Washmons are diehard Baylor fans, but they were extremely kind to me even though I was the enemy. This is the Aggie Band at Floyd Casey Stadium.
The Baylor faithful. Wade said that this was the largest crowd this year. Notice all the maroon in the back right hand side of the picture. No matter what the case, the 12th man will be there supporting our team.
Ashley and I at the tailgate. There was good friends, yummy barbeque, cold drinks, karoke, and yes a bus they call the Bearmobile.
Here is the Bearmobile. This is the perfect tailgate vehicle. It was so cold on Saturday with a nasty blowing wind, so the bus provide a warm haven for us. Wade said that they took the bus to a FIJI event one night and some vandalized the side of the bus. That is a shame.
Wade singing karoke. Classic!
Ashley and Baker.
Ashley, Me, and Baker.
Say cheese Ashley!
Thank you so much for a great weekend Wade and Ashley. I had so much fun hanging out in Waco! We will have to do it again next year. We would love to take you to Aggieland.
This is actually an old picture from the TAMU v OU game. Need we say more?

Pure joy - Mom stealing kisses from Aidan. I love this picture.
Emalie is too cute for words. She is wearing a hat that Mom made her.
I snapped this pic the other night from our backyard. The sunset was amazing. It was a great gift from above.

Halloween 2009

Kim and Shaun Lowery cooked a great dinner for Halloween this year. Here we are all dressed up: Laurie, Kate, Julie, Kim and Shaun.

Just us Girls!

Say Cheese

The place settings were so neat. Kim's parents brought Kim some authentic pieces from their trip to Salem, MA. Thank you for a spooktacular night Kim and Shaun!
Here are a few photos our our nieces in Florida. Too cute.

Clairebear saying cheese.
We miss out girls so much and cannot wait to see them at Thanksgiving. We love you Caroline and Claire.

Thomas the Train

Here is the latest adventure with the Lovoi's. Texas has a state railroad that is stem powered and they were offering a Day with Thomas. Aidan is head over heals for Thomas, so we took him to take a ride on the real Thomas. We had a great day!
